- Larry replies to TinaThis number seems legit. Used my debit card more then I normally do. Called the number they left. It seemed like my bank, and they had information that confirmed my use of that day, and not all in one place. This must have been my bank. How else would anyone have this information?

- dd replies to Ericaif they're leaving a message, it's because they can't get ahold of you.....
- LHIt's legit. I didn't answer, then a couple of hours later I got a call directly from my bank telling me two suspicious charges were on my debit card. The 402 number was for the card company monitoring the account. I suggest that if you don't feel comfy answering the call, for sure follow up with your bank.

CALL THE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARD - Stephanie| 3 repliesLegit call. I had to listen to the message multiple times as it was garbled and automated. I called the number left by the voicemail and it took me to my bank where they clarified the dates and transactions of my few last purchases, just to see if I had indeed been using my card. Definitely wortb following up on just in case
- Tygerkat replies to StephanieYou mean definitely worth calling your bank/card issuer at a known number, not the number that called you. Phone numbers are too easily spoofed to trust anyone calling you asking for personal information, especially if the message is garbled.
- Debbesaid that they were representing my bank, told me purchases that I had made that day, and they were trying to get more info to hack my account/debit card. Fraud!
- Caller: First Data Corp
- BigA replies to StephanieStephanie, is your mother proud that her daughter steals for a living? As someone else pointed out, this is not a fraud detection outfit.
- B-Edwards replies to StephanieShill Alert !
- O'Dawg| 1 replyIf you receive a call from this number ANSWER IT!!!!!!!!!
It is a company that does verification on recent charges to your Mastercard and Visa card. "Sandeep" will ask authenticate you by asking for the phone number THEY called and he'll ask if you are "YOUR NAME" and tell you what the credit/debit card that he is verifying for. If the information is correct, he'll then ask you to verify some of the most recent charges. He'll tell you what the charges are, so you aren't giving up any information that they shouldn't have.
If you blow this call off, you may have charges randomly declined the next time you try to use the card.- Caller: VISA/MC charge verifier
- O'Dawg replies to O'DawgExample - I went to WonderCon at the end of March 2017. They have an exhibitors room with over a hundred comic book and other related media vendors as well as food trucks outside the convention center. After about 3 purchases on my debit card, I started getting declines. When I got home, I found voice mails from this number which referred me to an 800 number. I called the 800 number ran through the process I detailed where the CSR not only asked me to verify the most recent purchases AND DECLINES before I could use my card, again.

CALL THE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARD - Debbie PI got several garbled messages from this number. Finally was able to get the (800) # off of one of them. This is a legitimate call. It's a third party company verifying purchases made on your card. They did not ask for any personal info other than my name. They just listed the questionable transactions and asked me to verify that I had made them.
- Caller: First Data Corp
- Wick| 1 replyIt is a ligitimate number from my banks debit card security company notifying of suspicious activity on my wife's debit card.
- MikeHuntleton replies to WickKeep in mind scammers regularly spoof legitimate company numbers to trick people into giving out personal info.
Read Slim's warning above! - JacobKRead this site, but instead of calling THEM back, I called my BANK. They identified the company as legit, but I told them I wasn't thrilled that they'd farm that out to someone else in today's culture of spammers. They verified the potential charge in question. It WAS mine, and all is right now. MY advice CALL YOUR BANK not this company. Maybe they'll STOP farming this out to who knows where.
- Caller: First Data Corp
- AlexYup.. Bank calling because of transactions, I guess I don't do so many and suddenly I did several over a period of a few days so they called to verify that it was me that was making the charges.
