To PO'ed I have a couple of questions i would like to ask you off this site to see if we have visited the same places. I was out of town for a few days when my card numbers were taken.

I got a Fraudulent charge to VISA associated to this phone number and listed as from PAYPAL ENGINEERING.

I thought I also had been scammed, but in reality it was a legal VISA charge that was forwarded to the persons PAYPAL account.  The persons account and the state of the transaction was correct, but the telephone number was not correct, even though the person had lived in Omaha, NE.   P.S.  the person is a minister's wife.  Check carefully.

jammer I don't believe your reply you are probably the person that stole the money I find it hard to believe that I have found over 100 post where they have rip people off and you are the only person that said it was LEGAL so maybe you are the person or persons in on this SCAM deal Kinda make me wonder and I am sure a few others do to.  Call None of the phone numbers a good numbers and they have way over a 100 SO go figure.

I just got hit for $650 today from this same number.  Came across my account as a company called Fortuneover based in Chicago with a Nebraska number. Just hung up with my bank and they told me to shut down my card immediately and they will issue a temporary credit in the fraud amount until they can get to the bottom of this.  The people who do these things should die a slow painful death.

Bull [***]!!! Paypal said a guest acct was set up using my card #.

A company that reports this number as theirs (as shown on my credit card statement) fraudulently charged $1,743 against my American Express card. Statement says Cosmetic and Beauty Company DOING BUSINESS AS PAYPAL. They say they are located in San Jose, CA, but the area code is wrong. Paypal should easily be able to link this as a scam. They apparently don't want to put out the effort. Paypal is the common thread in all these listed scams and have to know it's bogus.

Why are you depending on PayPal to protect you, if that was not a real PayPal transaction?
Instead, contact your card issuer, and dispute the charge!

If it WAS a real PayPal transaction, and if you did not receive the item, file an Item Not Received case with PayPal!

Bottom line:
PayPal was not scammed, you were.  Therefore YOU must take action!

Have the same # appear on my AMEX card for a charge I do not recognize - PP*CONNECTICUT military civil.. Called AMEX to report it immediately.

Charge to my Wells Fargo Visa Account.  I called this phone #on the bill, and got a recording that I couldn't leave a message before the call was disconnected.  I didn't recognize a PayPal payment and questioned it.  Wells Fargo closed the account.

Charge on my husband's debit card.  260.75 I caught it right away and called the bank.  Watch out. Phone number says "No one at this number in our system"

I had this number appear on a recent charge to my credit card as well. it was listed as PP*JLUISSANTOS out of NY

Fictitious charge of 49.50 on my account. I reported it as fraud to my bank and shut down my card.

Am I understanding this correctly, that charges from PayPal (or scam charges via Paypal) will appear on my bill as PP*?

I just a got a charge of $180.00 taken out of my checking acct.  it said check card purchase pp* mcnotoaryservice my bank is refunding the money.

PP*GOLDENGOLDE 4029352244 ...... i just found this on my new Citi Bank card billing ......and I have never used PAYPAL EVER!!!!   I don't even use any private info of order anything on line!!   How could this happen??

Had a charge to Mastercard from this number.  The charge on my statement was "PP*AHEA, Huddleston, VA and stated it was a hardware store. Right!!!  The charge was made on 9 Oct.  This is the second time in the last 3 months we've had a fraudulent charge made to our credit card.  I hate to have to go through the cancellation process again, get a new card number and notify all the companies that we have monthly charges automatically taken out.  Absolute frustration.
