I purchase an item off of eBay and it turned out to be worthless. I tried to get my 29.69 refunded and the seller stated that she did not list the item, her account was hacked. I contacted my bank and they identified the person as an Elizabeth Wu (Wi) from this number 402-935-7733. from California.

You could very likely be causing an innocent person to be harassed. The number on your caller ID can easily be faked, and often a scam artist will use an innocent person's number. By your claim that the caller was that person you could set yourself up for some legal trouble.

My elderly mother in law bank statement shows 45.00 on 3/13/17. I am wondering if she made this and doesn't remember or I need to turn it into her bank.

An unknown charge for $83.29 showed up on my credit card account. This number is PayPal. I called them They told me they processed a swipe from Melissa Cafe aka Bogan Industries.  There were 3 different addresses. Bottom line they can't tell me what the charge is for. PayPal says the charge is not through them but with the credit card.  It's almost like someone is using PayPal to launder the fraudulent charges. Keep watching your accounts like a hawk!

If you see  402-935-2244 and PP CINDY - (that was on mine), it is a Fraud Transaction, where the scammers got your card info from a Hacked system.  Call your CC company and cancel the card and dispute the transaction.

PayPal has no record of it as they likely did not

This number is associated with an ebay seller who made many fraudulent charges to my account after I paid via credit card.

I just got my credit card statement and saw a charge to this number.
I didn't recognize it. When I googled, I was shocked to find all of the above posts. OMG etc. etc., has my card been hacked?
But... wait a second... I DID buy something, for about the amount indicated, and I phoned in my credit card number to the seller in Illinois...  Googling the name of the seller on my credit card statement, sure enough, it comes up with the outfit from whom I bought the item. And as far as I know, they're legit and have been selling their products for years. My item arrived and works as advertised.

My statement says
PP*[name of seller] 402-935-2244 IL
and the seller is indeed in Illinois, although 402 is an Omaha or Nebraska number.
I'm thinking the PP may be Paypal, the seller is using Paypal to process my over-the-phone credit card purchase. And as I said, in my case, this was perfectly legit.

What may be happening is that crooks are using the same system to process fraudulent payments using stolen credit card numbers. That doesn't mean that every transaction done through this phone number is fraudulent.

People will have to go back and try to figure out if they bought something legitimately.

So why did you remove the name of the seller?  It is, at least according to you, a "legit" business that has been selling products for years.  If they are in Illinois, then why do they have a phone in Omaha?

Was charged $155 to my bofa from P.P. Pot Cafe. Number was from Pennsylvania. Called bofa right away to report charges.

I bought something off ebay 2 days prior, from a seller in california.... could be connected?

YES! It is 2018 and that same number (402) 935-2244 made three fraudulent charges on my account except apparently they've graduated to coinstarter instead of paypal. They made a $100 withdraw and attempted a $500 withdrawal from a "heath and beauty" store in georgia. This is ridiculous considering this person has been up to this for 6 plus years and STILL hasn't been caught.

Saw a charge and called Discover my account has been closed and they charged me just under $50.00 it was labeled Long Beach California "Day Care"

just got my Mastercard statement and have a charge of $1028.04 to PP*Insight Investments, CA.  I don't have a Pay Pal account, hardly ever use this card and when I googled the phone # 402-935-2244 all the above comments came up - all from 2013 so perhaps they stopped doing this for a while and recently started up again.  Will keep trying my credit card company.

A Bill from this number recently occured in  my Discover card , I didn't authorize this

Not a phone call, but this phone number appeared on bank statement: 402-935-2244. Fraudulent charge of $180.00 for Fraudulent merchant name "PP*AnimalsHelp" CHARITABLE AND SOCIAL SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS on my credit card.  PP in fake name was to make it look like a Paypal charge.

This phone number was on a fraudulent transaction on my bank under the name PP*JOHNSONGAME they took $246.85 from my account. PayPal has no transaction for this. I called PayPal to let them know but looking on here seems like no one is investigating them. I’m tired of having to cancel my bank card, I did take my info off of PayPal. Check your account daily their getting bolder and bolder.

Got an alert from my bank via unusual activity, this [***] named (probably fake) Nadine Vasquez tried to charge $125 to my acct. thru a credit card I do not have on paypal, only place I used it last was amazon.....anyway, the bank rejected the debit which she manually keyed in BTW  and 2 more charges totalling $40 was charged to a correspondence school in Hemet, CA.  Luckily my bank refunded me but I'm still pissed !!  Thinking about shutting down paypal.

So you know who sent you the alert but looked up the phone number anyway? Why? To tell us you're "thinking about shutting down PayPal"?

This phone # was listed on a FRAUDULENT bank charge from my account for $1, 295.00! There were more charges, all in made in Georgia.  Hackers through my online purchases I am guessing. This is so wrong to do to persons like myself that have little money , or have lost their jobs, especially during this covid-19 crisis,
