This was actually a legitimate charge but I also freaked when I saw it.  It says Paypal, but the card charged was not my Paypal card.  As it turned out, it was a kiosk in a mall that my husband had purchased and personalized a Xmas stocking. Don't know why they call themselves Paypal because that is so deceptive.  Just to be clear: they didn't call me, but when I searched the phone number associated with the charge I came across all of these comments about fraudulent charges.  Mine was actually legit.

Found a charge from two months ago to my Amex with the paypal name PP*MEAGANDIEME for $147.52.  Called AMEX and they canceled the card, issued a new one and reversed the charge.  I hope they find this [***] and arrest them.  This has happened through a fraudulent PP account through my bank as well - they charge a couple of little charges to see if they get caught and when they don't they start charging bigger charges.  What everyone else says is true that when dialing the number you get a recording that says it cannot take voice messages....of course.  I'm tired of this PayPal nonsense.

My checking account was zeroed out by this phone number ( 402-935-2244) via PayPal to the tune of $2400!  I opened a fraud report with Wells Fargo but the withdrawal went from pending to posted. I called the bank and they told me that everything would be reversed including the overdraph   transfer fee within in 1 business day, We'll see.

This phone number was used for a fraudulent charge to my VISA account.  It was listed as Pp*omega Brick 402-935-2244 FL for $278 on 4-20-15.  On 4-16-15 I had a $278 charge from Sq*william Pearson North Port Fl and on 4-21-15 that charge was refunded.  The fraud dept. for my card was able to tell me that the card had not been swiped on any of those charges.  The charges were made from phone devices.  The omega Brick was listed as a resale shop.

My charge looks legitimate -- the credit card statement showed something like PP*GASOLINEALL which, while seemed suspicious at first (since I don't use gasoline in NYC), I realized there was a coffee shop called Gasoline Alley I had visited on that day (and my Google location history confirmed it).

I recommend filing a fraud dispute with your bank or CC holder and also filing reports with the FTC & CFPB..

My business account was hit through my debit card for $288.20 by 402-935-2244, vendor listed as PP*SROANCOLASE out of MO. Fortunately I have alerts sent to my cell when the card is used. I called CHASE right away and they credited the amount back whilst they research this. Given the number of posts associated with this phone number, I think their fraud department won't have an issue with my dispute.

Whoever these scumbags are deserve to contract a flesh-eating bacteria that can't be cured.

"They" put through an even-$800 VISA charge [billed as PP*KMMFIREWORK] that was approved -- currently hopefully being credited -- and an odd-$6xx charge that was rejected by VISA ... VISA contacted me and closed down my account [costing them time/money] while I had to lose time and suffer aggravation. I hope the authorities catch and prosecute this repeat criminal!

Found a fraudulent charge from 5/27/15 for $116 that listed "PP*DAVIDBASALE" as the seller, with this number listed as the contact. Called Chase immediately and they refunded the money and opened an investigation. The Chase fraud team let me know that the transaction was entered on a keypad -  in other words, on a cell phone. Hope these jerks get caught. Seems like enough people have gathered bits and pieces of their contact info that they shouldn't be too difficult to find with the right agency looking for them.
