I too had understood that telemarketers weren't allowed to use cell phone numbers.  I got a call from this number on my cell phone at midnight.  That's just not cool.  And they don't leave a message so if it's legit why won't they leave a message.  That way if I'M interested I'LL call back. I'm so sick of this lack of privacy.

This # called my cell phone and I don't know who they are and if it is a poll about a service, I haven't been any where that would require a follow up call. They asked for me and I said I wasn't here and asked if they would leave a message and I was hung up on.

AMEN...what is so hard about this. If i did not tell you that you can call, you have no business calling. what part of that is hard. I have a right to privacy. But people who call others with intent to harm and disturb them can care less about anyone eles. THis is apparent that they are calling because they are evil and evil has only one intent to make others unhappy and to disturb them, like flies.

No message left.  They call my cell phone numerous times.  I called and left a message for them to remove my number.  Wonder how long that will take?

This is the second time this number has called. Once on Sept. 25th at 2:43 p.m. and today  at 6:17 p.m.  They didn't leave a message on the amswering machine. I don't care if they are gallop taking a survey or just some nuts just  dialing numbers I'm reporting them anyway. Next time they call i just might answer  and blow a whistle as loud as I can into the phone. Maybe then they'll get the message not to call this number again.

    Me
I decided to take the pole.  A lot of info they asked for.  I wonder if they (even if they say they don't) sell or give my information to other "polling" companies.  I think at one point they asked for my youngest kid's age.  I think gallop should come into this century and realize that people aren't real comfortable with giving out this information.  Calls like this are why I don't answer the phone anymore, at home.  It is just ridiculous the number of calls that someone must make to get to the 1 person that will answser their questions or buy their product.  I cannot imagine a more boring job.  I think I will now put callers like this on my prayer list.  God help them!

I just got a call from them and answered questions that I felt were ok and didnt answer questions that were too personal.  I think these polls could be helpful to our country.

It's just the Gallup service.  Any company that you give your phone number to, say a bank or a political organization, may use Gallup to help run surveys.  They can call you regardless of your number being unlisted or on the DO NOT CALL list because you already gave your number to the company that is using the Gallup service.  The easiest way to deal with the call is to simply answer the phone and state that you don't want to answer the survey.  If you have the 3 minutes free though you might as well just answer the questions.  Not answering is the worse thing to do though since they'll continually call you until you answer.

They have called me 4 days in a row on the cell phone and I will not answer. Most likely a survey call regarding something that was recently purchased by me. They do not leave a message either and I don not have an opinion. They know where to find me if it is of any importance. Save the phone number, give it out as yours, and they can call it. OOOXXOOO

I find it hilarious that apparently no one reads the comments BEFORE posting one.

And I find it appalling how immature some of these "adults" are. Blowing a whistle into your phone? simply ignoring the calls? Yelling at the pollsters? These things are what children do.

    To all telemarketer's
The Call Screener automatically answers a ringing phone and plays the following message:

"This number does not accept solicitation or survey calls of any kind. Place this number on your "Do Not Call" list and hang up. All others press "1" to ring through." ANY telemarketer that ignores this message is willfully violating federal law and liable for damages up to $ 1,500 dollars. In other words, if you have a Call Screener and a telemarketer calls, that party will either hang up or be positively identified as acting illegally and liable for damages.

Everybody  should have one. Just Google "Call screener"

I have a friend who used to do this to phone company
operators at random, but it works excellently on
       telemarketers.

All you have to do is act [***].  Make them repeat
*everything*. Talk slowly and slurred.  Explain how you are
brain damaged and how you got that way.  Take *forever*.

The smart ones will end the conversation quickly and add
your number to a dead numbers list; the dumb ones will humor
you for up to 15 minutes! Wasting their time is wasting
their money and trashing their bottom line; an excellent
incentive to explore some other line of business.

I worked for them for several years.  If you answer and listen to who they are asking for and say that you are that person and your not interested after they have asked who they are calling for and are nice they will take you off the list.  They do a lot of calling to follow up on a visit to a bank or hospital and the do not call list doesn't apply to them because they do not sell anything or ask for donations. Just FYI.

These calls from Gallup are for surveying purposes only. Anytime you call a bank or other companies where you have an account or personal information stored with them and you hear a message telling you that the call may be recorded for quality purposes, that pertains to Gallup. If you do not want the calls about surveying then do not call those numbers. Gallup does the surveys to make sure consumers needs are met and monitor the business' customer service.
