- sb replies to T.M.I'd like to know how they are getting unlisted numbers and personal information..that part is scaring me!
- Bubba replies to MaeI am asking if anyone knows about this company:
Vandenberg, Chase and Associates
887 W. Marietta St. Suite J-102
Atlanta, Georgia 30318
Phone: 404.249.1099
Fax: 404.249.9599 - Rickwhat do you mean how are they getting your information? if you wrote a bad check, your information is on the check. there is a lot people can find out from that information. i got a call from them and its legit people, i checked up on it. they are registered with accreditation from the ACA... they are a collections agency. wouldnt you want to get the money someone owes you? this is what they do. no use in getting all worked up when youre at fault. just check on them if you dont believe me, and then pay what you owe!
- qwerty| 6 repliesall of you people that are not paying your bills are at fault. how is it that a phone call from a legit company, who by the way are regesitered with accreditation from the ACA, about money you owe somebody such a monstrosity? Wake up people, it's time to pay what you owe and stop fretting over the legitimacy of the calls! i was called becuase of a bill i did not pay and in no way was it an annoying phone call. i would want my money too.
- Jim replies to qwerty| 5 repliesI hope it's as easy for you to tell who appears to be working or plugging these bottom-feeders as it is me.
This company is a debt collector. I did a search on ACA and I know they are. They are registered. I also know that they are beating up the regulations of the FDCPA pretty bad. I fully intend to file a lawsuit against this company shortly because they violated my wife's consumer rights. I urge all of you who have been threatened to do the same thing. If nothing else set down and write a complaint to the Federal Trade Commission about your experience.
You want a story I will give you one. My wife did in fact write a check to Ace Check Cashing for a loan. They were suppose to hold the check until a certain date in the future and then it was to be deposited. An employee processed that check a week early and deposited it a week before it was suppose to be deposited. Their actions caused several other checks to bounce. I was charged $35. by the bank for each of those checks. In addition the people I wrote those checks to also charged me for a return check charge. These charges added up to be a whole lot more than the loan. The only thing Ace offered was to just pay the check and they would waive the return check charge they assessed. That was certainly fair of them when I had over $800. in return check charges.
Screw them. Ace will never get paid. Ace then turns around and sells my wife's account to these clowns for pennies on the dollar and then they think they are going to bully my wife for the full amount.
Let me tell you something Vandenberg you pieces of garbage. PLEASE file a lawsuit against my wife. When I file the answer for me wife against the complaint you file I will also include a graduated denial also. Then try and get Ace to come testify for you in court.
I know how to handle clowns like you. You do not scare me. I love it when so called debt-collectors like you call because it's money in the bank for my clients. A debt-collector cannot do what you've displayed to me and get away with it.
Maybe your one of those debt-collectors who are making so much money anyways collecting the way you do that a few thousand dollars in fines makes no difference because it's just a cost of doing business.
I writing this response for two reasons. To convience people they don't have to put up with businesses like you voilating their consumer rights. The second reason I am responding to this post is to tell you again I think your a real scum-bag. We will see each other in court.
That is unless you go ahead and just mail me the settlement amount and realize you will lose a lot more in cash and resources to fight me in court. However the choice is up to you.
We will be talking soon you pieces of "CRAP". - Rick replies to Jim| 3 repliesJim, your wife shouldnt be buying things when she doesnt have money. i cant believe you are admitting to writing a BAD CHECK and then when this company wants their money, you are refusing to pay them. why dont you return what you purchased with the money you didnt have?
look, all i did was a google search on this company to see if they had a website, and i get this site about all you people bitching, especially jim. all these charges are YOUR fault, you cant complain about being irresponsible and take someone to court whose trying to get whats owed to them!!! what a joke!
where is the fight? you obviously didnt have money, JUST LIKE I DIDNT, but at least i paid what i was supposed to. and im not being a child about it. be an adult for once. you owed money, and you havent paid it, WHERE IS THE FIGHT?
seriously people, i really hope all of you dont agree with this guy's argument. there are a lot of people that have been victim of identity theft, but as long as you can get it taken care of, you shouldnt have to pay the money! trust me i had a cousin that had that very thing happen to him@ this guy just ADMITTED TO BEING BROKE! look man, just do what everyone else in this country does, and pay your debts. - Jim replies to Rick| 2 repliesLook Rick you stupid piece of crap. First of all what I or my wife does is none of your business. Ace Check Cashing offers or at least they did what is called a PayDay Loan. The concept behind it is to borrow money now for something that needs to be paid now and then paying back the loan via a personal check on PayDay.
I never did, nor did my wife ever write a bad check to anybody. Shut your mouth about stuff you don't understand. I am only trying to help people here who might not know the law. The law certainly does not condone a debt-collector using abusive tactics to collect a debt.
You want me to be honest and fess up. I have done that you piece of garbage. Now why don't you just admit your actually somehow part of this company.
First of all if you want my opinion if you were so happy with the way you was treated by this company when they tried to collect then why would you "GOOGLE" the phone number? You would have no reason to. You would have just paid it and that would have been that.
I hope these people read these posts and at the very least complain to the Federal Trade Commission. At the very most hire an attorney and go after this company if in fact the were subject to abusive practices like many of them were. And anybody reading this is you need some direction or where to go or who to contact for a potential lawsuit just ask. I will be more than happy to give you some direction in that area.
Just so you know "Liar Rick". I own my own home, now mortgage, just bought a new car. Currently shopping for a new Harley. No other credit card debt what-so-ever. I live in central Florida. My life is great. Don't bother writing me back telling me about yours.
By the way I do pay my debts. My high credit score reflects that. And when Ace Check Cashing settles up with me I will settle with them. As far as Vandenberg goes. I don't deal with 3rd party debt-collectors and for anybody reading this... You don't have to either..... Simply send them a cease and desist letter telling the company not to contact you again and if they do for anything other than the (2) acceptable reasons they will have violated another FDCPA violation. Of course Vandenburg does not concern themselves with complying with Federal Law do they "Liar Rick"? "Liar Rick" is just a concerned citizen telling everybody and anybody they should just pay their bills that are their responsibility. - Rick| 10 replieshaha, jim... none of my business?? YOU ARE POSTING YOUR BUSINESS ON THE INTERNET.... and calling names doesnt make you any more mature. i googled the company when i got a message. its what anyone does these days. ppl google everything. i dont in any way shape or form have to explain that. i tried to look them up before i called back.
haha i dont need to tell you about my life, good for you that youre financially stable. thats great. but why tell me your business if its... well, 'none of my business'. this is absolutely hysterical.
calling you to ask for money YOU OWE is abusive? i didnt know that.
'liar rick' hahaha.... im not concerned about anyone but myself, i just think people should be responsible, i find it hilarious that you are on here calling me names and discussing your irresponsibility. freedom of speech entitles me to comment about how much youre complaining. you have no one to blame but yourself. - Jim replies to Rick| 6 repliesIt's obvious to me that there are employees of this business posting comments on this board. If you read the information carefully you can easily see this by what they say and how they say it.
A debt-collector cannot threaten you or be abusive. It makes no difference if you owe the debt or not. If you have been threatened by this company or any other company contact a lawyer who specializes in this type of law. Also, file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.
I am sorry for losing my temper. I deal with scum-bag debt-collectors every day. That's part of my job. When some smart [***] comes along it's sometimes hard for me to keep my cool. Especially when they are a liar on top of it.
Vandenberg and companies like them can be stopped. File that complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. - cb33 replies to Jim| 4 repliesWhen the bank charges you for overdraft, you don't blame them for the charges they place against your account. It is YOUR responsibility, case closed, there's no other way around it, intentional or not.
First of all, it is not very smart admitting to writing a check that bounced, and then admitting you're not willing to pay it. Once a check is written with intent to bounce, it is considered counterfeit. I WOULD worry about a lawsuit, if they were to serve you.
Most companies will run a check twice, if the check bounces twice, and the money still isn’t in the bank to cover it, usually the company will stop
sending it through, and will instead try other collection methods.
This is where that collection company vanderberg or something steps in.
One method is to call you and ask you to come pick up the check, by first paying the bounced check charges. If you fail to do this, by law, the company has every right to report you to the police and ask that you be arrested. Sometimes it takes months before a company will decide to do this and by then, many people think there will be no repercussions.
If you are arrested for writing a bad check, and the check is not an astronomical amount of money, you will generally just appear in court and the judge will order you to pay the check, the bounced check charges, and all court costs and fines within a certain amount of days. Failure to do so is a contempt of court, and you will likely be arrested again, and this time, given a more severe punishment. Besides ordering you to pay the expenses, a judge can also sentence you to community service or even probation. If you are seen in court more than one time for bounced checks, you might then be given jail or prison time.
I think it's better to be warned than to find yourself being served outside your house. - Tom replies to cb33| 3 repliesYour post sounds really stupid. "Intent to bounce". I'm going to be laughing at that all day.
Just so you know... Anytime you write a check with the intention to honor it in the future the check becomes a promisory note. There is no criminal intent.
As far as a company running a check usually twice is BS also. Most companies today get the information off a check and do what is called an ACH. The company can present that to the bank as many times as they want to. I had one client who had to close her account because the company would not stop presenting the ACH.
Oh screw this... Your post is just to stupid to even respond to..... - LMAOOk when someone does a payday loan they write a postdated check to pay for money upfront. If the lender tries to cash that check before the day agreed upon they are violating the payday loan contract. Payday loans are just like pawn shop scams. But just like in the pawn shop, they cant sell your stuff or cash your check before the day it is due. Otherwise you can sue them for contract violation. When some dumb payday loan company sells it to an even stupider collection agency it gets worse.
Most states do have bad check laws. But if you can show that you had the intent to pay by acct balance or expected deposits then there is no INTENT to defraud. These collectors like to threaten you with arrest. Not only is that against FDCPA law but it is also extremely unlikely to happen since 9 times out of 10 the collector is not even in your state. Unless you are writing very large bogus checks then nothing will happen.
Remember there is no intent to defraud if you reasonably thought you would have the money to cover it. If you wrote a check for $10,000 when you only had $2000 in your acct then you are guilty of fraud. If you wrote a check for $500 and had $450 in your acct but were expecting a deposit soon then you are not guilty. Screw these bottom-feeding jerks!!!- Call type: Debt collector
- Mary replies to Rick| 2 repliesRick I think you are a liar also. Why would you defend the actions of a collection agency if you didn't have an interest in it? Your hiding period. Besides you tell one person on this board you don't think he is acting responsible. However, you indicated in your own post that you got a message from this company. If you are so responsible why did this company have to call you and leave a message? If you are so responsible why didn't you pay your obligation before it got turned over to this collection agency? You need to proof read what you write before you post it. Anybody reading your post should know right away you are either blowing smoke or in fact you are a liar.
- DeanIt's funny actually. I checked my credit report recently and I had this agency called NCO buy some debt from a hospital that took me in from food poisoning. Turned out that my insurance didn't pay all of it. It was a huge headache. Dealing with an agency can be hard but you just have to ask them for the proof and be consistent. I paid them and made sure they billed me the receipt. Plus it will help your credit score. The reason I did it.
- Rick replies to Mary| 1 replyFirst of all, Mary... no one is perfect. this is the ONLY time something like this has happened to me. I never said I was responsible and everyone else should be like me. the rest of the people didnt sound as [***] as JIM, thats why i chose to single him out. im not specifically defending the collections agency i am simply discussing the principle of paying a DEBT.
haha because i claim to be responsible i have to answer every call? do you answer all your calls mary? no one leaves you messages?
this was from 2005 and i moved because i got divorced, if you must know, and things became complicated with my prior obligations. these things happen. but hey, i owed money, and i paid it. AFTER making SURE this company was legitimate. i wasnt threatened at all, they simply explained everything and i knew immediately i was in the wrong. i asked for their credentials and called back with a payment.
and thanks for the advice, but no need to proof read anything.
i love how some of you resort to name calling. i still find it hysterical that i am 'liar rick'... come on.. act your age. - Betty replies to RickRick I find it hard to believe you also. I asked them several questions also and they were all ignored in one fashion or the other. I also find it hard to believe that your the only person who posted here that did not have a problem with this company.
It appears to me that your the one out of context here. You also appear to be the only one that is continuing to defend their actions. To me this could also be an indication your covering up. - Jason Hickswhen i got a call from these people, initially i was told that i owed a certain amount and immediately i got upset with the collector. that resulted in the collector trying to explain what company she represented and etc. looking back i know i could have handled the situation better. i took down their information, called again and spoke to Chris who was very formal and reassuring on the phone. i was transferred back to the collector and arranged a payment plan because the sum of money i originally borrowed was quite large. anyway, as long as you keep it cool the phone call should go smoothly. you cant avoid paying debts.
also, i was reading what jim was writing, and honestly it seems like this guy is a pro when it comes to dealing with collection agencies. lol. seems like hes just mad at all of them so hes posting on sites to get other people mad at them. dude just stop borrowing money. i dont know how you have a house and car and all the stuff you said, i dont feel like scrolling back up, with bad credit??? if you have to deal with so many collectors your credit obviously isnt going to be the best.- Call type: Debt collector
- i've been through this!!! replies to SkippyUnless you're "judgment-proof" (that is, broke) or truly plan to file for bankruptcy, most credit counselors believe that you shouldn't ignore your debt or try to hide from a debt collector. Generally, the longer you put off resolving the issue, the worse the situation and consequences will become. Whether you negotiate directly with the collector or obtain a lawyer's assistance, most counselors feel it is almost always best to talk with the collector and work out a mutually satisfactory arrangement.
- t| 1 replyI got a few calls at work, and that was annoying and they were kinda rude, but once i gave them my cell number and calmed down, they were fine. i guess my check was for the wrong date, and i had overspent on my car. i assumed i would have the money by then, but whatever. i have it now, and everything's fine. sometimes things just accumulate or you forget, but i agree with rick. things happen sometimes - just take care of it.

- Right... replies to tYes. The solution for dealing with rude people on the phone is to give them your cell number.
Yeah...that'll work.
