I had 5 messages fron different people saying that I will be aressted if the balance in not payed in full. Vandenberg Chase and associates also sent me a letter for someone elses account.

jsyk, i taked to the attorney general in iowa, and they are in the process of filing criminal charges against vandenberg and chase.when they tell your employer, or threaten jail, they are breaking the law. he said they have had several hundred complaints.

just tell them that so and so Moved to South Carolina.
or Texas, North Carolina or Pennsylvania since
no wage garnishments there.

I too got the same threatening message. Thankfully I googled them and found a ton of postings about them. I did what you all said, filed a complaint with FTC, State Consumer Affairs and BBB. The number below for a fax is no longer a fax. Here is their new fax #4047681085.

Okay, what is really going on with this company?  They keep calling my home phone requesting to speak with a man that is currenty married to my husband's ex-wife. My question is how did they get my phone number with connections to a person I know little about.

These people impersonated lawyers and told me I had a warrant for my arrest and the sheriffs office was going to pick me up if I didn't pay them right away. They actually wanted me to "verify" my social security number for them over the phone and give them bank account info. First of all I did some investigating and they are not attorneys nor do they have a legal department or attorneys working for them. Also there have been numerous complaints with the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) against them for violating debt collection practices. Now, more to the point. I DON'T OWN ANY LEGITIMATE DEBT WITH THIS COMPANY OR ANY OTHER FAST CASH PAYDAY LOAN PLACE. In case some don't know this Payday Loan places and Checkmate loan places DO NOT use the credit bureau's to verify a persons credit worthiness or identity. If they did they would have seen the FRAUD ALERT on all three of my credit files because a family member with a gambling addiction has been using my identity for years and police reports have been filed.  Bottom line: So if you have been a victim of identity theft the "fraud alert" you placed on your credit file DOES NOT stop these fast cash places like ACE Fast Cash. Instead they call your employment and call two reference people you suppossedly gave them. All someone has to know about you is where you work and two contact people that will verify you are a responsible person. (Three phone calls and all three can be made up and staged by the thief if necessary.) Then WHALA Payday will hand out a loan and deposit it into any bank account number given them not necessarily yours. The perpetrator has the money and the victim does'nt even know what happened until years later when they try to collect the bad debt. This is exactly what happened to me. Be Aware - Legally they don't have a leg to stand on because YOU never gave them your social security number. That's why they want YOU to verify your social security number over the phone so they can later say YOU gave it to them and YOU verified it was YOU. They already have your social security number, they just didn't get it from you they know it and they need to trick you into verifing it. They keep their fax number on an answering machine and refuse certified mail so your only recourse is to file a complaint with the FTC or sue them yourself. PAYDAY LOAN verification practices are the root of the problem. Someone needs to shut them down altogether. Anyone can get a loan in your name with very little trouble.

so i just got a call came up on id as a indiana call, but some lady {rude btw}says shes from fraud dept at vandenburg and chase,wanted to speak to my husband, would not give me info other than a phone number..which is - 404-682-9404, but the number on my id was-765-201-4511...
why such a vast in difference on numbers, and hide your company's idenity.. if you are a legit company; then why not act as such?

    something about fraud charges against my husband. but wouldn't give any details...hmmm.. any ideas? tried calling back, but they wouldn't talk to me.. funny since we are legally marries, so his debt is mine an vise versa. tried to ask if it was a bank acct. trype think, or what..but nada..

I don't know who you think you are, unless you must be working for these arrogant ^&&%^#-holes.  They are a COLLECTION AGENCY...not attorneys.  Even an attorney (and there was one listed on one of the websites about these sleezebags) will tell you that if you only owe them a couple of hundred dollars, they would be STUPID to sue you for it.  It would cost them THOUSANDS to sue you for much less.  In these hard financial times, many people cannot afford to pay their normal monthly bills, much less old bills from months or years ago, or to be ripped off when it wasn't their bill at all.

If you tell them to cease and desist, they can't harass you any longer.  If they have violated YOUR rights, and you do have rights against idiots like this, then you can actually SUE THEM.  I KNOW, because I have sued 2 or 3 companies like this who were doing the same things to me several years ago.  Looks like I have another round coming up, since they called my MIL today, revealing info, but wouldn't even speak to me or my husband!

This company keeps bother my brother and relatives for a debt that was paid off longtime ago through a Ace Cash Advance. The check was sent through the first time but did not clear because of shortage of funds, but then was sent back through and the bank cleared it on the second attempt when my payroll was deposited.  Now these people harass any of the friends and family reference numbers I have given them.

I do not beleive they can be harassing these people.  They have caused me so much stress due the fact that now my relatives and friends do not even want to talk to me for having this company put them through this.  This has been over 3 years ago, and they cannot provide proof, and only real harassing phone calls.

Ok, So you got a loan and didn't pay it back? You gave a check to cover it and it bounced? You think they are the scammers????? Are you kidding me????? Pay your debt, you stole from these payday loan companies, and are now looking for any reason to not pay them back. You are all pond scum.
Now, I do not agree that they should be breaking the FDCPA, that is against the law. But there should be a law that makes you scammers pay your bills. Maybe it should be legal to have you arrested for writing a bad check. Oh, Wait there is....and how many people actually write good comments about bill collectors? Look up, Verizon,  Blockbuster, Comcast, see if there are any complaints about them...All you do is complain instead of taking care of your responsibilities...you are a drain on society.

Threats,Threats,Threats. Threatening warrant by the end of the day, or exchange for a payment by phone. ? ? This place is ridiculous, they called people I have not spoke to in years and told them the same thing.(Which tells me this might be a 6 year old debt or older) Shut these people down !

they are in atlanta at the king plow center, i use to work there and it is a scam. when you call ask for chris, dodi or sharisse williams. DO NOT PAY THESE PEOPLE.. they got a new system to where the phone numbers seem like they come from your city or state, they are in atlanta on west marietta street.

A woman called me from this number and told me she had a warrant for my arrest for an outstanding debt to Ace cash express from 2 years ago. She went on to tell me I was going to jail..losing my job..and pretty much that my life would be ruined unless i paid her in 4 days. They also called my son and his ex wife and told them they had a warrant for my arrest. When I asked them why they called him they said I should be happy she tracked me down as she could help me by letting me pay her so i dont go to jail.

Pay UR Bills- you need to spend a little more time working on your second grade spelling/grammar and a little less time on this website. Ashame? Try a shame- two words, dumbass. There? Try their- moron.

I just received a message from this company, Vandenberg Chase and associates regarding serious matter, and someone has used my personal information. Caller I.D used 702-479-5246. They wanted me to call back a certain number but I did not. What will I do.

Is this a legitimate company?They called me with threats of filing a lawsuit against me and threatned to confiscate all funds in my bank acct which I have nothing in it due to someone withdrawing 2000.00 w/o my permission and the bank will not cover the loss.

It is extremely important to their case to include in your statement if the phone representative claimed to be an attorney, claimed that the firm is a law firm or alluded to the firm being a law firm or having lawyers on staff or something about a  network of attorneys that work for their firm. Also end your statement with the line below:

I respectfully request that the firm Vandenburg, Chase & Associates be prosecuted under the fullest extent of the law pursuant to 15 USC §§ 1692 § 814 and State laws regarding Fair Debt Collection Credit Practices.

Write a letter to both addresses. Send them certified mail with receipt requested.  That way you have a signature on file note in the letter other than to stop calling you that they have 30 days to comply with the amount of the debt and the original debtor.  Look on line if you need some kind of wording on how to write a cease and desist letter.

What attorney's you know that handle such problems as these.  I need a good consumer attorney.

I believe you ae missing the point A..H.., we had dealt with reputable collection agencies, legit agencies.  These are not legit or else they would do things by the law.  They are harrassing my 82 year old mother, whose credit cards have all $00 balance because she does pay her bill, does not like debts. This Foney, S.l.i.m.e.y, agency will not return my calls, they will not discuss this matter with me, I guess because when I left them the message I left my name and told them that I was an attorney  respresenting this client.  They will not call me but keep harrassing my mother. I am in the process of sending out the cease and desist letter and I am reporting them to the FTC, BBB, AMC, and my legislature for this crime against a Senior Citizen and will go as far as I possibly can to stop this from happening to someone elses parent.
