My credit card bills have become too high to manage due to be unemployed and single with no one to turn to except the little work I can pick up to pay necessary expenses, like rent, water, trash, electricity and phone.  They can evict for non-payment or turn off water, electricity, or no collect trash, or turn off phone, but they can't do a thing about a credit card to someone with no means to make a payment.

I have learned something valuable.  I have tried calling them to explain (as other posters have too tried).  Here is something important:

DO NOT CALL THEIR 800 NUMBERS FROM YOUR CELL OR HOME PHONE.  THEY ARE USING THEIR ANI (AUTO NUMBER IDENTIFICATION) TO FIND A NUMBER YOU CAN BE REACHED AT.  I.E. YOU USE A FRIEND OR WORK PHONE AND THEY WILL GET IT AND CALL LATER AND KEEP CALLING IT LOOKING FOR YOU BECAUSE YOU ONCE CALLED THEM FROM IT.  DIAL *67 AND A NON-TOLL FREE NUMBER TO CONTACT THEM OR CALL THEM FROM A PAYPHONE USING THEIR TOLL FREE NUMBER LISTED AND LET THEM CALL PAYPHONES IN THE FUTURE LOOKING FOR YOU.

I have found the only solution is to say "oh, I get calls all the time for that name, I have only had the number a month, can't help you" and they supposedly remove the number.  I have noticed a reduction in calls, so it is possible I have been removed from several of their lists and my approach seems to be working.  You see, I have already told them my situation AND I will contact them when my situation changes, do not call me, if you need to contact me, use the U.S. Mail delivery only.  I no longer have a phone.  I use the phones of friends.

I came to the conclusion of how they are getting the numbers because the phone company actually DID change my number a while back and I NEVER gave it to these people.  I DID call them on their toll free line to explain my financial situation has caused me to suspend payments until further notice as I have no income at the present time to allow payments to be made.  They appear to ignore what I have told them, so I enforce it by telling them they have reached a wrong number when they call since they obtained it by deceptive and inappropriate means, they do not pay my phone bill, I have a right to decide who calls it and has it, not them.

Recently, one did sent me a letter they were having my account reviewed by some law firm.  I asked them for the address of the firm because I wanted to write to them and let them know if they buy this account, the company selling it knows my financial circumstances and that they will not receive their value as I am not financially able to pay.  When I said that, they refused any further information other than to say "please make a payment when you are able to".  I think I made my point - a law firm would be very unhappy receiving an account that the company who owned it knew why there was no payment and that none could be made, it wasn't as if the person was able to and was intentionally refusing to do so.

had been ringing off the hook this week trying to reach me, I did answer on the 2nd ring and to my suprise no one had any idea that I did answer!!! JUST HOW IMPORTANT WERE THE ENDLESS CALLS MADE PRIOR TO MY NUMBER?????

I'm getting a minimum of 15-20 calls every single day from Chase. occasionally I answer just to shut them up and they always say the same thing "our calls are automatically dialed by computer until your payment comes through". so even if you talk to them and explain, 4-5 days later the calls start again. I've talked to them 3 times in less than 2 weeks and every time I tell them the same thing "I just talked to you less than a week ago, nothing has changed, I'm still unemployed". it's clear that the only thing they care about is getting their money, they don't care in the least about your situation. today they started up again. and it's always from a different phone number in a different area code. I guess they figure if they call you from a different number, it'll fool you into answering so they can harrass you again.

I get calls from this number throughout the day. But they will not leave information or answer. Sometimes they just don't leave anything but it's getting wrong. I know if you write to the company they should stop it.

Same as all the comments listed above....call numerous times, don't answer or hang up and leave no messages. I get a call at least once per day.

yeah i just looked this number up and here i am! Its funny i have not been late on my credit card payment in over 8 months! The only reason for that was the fact i was in the middle of moving and i wasn't thinking about it at the time. but to receive a bakers dozen of calls is getting out of hand. they begin at 7 am and and stop around 10 pm. Is there any possible way to sue them for harassment! I even made my payment 2 weeks early and they still call! I thought at first it was just a reminder call, but damn I can't wait to pay off this damn bill and tell them to F* off

Not Chase, scam called Chase regarding the calls and it is not them.  Fraud probably they want your full account no. and social.  Don't give it to them.  They say they are Chase late payment, but it is a scam.  I called them back and told them I had given their no. to Chase and would call police if it continued.  Have not heard from them again.  So call them back and threaten them with Fraud.  Works like a charm.

Has anyone thought that maybe it's a scam?  Someone calling to get you to pay over the phone?  They aren't identifying themselves?  Seems kind of fishy to me.  Before I was getting phone calls from this number I was getting them from 402-220-4355.  We called Chase at a different phone number (we have accounts, but no late payments)and they said they weren't the ones calling.  So, when this number showed up this morning I figured it was just another scam.

This guys are terrible.  They have called my phone 6 times this morning and not once have they left a message.  The only reason I knew who was calling me is because of this website.  I do not answer phone calls from telephone numbers that I don't know.  So basically they would never get a hold of me.  If they had left a message at least once I probably would have bee more apt to answer the phone next time they called me.  They are rude and the next time they call I'm giving them a piece of my mind!

This is in reference to Tex on May 28, 2008.  You are wrong.  The phone number is Chase Bank.  I called it back and they answered as Chase Bank.  Employees of companies will call out using their phone number not an 800 number.  They give out the toll free numbers for people to call in on, not for their employees to call out on.

I know! Its so frustrating. Every time I call back or ask them to identify themselves, they hang up. So I've simply blocked the number from my cell phone and contacted Chase directly through email asking why they were calling me and asking them to please refrain from doing so and stick to email. The constant calling is extremely frustrating! I'm also thinking of switching to a different credit card company. This is getting out of hand.
