This is legit. It is the Marriott Vacation Time Share.  If you are a Marriott reward holder or have signed up for one of their online "sweepstakes" you will probably get a call.  I got a 5 day 4 night in Orlando for $199.  Well worth the 90 min you have to spend listening to their speel, but I have stayed on their properties before with people who are members and they love it.

I got a call from this number.
I told them I wanted to think about it and asked if they had a website.
    I was told www.marriot-vacations.com.
I went to it and it was one of those placeholder search pages.
Not a real site so I don't know what to think.

I have been receiving calls from this number but they never leave a message.  I got so fed up that I checked the number online and realize I'm not the only one.  Wish they would just stop calling.

Got tired getting calls from this number and they would not leave message. So I recorded that quasi-pirate song from FreeCreditReport and play it when I get the calls now. At least now I always get a chuckle, and the frequency of calls have decreased.

I received a legitimate Marriott offer from this number. I mistakenly threw away a good deal I received by mail from Marriott and luckily they follow up.  I called the number back and took advantage of an offer I would have other wise missed if it was not for their diligent calls to communicate what I was entitled to. I use Marriott frequently and would take them up on a promotion any day.

Woman's voice, won't leave her name - asking for my husband who is a frequent traveller.  Third time she has called, will not leave a message - just that she'll call back.  Obtained the number via *69

Received the call on 26 Jun 08 at 6:32 p.m CST.  Said he was calling from Marriott Vacations because I was a Marriott Rewards member (which I am) and therefore qualified for a special vacation package--for just $199 I could enjoy a free week in Florida.  Told him I didn't need it.  He came back immediately with, "You don't need a vacation?!?"  Laughed and told him I wasn't interested, and hung up on him.  No repeat calls as of yet.

    Annoyed by telemarketers
I got a call from this number tonight.  They asked for my husband, who is a Marriott Rewards member.  WHen I told them he wasn't available, they said "well this is the Marriott & we'll call back."  We recently had some credit card fraud, so I was concerned & looked up the number.  I certainly hope it's just a telemarketer & they're not calling to say there were charges booked for the Marriott on our credit card!

Look, If your cell phone or unlisted number was contacted it is because you signed up for something during a stay and left that number. It's not a scam it is legit and the reason they don't do mail outs is because people will throw them away as junk mail and the expense is wasted. All you have to do is say you're "not interested" and use those exact words and the calls will stop. If you're called repeatedly it is because you never answer and it is the reps job to contact their assigned guests. If you're skeptical about the authenticity of the offer ask them to verify that they're Marriott and they will with either a previous stay, email that you gave them, marriott reward point balance, credit card on file or all of the above. Everyone is so weary of this because of other scam artists and is quick to assume the same. It is a valid offer from Marriott.

I got called by a woman with a Caribbean accent on 18Nov08 about 8:30 pm.  I was offered a 4 night 5 day stay at a palm beach hotel in non-peak season because I was a Marriott rewards member.  I know that Marriott doesn't have my land line, so I was confused.  The deal was almost believable, but also just a bit too good to be true.  I declined, then called Marriott's reward club line.  They didn't seem to know much about it, but apparently Googled the number, and by that info claimed it was fake.

I suppose it's possible that Marriott is so big that it doesn't know what another part is doing, but for a deal that seems too good to be true, and they want your credit card info on the spot, I'd say where there's smoke there's fire...

It may be Marriott offering a 3 day 2 night $99 weekend package.  It appears to be legit.

It's essentially a time share pitch. They'll talk to you for a long time before they get to the timeshare part. If you let them get that far and then say you're not interesetd, they offered me a $50 visa gift card on top of the cheap 3 day stay.... so if you're interested in this sort of thing, definitely try to milk them for all they're worth.
