- Anonym replies to maxSaying "do not call" or stating you are on the National DO NOT CALL LIST is meaningless for the law breaking phone spammers. They call back anyway, thereby breaking the law again.
Now repeat after me, "folks that are working for a living" for these law breaking crooked companies deserve to be harassed. So, stop being a "jerk" "because Karma is ugly"! - MRGoldEliteMemberI am a Marriott gold elite member and was called and purchased a four-night stay at a beach side resort for about $1000 less than going price. Paid $199 and then another $150 to upgrade from Orlando to Palm Beach. It is legitimate. I did attend an almost 2-hour sales presentation regarding the Marriott Vacation Club ownership program. There was good value in the offer, and as many other posters have said, it is legitimate. I have worked for three fortune-500 telecommunication companies; and any time you stay at a Marriott or sign up for Marriott Rewards or book a hotel online through Marriott or Priceline etc; you are agreeing to allow the company to contact you. The Do Not Call registry is for companies that are randomly contacting you. That doesn't apply in this case. Like it or not, yes it is marketing . . . but almost everything is. And Marriott's customer service is consistently ranked number 1 among multiple independent surveys. But it's not a scam. And it is not a violation of the Do Not Call registry.

- iLionThis was a Mariott call. They left msg.
This really works for me: I only answer the phone if I know the number and want to answer at that time. Otherwise, I ignore the ringng or I hit the button on cell that stops the ringing without answering it... they can leave a msg (of course, most don't). And no need to hear the entire msg later before hitting 'delete'... it's usually obvious what it is right away, so it only takes a few moments to go thru even several msgs.
I don't see it as a huge bother. If I don't know the number, I don't answer. Very simple. If they leave a msg, I check it at my convenience and respond, or not, as I see fit. It keeps life calm, I have no anger about any of it, and life is good. :)
Telling callers to 'not call' is completely meaningless (as is Do Not Call list, apparently). Some of those call lists used by telemarketers are worth money to them, because when they are done with the list (i.,e., 'done' as in have called and recalled everyone multiple times and do not believe they can make any more money from it), they sell the list to the next telemarketing schemers who seem to think they can squeeze something out of it by being even more brutal. (This is more true of the 'bad debt' collector types.)
Being mean with the caller is not great either. You might feel better for it, but you can shoot yourself in the foot that way, too. I think if I was one of them and you just ticked me off, I'd flag your name in a way that would guarantee you got more calls than ever. Threats against me or my "company" would be totally meaningless, too.- Call type: Telemarketer
- Robodude replies to RupertIf only you knew what you were talking about
- Dusty RoseI received a call on my cell phone from this number today. I didn't answer and guess what...no message. I never stayed at a Marriott and never filled out anything with my cell number on it. To the people on this site who claim that the calls are legit...why are you even on this site? People who get legit calls don't go around looking up those phone numbers online. Those reports are obviously a scam. Since caller id can be faked you can't rely on the id to know who called. The actual phone number does belong to Marriott but since there was no message I don't know who really called. Don't be fooled by scams and scam reviewers.
- annenever signed up for anything. did stay at marriot hotel and i resent the use of my number. don't answer these
calls. report them to donotcall and in this case will write corporation. after reporting, number will be blocked.
these folks are trained not to take no for an answer.- Caller: marriot vacaton
- Mike McNamaraWant them to stop calling me.
- Caller: Marritot
- Gompers replies to LOL ALERT" IF THIS WAS A "SCAM" OR A "BOILER ROOM" DON'T YOU THINK IT WOULD HAVE BEEN SHUT DOWN BY NOW?"
Nope! I am still getting calls from spoofed numbers that "Rachel of Card Member Services" has been using for many years. - TAC-50 SniperCaller ID showed "MARRIOTT VA"
They didn't leave a message.
IF (and that's a big IF) they are legit, all they succeeded in doing is pissing me off. There are plenty of other hotels at which I can stay that don't harass their guests.- Caller: MARRIOTT VA
- Call type: Telemarketer
- SickofitIt's Marriot or at least a Marriot related telemarketer .
Feel free to e-mail Arne M Sorenson (arne.sorenson@marriot.com) CEO, and let him know how annoying these calls are, and there are plenty of other hotels to stay in that don't bombard you with nuisance calls.- Caller: Marriot

- lies replies to IJustworkhereLol. Omg. I have spoken with Marriott head office and they confirmed this is a scam. Both RCMP in Canada and FBI in USA including Interpol are investigating and going to get this shutdown. Don't know what your boss said but it ain't true. Hopefully you can find a real decent job and be able to sleep at night.
Cheers - Davescammers called; didn't answer it; blocked this number from future calling.

- BillySOhhh, no. Here we go again with these unwanted calls from these fools. I thought I had rid myself long ago :(
- Caller: Marriott Vacation
- EricIs it a scam? I think it is - but they will never get an answer from me so I will never know. I have not signed up for anything (no win a vacation, nothing at all since I know this is where some people get the numbers to call)
So they are in violation of the do not call list as far as I am concerned and also a scammer as far as I am concerned.- Caller: Marriot VA
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Eric replies to VoogDeiIf this is truly Marriott Vacation Club - and I do not believe it for a minute. - I would not ruin my vacation to listen to someone spend hours trying to convince me to buy into the club. I can spend less on hotels and have many more places to go than any of these vacation clubs and i am not tied into it. Forget it.
- InNJ| 1 reply"Marriott" is now also calling from 407-903-6300 so now both numbers are blocked.
- Caller: Marriott
- InNJ replies to InNJIn reviewing my call list, I note Marriott called from the 407-903-6100 number last night and got cut off because that number is blocked so they tried this morning from the 6300 number.
- J replies to TomIt's peta dope and it is legit and you signed up for it
- It's LegitOne more vote for this being legit. I checked here first because I was skeptical, but it turned out to be a real offer from Marriott, which I do a lot of business with. They didn't end up leaving a message until the 3rd call, which said they would only try one more time.
- Caller: Marriott

- JT replies to V. ChaseI have used these exact words plus, "Please do not call me again" and I still get these calls every few weeks.
