- Tamianth replies to DHFor a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number. For tracfone & straight talk:

For text messages: forwarding any text message spam you get to the short code “7726,” which spells “spam” on most phones, to alert your network operator to the abuse. ATT won't accept 7726 But they will accept BLOCK and return a message that the web site is blocked. forward the texts to 7726 or BLOCK, depending on your phone carrier.

I am not into the cell phone and texting thing like everyone in todays world. Just felt the need to share when answering it said it was Yahoo and left a code 51814 and I do not have a yahoo account for anything. So no understanding what the call was for?????????? - caller: 408-610-4900

- William replies to Track Phone| 3 repliesYahoo requires new accounts to be set up with a telephone number for validation, and the phone can be any kind. This is so in the future, when someone tries to log in an account, the Yahoo website can ask the person to choose between getting a code, by text or by voice, sent to the telephone number that is in the account records. Without the code, the attempt to log in will be denied. This is called 2-factor authentication; first factor is the name and password, second factor is the challenge by the website with the telephone text/call.
You got the text because ... three possibilities :
1) A scammer typed a random telephone number when they created a Yahoo account, hoping the company would not call the number for verification.
2) A normal person typed their number when they created a Yahoo account ... or thought they did, and got digits mistyped. Now they cannot access that account because they cannot get the code to put in.
3) A hacker got into an existing Yahoo account and and changed the number to your number, intentionally or by mistake. - Krystal arciaga replies to DHPlease send me my verification code because i didn't undestand what you say last time

- jsd1950Received a call from this number at 7:32 am today. The caller id said "San Jose, CA". I answered it because I have friends in CA and thought it might be them. It was an automated recording that sounded like the "this is Rachel from card services" type callers. I hung up right away when I realized it was a recording.
- Caller: don't know

- helperThis truly is Yahoo service giving you a security code for you to gain access to your email account. Depends on what is registered with them, whether they call, email, our text the code to you. If it's an unwanted call, either someone had your number from gawd knows when, or.... check your Yahoo account bc someone is trying to use your account. Peace
