Received a text telling me my password was changed and my account is locked.sent me a code but did not put it in was not sure if real or scam

This the number is from Scammers. They are losers who can't make an honest living

I can't imagine Yahoo being stupid enough to call at 12:45 AM.  It is Not legal to make business cold calls at that hour, and you would be within your rights to report it to the feds.  Also a complaint to the Better Business Bureau.
From the varying reports here, I suspect that some of these calls might be legitimately Yahoo calling, then again others might be spoofed, or perhaps Yahoo uses a telemarketing firm for these calls, and sometimes the telemarketing provider also uses that number to place calls other than Yahoo.
I for one have not done business with Yahoo for years, nor used an ancient email.  There would be no reason for them to have called me yesterday.

Yahoo doesn't call or make telemarketing calls.  From reading the other posts it appears they are sending out a verification code.  That code is usually a two step code when you change your password.  The scammer trying to access your account would then call you and convince you that they are Yahoo and they want to help you but they need that code number.  Once you give it to them they have changed your password and can now access your account.

Why would you bother complaining to a worthless, toothless organization like the BBB?

Unable to identify or understand voice mail

First time attempt from these scum.  Obviously has been going on since 2015.  These scum have hijacked what might have been a legitimate number but from reading the posts it's the usual scumbags running a scam.  AOL nor YAHOO is trying to call me.  Listed on several websitesmall as negative.

Left a voicemail of a male voice humming into the phone twice.

Almost The Identical thing happened to me I didn't recognize the number. I declined it immediately started ringing again. Not one or two seconds later, immediately in a weird way. That happened three or four times while I kept declining then I just turn down the volume and it went to voicemail. And then immediately after that I received the text message saying it was a Yahoo verification code.

I received 2 calls giving me an AOL verification code. I also received 4 text messages from 36742 with verification codes for AOL. This all occurred back to back. I didn’t request this nor do I have an AOL account. I called AOL and they have no record of an account for me with my number or name. I suspect this is a scam or someone trying to hack me.

Yes, I had just set up a new Yahoo account. Thx for the input everyone!

i tried to change my password to my aol and gmail accounts , the minute it was going to text me a code this 1-408-610-4900 phone call started coming on ,my phone
this time left a strange vm with a hyper link 49966296 goodbye49946296  something to that effect i didnt want vm to go to the end just incase it would activate something

Fake spammer, i did not request a yahoo ID code. I don't even have a yahoo account.

This is the number that called me to give me a verification code to verify my identity when I either forgot my pw or it stopped working, but it was an AOL account, not Yahoo. It must be a centralized place that handles such calls for several online services??  I'd venture to guess that if you're receiving calls from this number and you have NOT recently lost a password or added some information to any of your online accounts, CHANGE your password for the online service calling you, because someone else may be trying to gain access to your account.

Verizon Communications acquired AOL in 2015. When Verizon Communications purchased Yahoo!'s business in 2017, it merged AOL and Yahoo into a subsidiary named Oath Inc.

Always remember scammers can spoof any phone number and impersonate whomever the number really belongs to. If you did not request a verification, then someone else did.
