When I called the # and talked to this man I told him I didnt have a chcking or saving acct. could I deposit itinto someone elses he said yes thats fine, but I started thinking about it so I called him back and asked if I could put it on a debit card and he said yes that I could when I got the money on there call him back. - Too hopeful replies to So Grateful| 1 replySorry guys I have to say that I'm having a breakdown reading this & wish I had looked this up sooner. It looks like I just got scammed for around $2750, I hope that is all.I recieved a check for 3875 stating I was a winner as well of $125,000. I followed the instructions deposited the check, western unioned the fed tax funds in the amount of 1,875 yesterday. I recieved a call this morning stating I needed to send an additional amount of $1525 in state taxes to the same fed tax agent in Ireland before my winnings would be delivered via fed ex. I then decided to see what info I could find on this lotto. Much to my surprise I see all of this. This is a scam that needs to be known by everyone. Peope like me who believe God works in mysterious ways & this could be one may just fall for the scam too. I am not ignorant the fact that I recieved money first to pay taxes which I know you have to pay taxes on winnings & the large dept store names, & the Chase check is what drew me in.

- CO replies to Lucy Mitchell| 2 repliesI did not receive a letter, I received a TEXT message on my phone. It stated that I had won $1.2 million dollars in a random drawing of phone numbers to promote the 2014 Powerball. The game is from the UK and they drew numbers from UK, Canada, and the US. I asked them to verify that it is legit. They told me I would have to come to the UK to see for myself. I was also told that the information had been publicised. I asked where, and was told on the internet. I told them that I had spoken 'to my attorney and that he was verifying the the information I had been given. I was told that I needed to send $450 to cover legalization and courier delivery costs. As of yet, I have not located any publications nor any information on the UK having a "POWERBALL" game.

Someone had mentioned it being check fraud. Because these people are not in America, our laws do not pertain the them! International laws are very different from ours, and then there is also the problem of getting the governments in these other countries to cooperate with us in doing anything about these issues is a joke! That is why they target us, and why they are successful! Contact your local fraud unit and give them all of the information that you have. They will step in and contact the scammers, and you will never hear from them again. - DeborahI got the same check...too good to be true. I decided to Google before given them a call and saw your message. Thanks for the head up.
- Sam & Chuck replies to lbWe got the same letter and decided it was too good to be true. I googled it and found all of you who had the same idea. Too bad! Could have really used the extra money! Ours had Capital One on the envelope. Wonder if they know their name is being used?
