- Anne replies to TamiHome Depot doesn't care - they just want you to buy, buy buy and I don't think they feel that threatened by Lowe's.
- Anne replies to dudethatknowssomethingI tried to negotiate and speak with the collectors in a civil manner. They don't want to help me. They don't care if their customers are in financial trouble due to lack of income. They want their money. They don't want to work or negotiate with you either. They would sell their grandmother first. The mafia is better than this at least they just break your arm. Wake up, hunny, and stop kidding yourself thinking THD wants to help their customers. They are in it for the money.
- A| 3 repliesReceived a call on my cell phone 06-26-2009 at 0850 CDT. Recorded call and was forced to wait on hold for a live person. Recording identified call as reguarding my Home Depot account. I do not have a Home Depot account. When th live person came on, the wanted to discuss my outstanding balance. I told the caller this number was on the do not call list and to remove it from their call list permanantly. I further told them I would be reporting the call due to their disregard of the FCC do-not-call laws.

- Doesn'tMatterI have a HD card HOWEVER, I just called them last week to straighten out my situation. Yes, I CALLED THEM, they didn't have to call me first, I made the initiative to explain my circumstances. I work for the state of PA which is not getting paid currently do to the budget impasse and we are looking at not getting a paycheck until August at the EARLIEST. They were "understanding" and deferred my payments for 2 months so why are they still calling??? They obviously don't know what they are doing or don't have updated information. I will call them back when I get a break at work but don't appreciate the calls at my job.
- MichaelOur neighbor started receiving calls from this number last week. 3-5 calls per day. All between 8am and 5pm.
After reading the entries on this site, I verified that she did not have Home Depot or Citibank cards. Then I called the number on her behalf (she speaks only broken English). It was answered by the Home Depot collections team at Citibank. I gave them the number and told them she didn't have Home Depot or Citibank accounts.
The operator said she couldn't find the number, didn't believe they were calling it, and, therefore, couldn't stop the calls. I said I would gladly fax them the inbound call log for that number to prove that they were calling it. Further, that I was looking at this site and it appeared this problem was affecting a considerable number of people. Finally, I told her she needed to find a way to fix the problem as there was no doubt the inbound calls were coming from them, frequently. She passed me to her supervisor.
Her supervisor did about 3 minutes of research. The supervisor found that a Home Depot cardholder had changed his/her contact number to this number in September of last year. That account subsequently went into collections. She promised to remove this number from that account and that the calls would cease at midnight.
While I don't want to read too much into my one experience, one could conclude that in an effort to avoid collections calls cardholders are purposefully changing their contact information. When the account goes into collection, the debt collector starts to track down the cardholder using the information that is immediately available. Hence the calls.
Long story short, if you don't owe Home Depot / Citibank money, call the number back between 8am and 5pm and ask them to remove your number. If they can't find your number, offer to provide them proof and compel them to take corrective action.- Caller: Citibank / Home Depot

- Bobby replies to GuardianI got a call from them, answered it, heard some recording telling me to hold, and hung up. I was at work and didn't have time for what seemed like a telemarketer call. And they proceeded to call 2 or 3 more times in the next 24 hours. So that policy you speak of doesn't seem to apply any more.
I then set the ringer for that number to "No Ringtone", so now I don't even know they are calling until I hear the "missed call" sound. They have called me at least 9 times now in the past 5 days (9 in my log... I think it's more like 12 times now)
They would have a much easier time getting a hold of me if they would just call once and leave a message. In fact an email would have been more effective since I will be at my computer when I receive it, so I can jump onto my bank website and make the payment rather than trying to remember to do it later.
Anyway I initiated a payment the other day before I figured out that it was related to HD Credit (just now). So apparently even my super-ADD brain is better at reminding me than this collection agency. - sCiti Card for Home Depot Credit Cards

I love reading nonsense like this.
They call me too as I haven't made a payment in a few months so I can expect the calls. They call at awesome times too like 8:00 A.M, Lunch, Dinner and maybe 9:00 everyday. They get an A+ from me for annoyance.- Caller: Home Depot

- W0W replies to A| 2 repliesWOW, You must be pretty important to have connections with the FCC. There are way too many loop holes with all this garbage. You WILL continue to get calls, you WILL NOT be able to do anything about it so puffing your chest out saying "this number is on the do not call list" does absolutely nothing but make you look like an idiot. The whole thing is a hoax, there is no such thing as the do not call list.
Answer the phone, explain you don't have an account if thats your case and those of you deadbeats, answer the phone, explain your situation and make a consious effort to pay back the money you borrowed, simple. God forbid a bank should want the money back that you used to buy something, the nerve of the bank... - terrythey keep calling. I think it is a phishing scam
- LAMET replies to JohnFor your information - FDCPA applies to 3rd party collections only - not the original creditor -so don't be surprised if your FDCPA lawsuit gets thrown out
- LAMET replies to W0W| 1 replyYES THERE IS A DO NOT CALL LIST AND IT DOES WORK - BUT ONLY WHEN EVERYONE FILES FORMAL COMPLAINTS. problem is most people only gripe on complaint boards and NEVER FOLLOW UP with formal complaints to the agencies that will stop them
here is PROOF
Telemarketer Shut Down For Violating "Do Not Call" Rule
Court imposes five-year ban on telemarketing to consumers

Do Not Call
A financial services telemarketer accused of violating several requirements of the Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) Do Not Call Rule -- from calling hundreds of thousands of consumers on the National Do Not Call Registry to failing to transmit accurate caller ID information -- has settled the government's charges and is banned from telemarketing to consumers for five years.
In November 2007, as part of a multi-case crackdown on Do Not Call violators, the government charged Global Mortgage Funding, Inc. and its owner, Damian Robert Kutzner, with unlawfully calling consumers on the Do Not Call Registry in an attempt to sell financial products, including mortgages and related financing services.
The complaint also contained charges of violating the FTC's Do Not Call Rule by failing to transmit accurate caller ID information, failing to pay fees required to access the Registry, and abandoning calls by not connecting consumers to a representative within two seconds after they answered the phone.
Following a lengthy investigation by the FTC, the lawsuit was filed and litigated by the Department of Justice on the Commission's behalf.
The agreed-upon court order bans Kutzner and anyone working with him from participating in telemarketing to consumers, and from helping others involved in telemarketing to consumers, for five years.
It also permanently bans Kutzner from violating the Telemarketing Sales Rule, as well as its Do Not Call provisions, which include calling consumers on the National Do Not Call Registry, failing to provide accurate caller ID information, calling consumers who have said they do not want to be called, and abandoning calls.
The order imposes a $6 million civil penalty against Kutzner and Global Mortgage and imposes reporting and record-keeping provisions to help monitor Kutzner's compliance. Finally, the order ensures that Global Mortgage will not resume its operation or benefit from its past conduct.
Both Global Mortgage and Kutzner had a previous run-in with the FTC, which sued them in 2002 for allegedly sending "spoofed" e-mails that offered mortgages and purported to be from legitimate banks.
Global and Kutzner signed a consent decree in 2003 in which they agreed to pay over $60,000 to resolve that litigation and accepted a court order prohibiting them from future "spoofing" and other misrepresentations.
