I have one rule about phone calls -- if it's not worth it for you to leave a message, it must not be important enough for me to call back. You say you saw a message regarding calling "a house over 100 times with no answer or return call," but you say nothing about having a record of having left a message… I've received exactly two calls, back to back this morning, from this number, and no message was left either time. So I have to assume it isn't important.

Do what I do.  These people kept calling me 5-6 times a day (which is illegal).  I've documented the calls and currently have a lawsuit which is yet to be resolved. What's worse is that my credit is perfect and I've never been delinquent on ANYTHING.  Yet these people fail to heed my warnings.  Well, I don't f### around.  If enough of you actually SUED for these violations, then the government would step in and nail them for millions like they have with other collectors that don't abide by the law.  They MUST validate the debt in writing or leave you alone.  It's that simple.  Just go after them, it works.  You'll get $1000 per violation that you can prove.

The callers from this number never start with "hello I am from....".  Instead, the caller's message starts with "press 5" or "press 2".  I never finish listening to the message because I know it is a scam.  The problem is, I get calls from this number 3 to 6 times a day.  Now, when my phone rings and my caller ID shows the # 423-477-6983, I do not answer the call.  Instead, I pick up the phone and disconnect the caller immediately.  I called my phone service (Qwest) and they cannot block this phone number without blocking all others who call from private lines.  Qwest suggested I call the feds @ 1-800-582-0655 to resolve this nagging and frustrating issue.  Any other suggestions are welcome.  By the way, is there a way that all the complaints (regarding 423-477-6983) reported on this web page can be sent to the feds as evidence of unlawful practices?

I _do_ have a Home Depot account, I prefer them to Lowe's, and I am late with my payment (which will be rectified shortly), but Citibank's calling mechanism is a HUGE irritant, which will only hurt Home Depot.  For example, I received a call from this number today (Dec. 27th, 2008) at 2:22P, 11:48A, yesterday at 5:25P, 2:30P, 11:25A, and 9:18A, Dec 26th at 3:17P and 12:11P (which is as far back as my caller id reached); most of these were hang-ups.  This is not a very nice way to do business.

I have service with Qwest.  Just called them and asked how to block that #.  After they call, just dial *60 and follow the instructions....Blocked FOREVER!

They were't able to take debit card payments until around may or june; so, where are you getting your crazy information?

Caller is calling my cell phone.  I did not recognize the prefix so I did not answer or return the call.  In searching on the web for this number (423) 477-6983.  There are numerous complaints about this call from Tennessee supposedly from Home Depot collections.  I do not have a Home Depot credit card and they would not have my new cell phone number.  This person needs to be investigated!

They call and call and when answered, don't speak... in this game the agency PROVES they have made collection attempts by contacting you.  You get charged more if you default on the account they are "collecting" for...  tis fraud if you and I go to court and say we have adhered to "service of process", but this agency, hired by Home Depot, usually, does this as a business practice.

They have called me three times today, starting at 8:15 AM..my payment isn't even DUE until Feb. 28th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They leave NO message.
DO NOT DEAL WITH HOME DEPOT.

I DO have a Home Depot account, and I forgot to pay and they called me from this number to remind me.

So yeah, its legit.

They are a collection agency for HOme Depot.

I keep getting these calls from this number and a soon as I answer it tells me to hold on the line.  Then they hang up on me.  If they are trying to collect a debt maybe the idiots shouldnt hang up on people.

I was out of town this last weekend, and forgot to make a payment that was due on the 23 as I had been preoccupied with packing, etc.  Well, I paid the bill online this morning, and the phone calls from this Citi Commerce started today - about 4 hours after I paid the bill!?  They have called 4 times now, about 2 minutes apart for each set of two.  Now that I know whom the number belongs to, I will answer and hopefully correct the situation.  I have never been late with this card before, it was merely an oversite on my part.  I simply wish that they would leave a legitimate message on the answering machine, then the anoyance of the ringing phone could be avoided, as I do not answer unfamiliar numbers. That is the purpose of an answering machine, albeit the message is in French - to discourage solicitors :)

They called around 10 times per day. I want them stop!STOP!!!

I work for THD collections...Pick up the phone and talk to the people calling you!  If you cant pay WE CAN help you...FYI cursing,lying and being evasive only hurts you in these kinds of situations.  To be honest when we do speak to someone who is trying to help themselves, we work that much harder to help you out.  Not all collectors are evil nasty people...Also you should tune into Dave Ramsey!  Everything he says is dead on other than that you should ignore collectors (at least for THD) we want nothing more than to help out!  

Also if you dont have an account and are getting call please remember that people change #'s a lot now.  So many times this is what happens, tell someone you may get 1 or 2 more calls until our systems update but that should clear it up...however we are allowed by law to call back to that number if it appers it could have belonged to a card holder.  

Im not sure where people are getting some info but, we can call again by law up to 9 times a day (if we do not speak to you) So pickup and have an meaningful intelligent conversation it will help you out a lot.  PLEASE REMEMBER WE ARE PEOPLE TOO!  WE CAN HELP YOU MORE THAN YOU CAN EVEN IMAGINE SO TALK TO US!!

First off, pick up the phone and tell them when you think you will have the money and the calls will stop. They will only restart if you break your promise to pay your delinquent account within a few days of when you say.

Second, if they make contact with you, even if you hang up, they can't call back for 24hours due to their policy. So by not picking up the phone you are allowing them to call you as much as they want. They also don't leave a message because that counts as contact.... So pick up the phone.

If they are calling then it is in their system that you have a delinquent account. You may be unaware of a finance charge or something, or it might be a mistake. Either way, you would be wise to pick up and find out.

They may not be wasting your time, but they are ruining your credit. If your credit score is important to you, pick up the phone.

I like the way you think. I sure did it & they can call all they want because im not paying them a penny. I worked for that company & they dont know what they are doing, Its the worst job i have ever had in my life. I hate bothering people i know how it feels thats y i couldnt work there. I did whatever the customer asked & gave them whatever they wanted but the managers still wasnt happy. They are all about money money money.
