- I have the solutionMy phone carrier has selective call transfer. I put in the number from mb&w and now when they call, it's transferred to the local FBI field office. I'd pay to be a fly on the wall when they call again and have to explain it all to an federal agent!
- Caller: Mb&w
- morgan replies to David MAbsolutely correct. This outfit is a second rate collection agency that buys up junk debt. One of their 'feeders' is a thug outfit, in Texas, called LTD. If LTD cannot get all of the debt paid, they sell it to MB&W. Also when you first deal with them, they try to make you think they are a law firm. Even their letter head resembles a law firms letterhead, until you read it closely. Under no circumstances is this outfit a law firm. Like I said, they are a second rate collection agency and they are not as smart or clever as they'd like you think they are.
You can play 'hardball' with them and in some cases they'll fold like a cheap camera. Stand your ground and do not let them bully you. Also, they love to try the so called soft sell approach at first and they usually operate through a woman named Adrienne Reiger. When she can't close the debt, your matter gets sent to her alleged supervisor, Victoria Georguiss. She's supposed to be the manager. Doubtful ? When you call them and ask to speak with Reiger, all of as sudden she's... quote.... 'no longer able to come to the phone.' I guess she must be perpetually powdering her nose in the bathroom.
If they send you a document to sign, read it carefully, you can rest assured the document is purposely written to give them every right under the sun, and to take away from you as much as they can get away with
If you ask them to sign a document, they'll give you this double talk run around about how their client cannot accept what you want. That's just more of their nonsense and hooey. They don't represent a client. They represent themselves, because they've already purchased the debt and they own it. Their client has long since sold out the debt to them and he is paid.
Also they try this crap.....'well we've spoken to our client and he is willing to settle the debt for a lesser figure than what you actually owe'. This is more of their BS. They've already bought the debt at a discounted rate and the rate they are quoting you has a markup (built in profit) for them. Believe me, you're not getting any break from this outfit or any of these other arm twisters. Their feeder has sold them the debt for the best possible price he can get. They're coming after you for nothin' but pure profit. So the only 'client' they are interested in, is themselves.
Remeber the people who work at this operation are the same as you. Chances are they are not specialists in any given field, but rather are extensivley trained in harassment techniques all designed to scare you. They are well trained and well versed (from attending training) seminars on how to get you to pay ,and pay up fast. Don't lose sight of the fact that, chances are the person you're dealing with was probably selling bras at Victoria's Secret three years ago, before she moved over to the more luctrative collection racket. And remember they work on comission. The more debt they collect, the more they get paid.
If you can, hire a lawyer and hit them right back. Then watch how fast their tone changes when your lawyer calls them. All of a sudden they're just like docile kittens.
Stand up to these thugs and don't let them run roughshod over you. You have rights to. Finally, record everything they say to you and then memorialize it in a letter back to them, so they can never say ...'oh we never got that'. This operation loves to call you on the phone and they record everything they say to you. If you end up in Court, just try and get a copy of their taped call to you. First they'll tell you it was lost or it no longer exists, or if you're lucky enough to get a copy of the taped call you can bet anything you said, that supports your position, will have been conveniently edited out. - samewithme replies to TamiI have had the same situation with this GUS PEREZ guy. He called me and from that point on, my whole day and evening is shot. I feel helpless. We bought a business, sold it, and the guy who took over never paid bills so now this guy is coming after me. Is that allowed?
- JennyThis company called my office on Nov 12, 2010 and my sister took the message. They too acted as if they were a debt collector and had a very important debt to collect. When she asked for the information the caller "Bill" was trying to collect a debt that is only 60 days old for VERIZON PHONE at my other location. The amount was $24.31. What a waste of time and energy for such a small amount. These guys are really bottom feeders. It was an oversite on my part but what are they going to do shut you down for a lousy 20 bucks? How stupid.

- Rick replies to All the answersJohn, You have a good point that probably applies to most of the comments listed. In our case though, we advertised with a phone book company with internet links. They listed the info wrong, and we refuse to reimburse us for payments made. MBandW are now trying to collect on the outstanding balance. That’s all they want is to collect. They could care less if we were satisfied with the product supplied by their client. The phone book has moved out of our area, or filed bankruptcy. It make since now why the phone book did not resolve our complaints. MBandW have provided a copy of a contract signed but that is all. They refuse to supply any of our payments made to the phone book and do not want to hear that we were not satisfied with their client. Now what would your recommendations be, "John" to our company, being we pay our debt and have the money to pay this claim, but just refuse because we did not receive the services that we agreed too??
- neeniContinuous calls from these people, say I owe Verizon, however. i am a good standing customer with verizon. Still have my phone, TV and internet with them. I asked for proof of debt along with any and all proof that they have of this account. Its been five weeks and I have not received anything

- Vinnie replies to "Hot Button"These guys totally broke the law when they called me with stuff like "we just need to touch base with one of you there at ^^^^^^ company to be sure we are on the same page concerning this court stuff we have coming up Friday (he had already identified himself as Joe Blow with yada yada law crap> He did not identify that this call is an attempt to collect a debt as he is required to do by law. I just saved him in my contacts with the ringtone for that number set at "no ring". I put a "Z" in front of his contact so he is back at the back of the list with the other scumb so that I don't have to scroll through it all the time.

- tp replies to S.R.AT&T sold our phone records - all of our phone records - illegally. I dumped them as soon as I found out & use Credo - a truly ethical phone company - exclusively now. Look them up. Don't support AT&T another day - they are just as bad as this bully phony law firm, in a different way!
- RobynThanks to all of you. I just received a call from this number regarding my husband's business. First off, why were they calling our home instead of his business. Sure made me wonder. And that is just what I said to the lady on the telephone. "Well, if this pertains to his business, why aren't you calling him there" This web sight may have just saved my marriage.

- Teresa| 1 replyI got a call from Mr. Gray , an african american, who first claimed he was with a law firm. When actually it was mccarthy burgess and wolff, a collection agency. He continued to harass me five times per day. I told him that he can take further action if he likes. Just don't answer their calls and save all your messages. They all work for commission and have a quota to meet. Mr. Gray calls me over and over but I keep telling him he is not going to feed his family by me paying him. I wrote him a letter stating to cist and decist, but he said he is going to continued calling me, which shows he's very desperate for a commission. Also, please be aware if you are an individual and you write them a letter telling them to stop calling you, by law they have to stop calling or you can file a lawsuit against them. Furthermore, a class action lawsuit has been filed against debt collectors. It was on the national news last week that they were going to crack down on the debt collector harassing consumers and the media said to make sure to get their name and the address of the company and write them a letter to cist and decist and if they continued, you can file suit. WELCOME TO AMERICA, THE ENTIRE COUNTRY IS IN DEBT. JUST TO GIVE ALL YOU AN ADVICE IF YOU BEGAN PAYING ON A DEBT THAT HAS AGE IT STARTS ALL OVER AGAIN FOR SEVEN YEARS.
