I work for Wells Fargo as a collector in Credit Card Services!!! I can assure you the legitimacy of this number. It goes to the personal credit card collections unit. It can be a very tricky job, having to hook the customer before they hang up on you. We are located in Oregon in a large call center on an auto-dialer. I get at least 5 people a day call in and say "Please take me off the list, this number 503 blah blah calls me five times a day!" My job as a collector is to make sure that I'm not removing a correct phone number, so we ask who we are speaking to!!!

LOL @ this whole thing.

P.S. we call from an unblocked number so you'll answer! (people rarely answer private calls)

If you don't believe me, then call the 503 number, and then right after that call 1-800-988-8019, because you'll get the same answer, and you can verify the legitimacy of the second number.

Don't have any accounts or credit cards through Wells Fargo. How do you explain that. Oh and for your information, the caller ID/call came in as "UNKNOWN" and no message was left. Maybe you should change the Unknown to Wells FArgo. I'm an ID theft victim and this just confirms it more. LOL @ Wells Fargo's inaptitude.

i got six calls in one day from 503-403-2674. whenever i answered it sounded like nothing on the other line. it's pretty odd. i had my friend answer the sixth call and she thought the same thing. when i googled the number i was surprise to see how many other people this has happened to. i will probably call the number back tomorrow and see if i get an answer. bizarro.

this number has been calling me all day. same as everyone else: no messages, and i'm WF customer for many years. so, is it a scam or what?

recieved several calls at all times of the day.NEVER LEAVING A MESSAGE. I called number, it was wells fargo, they will ask for your name , you don't have to give it to them, just have them stop calling your phone number.They asked me if I knew a ashley melon. That's not even my name. Be aware of not giving your name.

Ok so I received two calls from this number today. After reading all these post I decided to check my WF bank accounts. Sure enough I had forgotten to pay one of my credit card bills. I never did answer the phone but I do believe that it is some sort of debt collections from WF.

I got a call from this number. I checked online and saw that I had missed a credit card payment, so it wasn't fraud or a scam for me

Repeat calls with no message left.

Straight up scam: called my bank and they have nothing to do with it.

Collector: you are involved in this scam. Having the same automated telephone system doesn't prove anything. I called and all the guy could do was ask for my credit card number. I asked if he found it strange that the bank would call me asking for my account number (being that they gave it to me); he didn't.

I called my banks credit card department and they said they hadn't contacted me. On top of that they contact me in a different manner when I'm overdrawn.

it called 3 times in the last two days, same deal. no message. i have a WF account as well...i called it back and it says "your call can not be completed as diales. please hang up and try again." so i dont know if its really a WF number or if someone maybe got a hold of a list of WF customers and are trying to scam us. Just be careful.

by filling this out... what will be done about these unwanted calls?

got 2 calls from this number today.  I didn't answer either time, and neither time did the caller leave a message.  I also have a WF account, so I am going to call my bank and make sure that my account has not been tampered with.  CREEPY!

This is not a scam. It is a Wells Fargo Collection Department for credit cards -- separate from banking checking & savings departments. I had a payment due on my credit card when I called to inquire. If you call the number on the back of your card or your general "Wells Fargo Card Services" number, you can verify the status of your account. They are rude to say the least, have a poor quality dialing system (you have to wait for a good 15 seconds+ for the call to connect or it just hangs up) and based on the previous comments, cannot apply an efficient procedure to remove wrong numbers. Their biggest fault is their unprofessionalism.

I got a call from this number as well. I have a wells fargo account and credit card. I didn't answer it. But i immediately logged in to my account online and realized i was late on my credit card bill. i paid it and i have not got a call from them again.

I received (7) calls total since May 1st.

They never once left a voicemail! I didn't answer because I read all the postings here. My boyfriend had received a phone call on his cell so I was like ok... enough.

It is Wells Fargo. I had a credit account through them, which I closed a couple weeks back thanks to my boyfriend paying off the balance. I guess the account info given was wrong and hadn't gone through so it took them this long to figure it out.

I suggest Wells Fargo take the initiative to leave a message like EVERY other collection department. I was told that I can make a payment to the bank branch for the balance. Once I check my boyfriends account... I'll be doing that.

This number is not fraudulent. Just answer the calls. They will never stop.

got a call from 503-403-2674. read through the comments and at first thought it was a scam. checked my wells fargo account online and saw that i was past due on one of my cc payments. i don't think its a scam.

I got this call on my cell phone, didn't recognize the #, so didn't answer. Since I've gotten these unknown # calls before (diff #), I checked on this one and, lo & behold, it's yet another scam. I was a tad nervous when I saw people say it was Wells Fargo since I have accounts and a CC with them, but then I realized they have never called me directly. One positive is it reminded me to pay my bill!
