I'm terrible about paying my CC bill on time and I get these calls within about a week of the nonpayment.  It's an automated caller Wells Fargo uses to collect on your account.  You can give them you checking account info over the phone and make the payment without ever talking to a person, you say the card # and how much you want to pay.  It charges like $8.00 to do this...which is BS.

Been calling non stop today but won't leave a message.

Calling ten times a day or more.  As soon as the machine picks up, they hang up.  this makes it unlikely that it is an automated system.  The number is a landline in Beaverton, Oregon.  My caller id shows just "Out of Area" and the number.  

Unless we recognize the name or number on the caller ID, we let the machine get it.

Been getting calls all day at work and no messages left.

It is the number for a collection agency that Wells Fargo Finanical uses.

It is Wells Fargo.  Our local branch, police and state patrol all said NO ONE FROM WELLS FARGO WOULD DO SUCH A THING.  Beg to differ.  The number is illegal and further proof of failing stress tests.  The strange thing is Wells Fargo bankers don't know this is taking place, or are liars, the truth most likely in the middle.

Report it to your State Patrol, State Banking Commission.  They call about an account $50 overdraft?  The next Wells Fargo call was to offer life insurance?  That has nothing to do with banking and proof of Fine Print problems.  Moved the account to a different bank.  You would think with a bank receiving so much bad media about it's operations might clean up it's shop.

I'd watch out for these spam callers.  

Never give your personal information out to strangers; they're finding new way's to scam people. Especially, those Nigerian scam artists!

I received two phone calls from them in the past hour. One while I was on the other line with WF...weird. I am closing my WF account bc I don't feel safe. My online account was hacked into 2/14/09 and they have not made me feel safe using their online banking. Glad I checked this number out

Unbelievable that these scam artists are still in business after over 2 years.  The FTC can't even stop them apparently.  I reported it to wells fargo who simply didn't care.  File an FTC complaint people!  Go to ftc.gov - it takes 2 minutes.  Unless you report it they will keep stealing peoples' information.

Received calls requesting that I input my card number.

I have received a call from these guys everyday since Mon 9/28/09, today 9/30 I got two back to back.  Has to be a scam, although I have never answered it they have never left a message.  Never give out your personal info to people who call you, they are SCAMMERS!

They have called me 11 times in the past 7 minutes. I am sick and tired of a spanish automated machine calling me every waking second of the day. Oragan is now my most hated state in the U.S.

I havent answered their call because i work whenever they call my number. I have an account at WF like most of the world. however, i do not use that account and no weird things have happened to it. I think they know many people use WF and see if they can get anyone to give them information.

The same number kept calling me several times a day and then hung up everytime I picked.

I have the same story as Gigi.  I got two calls from it but no messages.  It punched it in Google and here I am.  Any idea on how to make them stop calling?

I think this is just a sign of bad customer service.  Like many people here I am a WF customer and was late on a payment.  After five years of being an WF customer I've never been late on a payment until this month, which is exactly when these calls began.  It could be a coincidence, but I don't think so.

I've received three calls within 24 hours.  They didn't leave a message (very unprofessional) and the line was dead when I called back (even more unprofessional).

Moral of the story: Wells Fargo sucks.

I as well work in this dept and can assure you this is legit. Often times cell phone companies recycle phone numbers... so we may be calling you for the person who used to have your number.

FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act) look it up. Any company calling to collect a dept as defined by this law can call between the hours of 8 am and 9 pm seven days a week unless otherwise specified by your state law.

We have 3 call centers, 2 in IA and 1 in Oregon. We do not leave message because we want to reach a live person and get the issue taken care of asap as to avoid any negative marks to anyones credit.

It is legit call, if you dont wanna pick up phone call, just log into wells fargo's website and pay your past due credit card payment. Thats what happened in my case

Why would WF need to ask for your account number if they already have your phone number? This probably is scam, and a bad one, once they have your account, be on the lookout for problems!
