Missed a call, googled it, here I am. Live in central Washington using AT&T, find it odd that it's random considering I've never had a wrong number in 6 years... Since reading these posts it seems that this place is going from carrier to carrier, but how, be nice to know.

he called my cell i called back.  he answered with the same pitch.  he said he wanted to create a recommended movie list for kids and wanted me to review 2 movies.  i work in education, so i ask him how he gets ppl who are qualified?  how he knows im not some loser that hates kids?  he had no answer, said goodbye and hung up.  he is clearly a liar.  what is his angle?

I got this call on my cell phone (which is registered on the National Do Not Call Registry). And when I told him it was my personal cell phone he said it would only take a minute and would pay for any charges. I don't know how he's going to know what charges I might incur. Anyway, he's not to be calling my personal cell phone.

I wish they would call again! I have a large amount of money they can have if they only send me a very small processing fee.

This was my 2nd call from this group - I missed the first one. When I asked how he got my number, he said that he was just calling all the numbers in my area - but I have a Nebraska cell number here in Colorado! I pretended like I was losing reception and hung up on him.

I'm not sure if it matters, but I too have Alltel. The question is, how did he get my cell number?

Got a call on my Altel Cell phone from the same # today with no message. I have never gotten a solicitation call before and I've had my phone for several months. I didn't answer and glad I googled the number for this info!

Agreed. You shouldn't answer the phone if you don't at least partially recognize the number (ie: area codes, etc) and you should definitely NOT give them your address for the DVD's. In response to the person who answered his "how are you" with "good" and he said he'd call back again at another time, that sounds more like he was confirming the number to put it on a list of legit numbers and will be sold off to other telemarketing companies. You can't trust anyone that does this kind of thing. And if their front is a Children's Media sort of business, I think that makes it even worse, ethically.

Caller called my cell phone and I was outside and couldn't see the number in the sun, I answered and this sorry, whimpy voice on the other end starts into his pitch. I get real aggressive and tell him to take my number off his list. He said he would and hangs up, or maybe I hung up anyway that was the end of whimpy. My wife asks me where 505 was I looked it up and found out it was in New Mexico and then Googled 505-247-1942 and found out what everybody has been experiencing. So I guess I run in to check the number now, yah like thats going to happen.

I received a call from this number today.  Since they didn't leave a message, I suspected it was not from a wished for buyer, but I was curious and looked up the number.  This page was helpful.

I received a call on my cell phone from this number on 8/28/08 at 7:17 p.m. I answered it and a male voice began to talk to me about an organization called Kids First. He told me he would send me two DVDs and would call me two weeks after I received them. I agreed and my parents tell me they have received them and I have not received a call from the number again.
I am a college student and I asked him if he would rather send them to my home address or school address and he said either. I then asked him how he had my number and he said they were using random number combination's. I asked a few more questions and he said he was new and put a female supervisor on the line.
I have a 614 area code which is central Ohio.

I have recieved an viewed the movies that were sent and my grandchildren seem to enjoy them.  The 4 year old and 3 year old loved the ones about the bunnies.  The older children 7 years, and 8 years, enjoyed the mystery one.  The content was very good, and the main part was the vaulues taught in the films.

I got a call on my cell phone and called this number back and they said it was John, from Kids First and was offering me 2 free moveies. I said that I was on the DO NOT CALL LIST and they said they were calling a bunch of numbers in my sequence and it was ok since they were not selling anything. I advised to take me off the list.

I also have alltel. This person said it was a non-profit organization for kids first. I didn't have to buy anything and they would give me movies. Not being happy to receive this call, ( I am also on the do not call list ) I asked him how he got my number - he gave no real answer,  and that he's not wasting my time and minutes and hung up on him. No more calls from them.

You can contact all their sponsors at their website at kidsfirst.org and let them know about the way they call folks. But more importantly you should file a complaint with the Attorney General's Office in New Mexico where they are headquartered and with your own State Attorney General's Office. Washington State is already looking into this. Some key points here is that they don't identify who they are with, they call from all parts of the nation with different area codes. They must be using telemarketers and some states have a problem with automatic dialers and telemarketers. John the guy who calls is a pre-recorded message. The VP of Kidsfirst says that someone listens in the conversation and pushes buttons for responses to your questions. Very odd and it may really be voice activated for all we know. They pretend to be getting reviews but actually they are a marketing arm for movie distributors with the intent to sell you the movie you review much like a try it out before you buy. With their non profit status they are avoiding having to go by federal regulations of the Do Not Call registry. Are they paying their fair share of taxes if in fact they are really telemarketers under the non-profit vail?
