- EileenCalled today and did not answer or leave a message. This is anoying.
- Karma| 1 replySo, here's the deal. I've been got a letter in the mail and called to find out what they wanted and it was MSB. They are a legit debt collector normally for DPS (Texas Department for Public Safety) and now APD (Austin Police Department), so it seems. I hate MSB and their filthy organization.
Anyway, I'm a pretty legit dude now, in college for software engineering, and was furious that my payment plan with APD ended up in MSB's hands. Hell no! I called Austin municipal court and started giving them an ear full when the rep told me that it was a mistake and had been correct. "Ahh... Thank you. That's exactly what I wanted to hear. Thank you. Have a good day," I told the rep.
MSB continued to call me over the next few days, and I told them that it was a mistake. I should know by now (31 years old and plenty of experience) that this world is irritating. Finally, they called again today to collect.
"How do you want to resolve this matter?" MSB Rep
"We're not. You have no business in these cases anymore. It was a mistake that you had it and you don't have the power to collect anymore" Myself (but there was more to it)
"How do you want to resolve this matter?" MSB Rep
"Verbally." Myself
"How are you going to resolve the debt verbally if the amount of $xxx.xx is due?" MSB Rep
"I don't care. We're going to do what it takes to fix this. I don't want you calling me anymore!" Myself
He muttered something and I said, "I don't care. If you don't stop calling me then I'm handle this situation another way."
"Okay. We we stop calling you then." MSB Rep
Background information: I used to be a telemarketer and one of the things they tell you is "put me on the do-not-call list" is a serious thing. However, I think that list was used again to call back those people by specialists.
In any case, there are two possible outcomes: either they call again or they don't.
If they call again then I'll perform recorded calls on both MSB and Austin Municipal Court. At the moment, I have no beef with Austin Municipal Court (even though -most- of them are losers too), and I use losers because I don't want to go into a full blown debate. I look to record me telling MSB that I don't want them calling anymore, MSB saying they won't call me, and Austin Municipal Court saying that it was a mistake. In any of the cases, the matter will be resolved and MSB will stop calling. If they keep calling them I'm going to have some fun with this thing.
I'm probably think of something better and with my education I know how to plan, document, and research, so if it's a fight they want then I'm eager to get another PERFECT!
Cheers! - DM replies to Triston| 4 repliesThey are a legit company you should do more research as far as their information they get it directly from the court or county that you owe it to. If you need to dispute anything ask them for the instructions. I was called and told I had a warrant of course like most people on her I chose not to listen and fight with the wrong people. Tickets often become warrants or get hundreds of more dollars added when ignored. For some reason we are under the impression they forget about them just because we choose to. Anyway I did not accept their plan or pay in full and sure enough I was stopped and arrested for a previous traffic violation. Hope this helps a few of you!!

- Can't stand these guysCalled these guys back. Answered by a guy who was very indignant when I started to ask questions. He finally asked me if I still lived at XXXXX 150 East street. I asked what town, what state. He told me Palmetto, Florida. I asked what the purpose of the phone call was, and got irrate and said he didn't have to take my "hostile attitude." I then got hostile, and demanded to know what this was about. He said he was collecting on an overdue ticket from Crawford County. I then told him he was full of it, as there is no Crawford County in Florida, and Palmetto is in Manatee County and that I was pretty sure he was just a scam artist. He got really po'd and started to berate me and said I was being an idiot, as he was just trying to "help me." Since I used to live in Palmetto, I told him again he was full of it, as there is no 150th Street or Avenue in Palmetto. Very small town. What I think is someone who used my name was given a ticket or summons, and gave a false address. Gila is probably calling every name in the phone book that matches the offender. What a shameful way of doing business.

- Can't stand these guysAmazing, they called back and asked for me again like I had never spoke to them. This guy was nicer, but was like pulling hen's teeth to get him to say this was about a court case in Crawford.... this time it was Crawford County, Arkansas (which he pronounced AR-KANSAS). Told him I had never lived in Arkansas, and he again asked me if my name was XXX XXXXXX, and if I had lived at XXXXXX 150th East Street in AR-KANSAS. Told him that it was real simple, if I had never lived in Arkansas, then by extrapolation he should know that I had never lived in Crawford, Arkansas, or ANY address in that state, or AR-KANSAS. (he did not get the joke, and continued with, "is your date of birth 14 April, 1955." I said no, and he said he would remove my name from the system. The only reason I answered this time was because I did some research online and found out GILA is a real company doing debt collection for municiple governments. Again, they are just calling names in the phone data bank that match those of people they are trying to collect. It is harrassment, but it is apparently legal.

- Having Fun with 5125328633| 2 repliesI Googled this # over a month ago when the calls started and learned they are a no good debt collection outfit. The calls continued so I devised a plan of attack. Each time I get a call from "GILA CORP," I say "Hello" then let them say, "Steve?" I then say, "He's around here somewhere. I need to run to the bathroom. Just a minute." I then play a recording of some very loud grunting, farting and the sound of things plopping into water and then I yell into the phone "HONEY! I NEED A ROLL OF TOILET PAPER! WILL YOU PLEASE BRING ME A ROLL?!?!" Then I turn the recording of going potty back on and let it play until they hang up.

- Tina Sae replies to succesful manThanks for the info. I live in Toledo, Ohio and this number calls with the same crap. I now forward my number to a fax. I've talked to a man once and he was a real weirdo! These people are referring to themselves as a “municipal” debt collectors. I’ve redialed the number more than once and I have listened to some wonderful music while on hold for nearly 30 minutes! Each time you call, there is a different greeting. Just ignore them. Eventually they will stop. Beware! There are other fictitious debt collectors out there. One called just today asking for two different individuals at different times of the day. I asked the idiot to repeat the phone number back to me. He couldn’t. He repeated a totally different number; but yet, he claimed he had written it down. I gave him the names of the individuals asked for and he’s re-stating a different name. I asked to speak to his supervisor and he said if you get her voice mail, you can leave your information. I replied No, if I get her voice mail, you will be receiving a call from my attorney for harassment. He grew quite silent after that.
