when you answer and play their game nothing happens and you can't call them back.

The are calling my in-laws asking about me.

I get phone calls from this whatever company about lowering my credit card rates. I pushed "1" to tell them I don't have any credit cards and they hang-up without a reply. How rude!

You can not be nice. Buy a compressed air horn and punch 1 as requested for a person. When a live person ask to help just blast their ear so it will not be usable for quite a while. This may be a start to stopping these calls.

They will not stop calling. Buy a air compressed air horn at a sporting goods store and when called punch 1 on your phone to speak to a live person. When the live person is on the line give the horn a blast and it will disable an ear for quite a while. Only way to slow down calling.

They called me this morning - I just hung up on them. I don't even have a credit card...

More likely it's because it's a call center phone that's not set up to receive incoming calls.

Because the people calling you are probably scammers who couldn't care less about the no-call list. I'm constantly amazed at people who think that signing up for the no-call list means the end of all unwanted calls, forever. I wish it did, but it doesn't -- especially when those operating outside (or barely inside) the law choose to ignore it.

Absolutely right! Only thing I would add is: please study the no-call legislation carefully so you don't waste their time by reporting calls that aren't covered (surveys, non-profits, charities, etc.).

They're probably calling a database of randomly generated numbers, e.g. 555-0000, 555-0001, 555-0002, etc. Sadly, being unlisted won't protect you from much of anyone in the cold-calling business. The no-call list will protect you from legitimate telemarketers (yes, there are a few) who don't want to waste their time calling people who don't want to be called (and who don't want to be fined). . Unfortunately, there are a lot of other outfits operating either outside or barely inside the law who couldn't care less about the no-call list...and that's not including surveys, charities, etc., who are not required to observe it.

They called and left no message on my answering machine. That sends up a red flag! I read previous cooments and they said when they called back and couldn't get anything or the number was dis-connected. Another red flag. I don't call these numbers back because I know they're either scams or telemarketers trying to get information, so they are possibly fraud also. I have call block, but Bellsouth only blocks local calls and doesn't block out of ststae or 800 calls. That useless isn't it? if they keep calling go to the "do not call" site at .GOV. After enough complaints these idiots get fined.

me too people!  Are there no legal re-courses one can take in order to at least report these numbers?  Surely the attorney general can trace the physical address of this phone number and start prosecuting these predator's.  The phone number is the same one the rest of you are receiving and since this is June 18, 2011 it means they are still trolling for victims!

I just now received this number on my caller ID..I dont answer if I do not know who it is...TOO many numbers floating around..Thank You all 4 your helpful replys.

Get calls all time from this number and another caller saying this is Rachel from card services.  There is no way to stop it as it is calls coming from Jamaica; India and the Phillpines.  As of now they have no way to trace them , but our attorney general in Mo. says they are working on finding a way.

Got a call today,6/18/2011,  from these people.  We don't have any debts.  This must be some kind of scam to get personal infomation.

Caller ID showed Dexter IA. Now that I've read the earlier comments no way will I pick the phone up for these scammers!

They are still at it.  Said she was from MC / VISA and offered to lower our credit card rate, but wanted our card number.  Said she was calling from Orlando, FL, but ID said Dexter, IA.  A hoax for sure.

I received a call this morning from this number as well.  I don't play well with fake #'s and wasting my time, trying to steal my credit card information.

Turns out, through contacting Iowa telecom - that a company in cary north carolina owns this block of numbers, leased from them, and the Corporate contact for this company, Bandwidth.com who owns 515-789-7889 would  be a Scott, i didn't catch his last name though.

Unfortunately, I was only able to leave a message with him, but upon calling the main customer service #, I was told I would have to contact law enforcement and start a subpoena and have the information requisitioned through them legally.  They refused to give me a contact # for this company, or ANY information about them.

I told them it was a marketing company, contacting me under the guise of offering me services, and I'm sure they'd want a customer to contact them in return.. They're still sticking to their story of needing a subpoena.

Being treated like that, is a joke at best, especially when one of their customers is outright committing fraud over their lines.  SO.

In the interest of legal rights and satisfaction, Contact scott at this # and tell him you're unhappy with their level of service and the way they allow customers to do business:  919 439 7365

Also, they own that block of #'s, so 919 439 7300 to 7399 is probably theirs, and all internal #'s with people answering phones or voicemail.. No recorded messages..

If anyone is feeling diligent enough, start calling, til you get someone who is being understanding and sincere.. I've already spent an hour on this, and I'm pretty busy.. So here's hoping this is good enough for someone to get results ;) Good luck everyone, and damn the scammers.

What good is the DO NOT CALL LIST if they keep calling!!!! Come on FCC, do your job and make these people leave us alone and stop calling!!!

They said the are CREDIT CARD SERVICES wanting to lower my interest rate and wanted me to give them my "Credit Card Number".... FUNNY.... I don't have a credit card!
