- Tom replies to SYLRWhat state are you in? In my state you can file a complaint online right through the Attorney Generals website, check out your state, I imagine they have it on there somewhere. Here is the deal with the DO NOT CALL registry, I read this a few years ago about a man in Colorado who had made over $2700 that yr. by turning these type of people in. When George Bush Sr. was in office is when they made the do not call list a law, and he signed a deal before he left office that gives you the money, not the state for the harrasing calls from these people, most of the time the state fines them and they get the money, it was a lengthy article about how all this happened, but the amount is around $400.00 fine for them bothering you, some companies pay a lot more to keep their name off of being sued and lost, so they settle for quite a bit more. That is how the man had made so much that yr., some of them gave him like $900 to drop the suit against them, either way if you file the complaint online in the state you live, they aren't going to send a person to your county to go to court, you win and they will have to PAY YOU, NOT THE STATE! Sorry for the long post, but they will help you, but you have to do the paperwork, but it can be done right online, in Missouri you can anyway, I'm filing on these clowns, they have bothered me 4 times in the last month, I give anyone a couple chances, they don't listen and I can use the cash and maybe that is what it takes to get their attention.
- Racerdog| 1 replyOk people. Here's the scoop on 515-789-7889. The number is bogus. In my opinion the call is not necessarily limited to the items mentioned in this forum. Rather the call is initiated for various purposes.
I can only speculate here but from what I've observed this number originates in the eastern US, either Chicago or Eastern seaboard. (MIT?, CIA?, Homeland Security? Mob?). It appears to be associated with data mining and/or IP trace Routing. You should pay attention to whether you were on the internet at the time the phone rings. I've found a relationship between certain websites visited, at certain times of the day, and when this call comes in. Under the scenerios I've created the calls seem to be more focused on internet activity. I'm talking about, Banking, Gaming, and Porn websites. It appears that whom ever is behind the phone calls is more interested in where your computer is connected by way of the internet than in making a verbal voice contact. At least that's what I've found so far. Keep in mind that every phone number is its own IP address, just as computers and routers. You can prove what I've mentioned above and additionaly experiment by isolating specific routers to your computer when you conduct certain activities. It takes time and some practice but it works.
My recommendation is that you isolate a computer for each task thereby protecting your valuable information from unwanted intrusions.

- ComputeressI too am on the no call list. If you have call blocking, just block the number.
- Kay EchterlingThese people call me constantly. Each time they call I ask them to take my number off of their list. The first time they are polite. The second time they called today I followed the routine and got THE SAME GUY I had gotten the first time. When I told him they needed to remove my number from the list he said, "Cry about it." and hung up on me. His name was John.
Someone needs to take these guys out of business!
When I tried to call the number back it says your call cannot be completed as dialed.- Caller: Card services
- Daisygetting tired of this number calling and more tired with them getting away with it
- KBoydSomeone from this number called to offer rate reductions on my current cards. When I asked which cards, he said we are authorized to reduce rates on ALL cards. I pointed out that my number is listed on the Do Not Call List, and he said they are exempt. I said then put my number on your internal do not call list. He answered that he would call back tomorrow and hung up.

These are scams and the best thing to do is complain to your congressman again and again and again and keep complaing, the feds have control over the fcc, remember the sqeeky wheel gets the grease so sqeek and then sqeek again.
Write these numbers down and then send the list to the law makers even if its the same # just mark it down with date and time.- Caller: credit card

- HuntsvilleDexter IA was on today's caller ID. Auto message about lowering interest rates. SCAM 1-515-789-7889. Selected #1 to speak to a rep, a guy came on and talked fast and I just told him FU. Just that simple, then I hung up. Will repeat when they call back. I'm tying up their telephone line and I'm wasting the time it takes for the rep to speak to me. These scammers are all the same you cannot speak to them about removing your name from their calling list, they will either overtalk you or hang up. Bring it on.

- lh replies to enough alreadyI don't know if this will help or not but today I registered a complaint with the National Do Not Call List people. These calls are intrusvie and I believe they are trying to get credit info from unsuspecting people. They say they can reduce credit card interest but you have to give them the type of card you have and the credit card number. I think this is a SCAM! Not to mention annoying.
- lh replies to whowouldguessI did just that today, june 25, 2011. Wish everyone would file a complaint maybe something would be done about those horrible people!
