I agree with you people above.  My question is this: how many of you received a call for this med alert thing shortly after visiting your doctor's office, and does your doctor use Athenahealth for your patient portal?  Not that I'm a conspiracy theory guy or anything, but it seems like I just started getting a lot of these in recent days...

I got the same call, and didn't answer.  I have not been to the doctor in about 5 years, but I still get the Medical Alert calls several times a week, so they got my number someplace else..

The crooks and scram artists use a computer to change their location and the phone numbers.  Most of these calls are repeated to the same phone numbers day after day.  It does not matter if you answer the phone or not they are going to keep calling.  Most of the calls actually originate in a foreign country.  America needs a law to prevent our citizens information from being sold.  Everyone is doing it without regard to where the information ends up.  Names, addresses, phone numbers, ages are sold by hospitals, doctors offices, businesses (anyone you do business with) and by government offices.  DON'T GIVE YOUR PHONE NUMBER TO ANYONE.  Don't allow it to become public information.  Treat it as you do your social security number.

if you call back using on a non toll free number then you can block your number.  however, toll free numbers do not, in any case, allow for call blockage since they are paying for the call.  so if you want to make their bills go up keep calling their toll free numbers.

they use auto dialers.  no one has to sell them your number.  they just start dialing numbers in sequence. they pick an area code and just dial numbers.

Get yourself a Panasonic 365  call block phone ----- holds up to 250 blocked calls without the first ring, once you put the number in.

We got a call from this number today at 3:46 pm and didn't answer. The caller ID was NEW YORK. The number is obviously spoofed because when I called back I heard a recording welcoming me to Verizon wireless and stating that the number has been changed, disconnected, or is no longer in service. They keep changing their numbers. This one will be added to our call blocker.

Thanks for the info on this number.  I check incoming calls, but often no one knows which scam has called.  Knowing this is one of the med alert jerks is very helpful, as I have a spread sheet w/ number, "name", type of call time, date and snippets from comments from this site.  Yet another number to ignore.  Much thanks!

Just got a recorded message about free groceries from Hauck Vincent P.  Don't know him so didn't answer.  If I receive more than one call, I file a complaint at FCC.gov/complaints.  The FCC is getting a lot of complaints from me this month.  If we all did this, we might be able to get rid of these calls or, at least, limit them.  Please help.

Left a recorded message about medical device ready to ship, chance for $1,000 free groceries, etc.. The usual scammers who keep changing their spoofed numbers, but I reported them to Nomorobo anyway.

    Call goes as follows:

“Hi receiving a package today. You're now eligible to receive one thousand dollars in grocery savings coupons that can be use for products you already buy and use -- the products that you buy every week and that savings goes right into your pocket. Press one to speak to a representative press nine to opt-out."

Why would I need a medic alert system?  It has to be a prank, right?  Maybe the caller wants a hospital stay.

Wireless Caller left no message. I did not answer.  I had googled this number twice before, but I always go back to 800 notes where you get the greatest details of who these dirtbags are!
