Phone call received. No message.  Call back… no such number but to redial if incorrect number used?

Having changed corporate banking information for my business yesterday, this number called to verify new banking information. While talking, I checked this website and ended the call thinking it was a scam. I called AmEx back myself and sure enough, they were calling for verification. In this case, the call was legitimate.

This is legit AMEX.  I had an issue the other day and they were calling to make sure that I was satisfied with their resolution of the problem.

I work for a large company at their HQ. I just got a call from them asking to speak with accounting because they "owe us money." Didn't transfer them, but they called my line directly. Definitely appears to be a scam....

Caller said he was calling in regards to an issue with my Amex account and asked last 4 of my social.  I told him I would call Amex myself.  Called Amex and confirmed no issues with my account and that 602-766-6484 did not appear to be one of their numbers.

Legit. Actually Amex calling back. This is their call center in India. Called me back to resolve an open issue.

Absolutely this is a scam. They constantly call my work asking to speak with the banking person. Anyone that says this is real and not a scam is lying. I told them the last couple of times that if they continue to call I will call the police and they can be fined.

I just got a call from this number but did not answer on time.
I have been on the phone this morning with four AMEX people (all with Indian accents) to unblock an erroneous fraud blockage.

While this would suggest this is indeed AMEX, one should still be cautious - when I call back I am told this this not a working number; there is always a possibility that the AMEX call center person is feeding our phone numbers to a scammer friend.

Called AMEX afterwards and they were not able to verify the phone number, nor the call back number.
They said it's a scam, and I should not provide more information about it.

Caller used 602-766-6484 cell number to place message on my voice mail that they were AMEX and left a reference number to call 866-882-4951. Caller was India woman very heavy accent. The number did not register as known AMEX in my phone log. Used Phone Detective to check numbers and found to be registered to other people probably fake names. BEST ADVICE -- DO NOT ANSWER AND DO NOT GIVE ANY INFORMATION.  AmericanExpress will contact retailer that accepts cards via registered email to their account if need be.

missed a call from 602 766 6484. called twice in a couple of minutes and they did not leave a message. i contacted american express and they said it was NOT there number.  caller id said american express in arizona. scam attempt ? just do not give out info over the phone.

This is a legit phone call. It is from AMX dispute line. I made a charge dispute online last night and received a call from this number today. I didn't answer the phone just like most of you did. They left a VM (Indian accent) with the call back number (different from 602-766-6484).

Don't give out info to anyone calling you. It's nuts.

Legitimately from AMEX.  Calling to get info on a charge I was disputing.

Woman with an Indian accent asking about my recent Amex card issues. She wanted me to verify my Amex account password over the phone. Not in this lifetime. No credit card company will call you to ask for your password. Plus they should not be able to know what your password is since it should be hashed/salted/encrypted in the company's servers. All they would be able to do is reset a password. Customers beware of this fraud caller.

this number keep calling us and he says his name is ASHRAF from AMEX, and asking all our details for no reason, when we call TD they says its scam not to reply or answer
