you can always tell - they lie on the phone and they lie on these boards too.  

All to justify their illegal actions while at the same time ignoring the REAL COMPLAINTS of ILLEGAL ACTIONS to collect debts from people who do not owe them any money in the first place...

IF it was a legit bill, they would not break the law!

Dave Smith is my hero and so is Meade and Associates if people would be responsible and take care their bills. The they would not have the pleasure of having someone like Dave Smith help them to get on the right path.

Yea I am sure That a company would waste all their time calling you to say you owe something knowing that they could potientally be caught why risk it. You obviously did not like that fact that you owed someone a debt I bet that you did not pay and if you look at you credit that it is on their now tell me how it could be reported if it was not a true debt?

I agree.  If people would pay there bills or set up payment plan we (business owners) wouldn't have to hire Mead and Associates... If people don't realize this isn't a free service to business owners, and also is  very time consuming.  When all we ask is pay your bill you recieved the service.  And I realize the economic times we are all in.  Maybe Dave Smith isn't so nice to everyone when I am sure he hears more than one sad story at a time...who is to say who is telling the truth and who is just lying. I looked to this site and others to make sure this company was on the up and up and from the comments I would say this is who I want working for my business.  Someone that will do what it takes to get the money that is owed to the business.

This place has started to text my sons new cell #.We have tried numerous times to explain the situation and explain we are not the person they wanted but get called liars everytime.By far the most unethical place I ever encountered. Filed criminal charges on this place today.Enough Is Enough.

I have had several very harassing calls from these people.  They are rude and downright mean.  Called me names!  I tried reporting to BBB, but they didn't proceed with the complaint!

This guy that i am dealing with is the worst person i have ever encountered....I called him jake, man was that a mistake....he said "listen my name is not jake it's JK."....Pathetic....I know i owe the bill, but is it illegal to call, and ask for your ceo's name and number, and not back down until he gets it?  I know for a fact, that you cannot call the chief executive operations, and tell them about bills that are owed by an employee, that is against the law.  That's invading my privacy...I understand they can call and verify employment, but can't go no further, w/o court proceedings etc.  RUDE MAN>...I will be reporting him..

This is meade and associates, and when I gave a call back the man said hello and I asked what company this was and he said the the f are you. Now I know yo can not run a business like that. I kept trying to get answers and he said he was not playing games. So I stated neither am I so don't call my number again.

Exactly, we called back this number, and asked what company this was. He started telling my husband the is not playing f***ing games. We just wondered who the hell it was.

Same here. No over due bills. Just claim to have a bill for FEMALE/MALE <my last name> for <different amount each time> and then demand credit card payment over phone. It totally screams SCAM. Especially when you look up Meade and Associates and the numbers on their site are as follows:

BUT I've gotten calls from these numbers:

Hmm... the 635 doesn't match the main line's 436 nor the fax number's 841. Typically, all extensions and fax lines will have the same main line prefix or in the case of large corporate environments, they will go in sequence like 436, 437, etc.

I'm feel in my gut this is a SCAM and someone is claiming to be from Meade and Associates. If they call you, call the main number listed on Meade and Associates web site to verify and proceed with caution.

Not really they could be using a number with a voip service.

A third party collection agency... as Meade & Associates would be, are bound by the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA).  A federal statute that regulates their behavior in collecting a debt.  Many of the violations of those laws (Like calling you at work, shame, shame) are also a violation of Ohio's Consumer Sales Practice's Act (CSPA).  Which the Ohio Attorney General has investigation and enforcement power over companys who violate the CSPA.  The Ohio Attorney General takes written complaints on their web site (they also have a number you can call to receive help filing a claim). At no cost to you the AG's office will look into your allegations (through a mediation process).  Those complaints are kept on file in their office.  They can take legal action against a supplier/company at their discretion.  But remember if you owe a debt, you still owe a debt.   Especially school loans, which are NOT dischargable in bankruptcy.  The same Attorney General's office has a Revenue Recovery Section that collects defaulted student loans, and I am sure that Meade & Associates is the collection agency you want collecting that debt and not the AG's office!  But bad collection practices are illegal and should not be tolerated.

To Meade & Ass. The bill you keep aggrevating me about is actually my son's & he put me down as responsible party so call him !!! 419 989 9310 !!!

Again, calls are recorded, they didnt call you names and they didnt harass you.  Pay your bills and then they wont have to call you.  They have and A+ rating with the BBB.  It's amazing the lies people say because they dont pay their bills and get mad that a collection agency calls them!  Grow up!

got a call from this number too. If this is a collection agency, they probably have the wrong number since i do not owe debt to anyone or any company. They keep calling and calling. It is very annoying. They don't ever leave a message or whatever.

just got a call from this number but i missed it. i called back and "lary" answered the phone. i asked him what business he was calling me from  and he kept asking me my name.  i said i want to know who he worked for. and he hung up on me.  very shading.  if you do have a collection agency harassing you, i suggest that you call the business/company/hospital that you owe money to directly and pay them so that companies like this dont recieve a dime!!!

I received a call from my sister that this company needed paid or she may go to jail because of writing 1 bad check 9 years ago. I was going to take care of it for her but wasnt about to give my info. to just anyone over the phone so I asked if I could ask some questions about the company and what he does for them and also if they had a website.  The guy...i think his name was J.K. or Jake....said he could not answer my questions in a rather rude manner and then I told him i wasnt giving my c.card info to him and he hung up on me.  Later that night, I looked up their website and the link to the BBB and also typed in "Meade and Associates fraud" and got like 5 pertinent results....this is one of them.  I looked up the "office manager's name and called him...for the time being his was Toni Martini and he said he couldnt help me unless i had an account number.  I told him all i had was her name and he looked it right up and started mentioning things about it. First of all, why would he take my word for it and look it up without her permission. While he was researching it i said i didnt want to get one individual in trouble but rather help correct their very obvious customer relations issue and he (the so-called manager) argued rudely with me about the intentions of my call.  So i said, ok fine then, what if i did call to get some specific in trouble. Whats wrong with that when I legitimately recieved poor service.  to which he responds, if there's nothing else i'm going to move on.  He did not even listen to my entire complaint! what a manager!
    I believe that even if this company is real...which it may be, they have serious customer service quality problems.  I also think its funny that certain people have commented numerous times on their behalf...one said, if u dont have problems with your debt then why are you on here...I will tell you why, because you acted so rude to us that we couldnt believe you could possibly be a legit company. and we wanted to make a complaint and warn others....I think the more interesting question is, why do you keep getting on here to comment about how good they are?  If u recieved excellent service would that be a reason to look up a blog about bad service and argue with us?  not likely.  i have contacted the BBB as well as another federal operation to protect consumers...and u cant say im on her because i have debt an am not paying it...it was my sisters and i know she makes bad financial decisions and I do not condone it...but was merely concerned for the well being of my neice and nephew if she really did go to jail.  do your research before doing anything further.  And by the way, i gave the money to my sister and she went in to the court and paid it to the clerk of courts.  she got a receipt  and doesnt have to worry about this 3rd party nonsense.  dont be fooled, u dont have to pay them, u owe the money to the court.  The can see that it goes to the right place.  
One more thing, as far as their mission statement says that they provide profeesional expertise and also keep the name of their client safe.  the guiy told me it was kroger where my sister had written the bad check...thats funny. Why would u disclose your clients very personal information!????

I just had the "privilege" of dealing with these people.  I understand that they represent themselves as a collection agency.  When I returned a call to them, it too was answered "Hello".  I explained that in todays society with scams happening all the time, I was reluctant to give any information over the phone as I did not want to become the victim of a scam.  I asked them to send a "test" fax on letterhead so that I could be assured of who I was speaking to ESPECIALLY after answering the phone with a simple Hello and was told they couldn't do that.  To the post made by ME - you obviously must work for these people.  I can't even bring myself to call it a company.  I don't mind making good on debt owed - what I mind is collection agency that run themselves in this manner.  Don't ask for my credit card information over the phone and not be willing to provide proof that you are a legitimate company!!!!!!!
