Funny how someone has to pat their self on the back that works for the collection agency to harass other people . There is a lot of people who actually have a hard time . We live paycheck to paycheck . In my situation I am not paying a bill when my leg is totally messed up and have not been able to go back to work . I hope Karma bites MR. Dave on the [***] !

Just because someone on the phone calling you says you owe a debt does not mean you actually owe it.

If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

    1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
    2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
    3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  dime until the debt is validated

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply ignore them and block their calls.

If they are bothering you, report them:

http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection (Threatening civil proceedings with no intent to follow through, or threatening criminal process in order to collect a civil debt is a  violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.)  The same goes for endless telephone harassment

Note that the US Supreme Court in the Case of HENSON ET AL. v. SANTANDER CONSUMER USA INC., has recently ruled that the provisions of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act do not apply if the creditor owns the debt in question.  As a practical matter this probably won't effect the kinds of scam debt collectors who often show up on 800notes.  The scam collectors don't give you any information about themselves so it is impossible to know whether or not they in fact "own" the debt in question.  Most do not send debt validation letters and many often say they are collecting for someone else.  So, make the complaint anyway if they are bothering you.  Let the FTC sort it out.

Also contact your local attorney general

If they continue to bother you,  and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.
You have to get tuff with these people because,  being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking).   the only thing they understand.

If all bill collectors were doing their job legally there would be no need for The Fair Debt Collection Act! Yes some do call you a list and in today's economy some people are just in a bad position and can not stay current on their debt.
God help you that you never lose a job due to extended illness! Give these people a break.

I just received my 1st call from this # today. It was a man & he did leave a message. In his message,he stated that...”His name was Ed Green & that he was calling to talk to me about something that he currently, had sitting in front of him in his office. Could I please give him a call back.” Then,he left this 614-635-8100 # to reach him & followed up with...Thank You & Have a nice evening. Granted he sounded nice enough in the message he left for me,on my voicemail. But,I’m sure he is going to. Being that it is his 1st attempt to contact me from this #(at least that I know if anyways) & he wants me to call him back. So,guessing he is,obviously going to sound as kind as he can in his message. I’m sure,in hopes that...I will call him back. I’m unsure what this is about though, cause he didn’t tell me anything in regards to what he was calling about. Except for the whole...something,currently sitting in his office. Yeah,well...sure,that about sums it up! Now I know exactly what it is! Really?!? I do NOT have ANY outstanding debts, that I know of right now. So,very puzzled as to what this could be about?! It can’t be that he has the wrong # either, because he asked for me,directly & said my 1st & last name,in the message he left me. After reading all these posts about this company...MOST NEGATIVE!! I’m not sure exactly what I want to do about this. I recieved the call about an hour ago & he has yet to call back yet. Just kinda waiting to see if he does or not. Which,I’m kinda guessing that he most likely WILL call back...according to all of these comments on here!! Has anyone else, been given the same name of...”Ed Smith” from this guy, when called from this #???? He didn’t even state a company name or reason either. Just his “supposed” name! Oh...and,it came up on my caller ID as,NO name,but...Columbus,Oh.
    • Caller: Did NOT give me a company name. Just the name...”Ed Smith.”

Sorry,I was meaning to say the name...”Ed Green!” I seen where someone else had posted the name Smith a few times & accidentally wrote that, instead of GREEN,as his last name given, towards the end of my post. But,it was NOT Smith! It was definitely...”Ed Green”,that he gave as his name in the message he left me.
