Donations  for Illinois Police

27 Apr, 12:55pm, Fake Police Charity. Passed immediately to local police department. They confirm that it is illegal for any police department to engage in telephone solicitations, and they are very unhappy with someone representing themselves as the police. They have turned the info over to a detective who is investigating. There was a phony msg that the line was disconnected. If the criminals actually used their own phone, they will soon have a visit by the real police.

From the IL Police or so they say, probably from that crooked Governor Bruce Ruiner looking to cheat more of Il hard working union people

Today we received a second call from the Illinois State Police followed up by a Breast Cancer call as listed on previous complaints.  When we don't answer and the answering machine comes on they either call out our name trying to make it sound as if they know us or hang up.  These calls are scams.  Please be careful.

Second call. Caller ID said Illinois Police.  Didn't answer, didn't leave a message.

said he was either "Chief" or "Steve" Dorey on the answering machine, but didn't seem to know machine had said "Hello", and not an actual person.

I got a call from 618-855-0185. CID said Illinois Police. A real voice identified himself as Keith Daughtery and said he was a paid caller for the policeman's fund drive. He asked if he could depend on me for a small donation when I received my envelope in the mail. I said, 'I don't think so' and he hung up-nothing more.

I got yet another call from 618-855-0185. Again CID said Illinois Police. I was again greeted by a real voice who claimed to be Keith Daughterty, a paid caller for the fund drive for police officers. They offer death benefits for the families of police officers fallen in the line of duty and safety programs for kids. I allowed him to continue his memorized speech, the same one I have heard before about sending out an envelope for my donation and can we depend on you. I said, 'no, I don't think so'. When he continued to press, I said, 'I have received this call numerous times and I have given the same answer every time. He couldn't get off the phone fast enough but he was not rude. He very quickly said, 'sorry to disturb you. Goodbye'.

Illinois Police ..... Remove me from your phone list!

Got the same call as others about death benefits, et cetera.  Caller ID read "ILLINOIS POLICE."  Guy's name was Daugherty, he said.  Told him to take me off the list.

I got a call from this number. Claimed to Illinois State Police soliciting for money. I am a retired cop. Any police department does not solicit for money for anything over the phone. DO NOT GIVE THEM MONEY OR ANY INFORMATION. I have often wondered why the State Attorney does not go after these people, since they are defrauding (key word "fraud") innocent people of money. It does come down to theft.

3 May, 7:30pm, repeat call, auto blocked, CID only repeats phone number, State police state that this is a charity scam. They do not use phone solicitations.

Got another xall from "Illinois Police". Yeah? No!! This is why we have a land-line -- to catch all the garbage calls.

There was mention of calls as Breast Cancer and Police and call centers. Rule of thumb for charities and their FUNDRAISERS is, if they're calling they're using some sort of deceptive tactIC that doesn't fully disclose who's calling, period!

Received the same call. Caller ID said  Illinois  Police.  Just an FYI  police do not ask for money over the phone.

Don't people know just how easy it is to FAKE a callerID from a VoIP (over the Internet) phone call? ANY number and any ID can be easily hoaxed. For all anyone knows they could be faking the call from the Caribbean or anywhere else on the planet so don't believe it just because your phone says it. I've gotten calls like this from 111-000-0000 and many other nonexistent numbers so it's easier than one might think. Get an air horn and blow their eardrums out of their skull and the room. Just a thought.
