- John Paul replies to BatterySam| 1 reply13 May, 11:10am, Yet another Fake Police Charity call. Passed immediately to local police department. They confirm that it is illegal for any police department to engage in telephone solicitations, and they are very unhappy with someone representing themselves as the police. They have turned the info over to a detective who is investigating. There was a phony msg that the line was disconnected. If the criminals actually used their own phone, they will soon have a visit by the real police.
- Phone NarcCaller ID came up as Illinois Police. Since I don't answer my phone unless its someone I personally know, I let the answering machine pickup on the call. No message left. Yet another number being reported to local, county and state and federal authorities. Love that I have friends and family at all levels.
- Caller: Illinois Police
- Ugh!| 3 replies3:30 P.M. CST on May 14, 2016. My mother answered and had to say "Hello?" twice before the caller finally spoke up. I never learned the name of the person on the other end, but you'd think that by now, what with how long telemarketers like these have been plaguing the common man and woman, she'd know better than to just blindly pick the phone up and actually CHECK THE CALLER ID!
- Caller: "Illinois Police" (Yeah, right!)
- Call type: Telemarketer
- William replies to Ugh!Does your mother have to wear glasses to be able to read the Caller ID? If so, maybe she did not have her glasses nearby. She should let the call go to an answering machine to let it screen calls for her.
Some people will pick up the phone because they are expecting a call anyway. - Get Your Facts Straight replies to J. R.Your "FACT" is wrong. The police can solicit funds from people. The Fraternal Order of Police IS a legitimate company (though the number listed above is not, and whoever is calling from said number is NOT from the TFOP). That said, it is still better to donate DIRECTLY to your local police department if you wish to do any kind of donating. The TFOP gives LESS than TWENTY CENTS per dollar to the police it collects for. So if you want to donate money to the police, call your local precinct and ask them where you should send contributions to. They will tell you the correct place.
- NormaIllinois Police called asking for a donation .& my reply was my deceased husband was a detective and my son is a police office (juvenile detective) and I only make donations to the Backstoppers organization and definitely do not make donations over the phone and he keep talking and I told again I was not interested, the he got rude and hung up. I called State Police in Collinsville, IL and they do don't make such calls. I knew it was a scam and called Stat Police just to verify my thoughts.
- Caller: Illinois Police
- CarolynAnother junk call. Don't know why I get so many of these. No message left. CID said Collinsville, IL

- GeorgeYou can thank our politicians for all the spoofed CIDs. All that is needed is a requirement for ma bell to accept and pass only legit CIDs. CIDs are sent with the first ring. False CIDs can be bloccked at that point by ma bell. The DNC list is useless. Only legit businesses follow the law, Crooks use the DNC list as a starting point for their call lists.

- Дмитрий replies to BatterySam| 1 replyAnonymous calls from 618-855-0185.
Sometimes they displays a location,
"COLLINSVILLE, IL" But in my case,
it has never displayed the name of
any person, nor the name of a company
or organization.
Had this been a decent legitimate company
or organization, operating legally, then
they would not be hiding their names
like these folks do.
We maintain that it is fundamentally
unsafe to speak with individuals
indulging in such suspicious conduct
to hide their intentions. - Drew Brady replies to Ugh!| 1 reply12:34 P.M. CST on May 22, 2016 for me. Same situation as you, Ugh!, and no, my mother wasn't expecting a phone call, nor does she need glasses to read her phone's Caller ID screen. Worse yet, this wasn't the first time these jerks had called us, either.
Time to get a call blocker! - CarolynCalled me again. This time on a Sunday! jerks.
