- also 228-209-8325 hitting cell phonesI got a call and didn't look before I picked up. I usually never pick up unrecognized numbers. When I had dead air I hung up.
- JavierThis is a scam to get your AMEX account number, they also call from 704-458-1206
- Caller: Scammer
- Call type: Valid
- los angelesI too received a call from this number..but the call hang up (and I did hear a man on the other line)....I checked the number online and got to this blog site..... I immediately called American Express and told them about this call and I as assured - this is not a number they have and not to give any information about my account....
So do not listen to people that are writing on this website stating the number is an AM EX number associated to them...- Call type: Debt collector
- MikeyI keep getting calls from this number at home and cell. I never answer, they never leave a message.
- Caller: no
- Call type: Debt collector
- DirkThis is the Amex Collection agency. I have an account with them, and they will call you from this number if your account is overdue.
- RobDawgNot sure if this was AMEX or not, but my bill is supposedly past due when I checked my online account. I will call the number on my card.
- New AmexI'm a new Amex member and got a call from this number.
They were more than happy for me to call back directly using the number on the back of the card. When I called back I reached the ID verification dept. and they were expecting my call.
I'm sure this number generates calls for different services (possibly including collections calls) , and may even be operated by a contracting company, but in my case appeared perfectly legitimate and represented Amex.- Caller: 6234926031

- KRAVMAGA| 1 replyAn auto dial call with no person coming on line. AMEX doesn't do this as I talk to them all the time. I have read enough posts of this number to believe it is a scam. The people who claim it was a legit call were either the scammer's representatives or blissfully trusting in a cruel world.
- Caller: Unknown
- kp replies to RosieI just called and they said it was their number, but they don't know what department it goes to. They think Marketing, but the message stated it was not a marketing call. They call and wake up my kids at 9:40 at night. They call at least once, if not three times per day. We are up to date on our bills. No clue.
- Deb replies to DebWell, it's one year later and the MoFo's are STILL calling me.
- Er82 replies to northern star| 1 replyDo you know how easy it is to search online for your phone number, employment information and salary? Its a scam. American Express does not call you to verify personal information. If any credit card company calls me, I inform them that I will find their number online and call them back in order to verify personal information.
Do not fall for this nonsense!! I had my identity stolen in college by this exact scam. Live and Learn.
I received a call from this number on MY cell phone and they asked for my SISTER, who is 12 years older than me and lives in a different state. Our accounts have never been connected. Its a scam. - I don't have an AMEX cardPopped up as American Exp on called id. I answered it and they asked for Betty. Told them no Betty here. He stammered like he made a mistake and asked for Monica. Told him no Monica here - wrong number. He then asked for my name and I told him no way. I have never even had an American Express card.
- TWGot a call from this # today. Also got several earlier in the day from 901-590-8720. Wondering what i've done online recently where my work phone # would be displayed?
- SDI do not own an amex card and msg said it was regarding an important business matter and to call back by the end of the day.
- Caller: claimed to be American Express
- LauraIts a legit number..but because of me being paranoid, I called the 800 number on the back of my card. They told me that I was late with a payment...oops. I didn't believe the guy first beacuse I couldn't find on my bill where it said that it was late, but up in the top right corner, sure enough..it said that it was late. It has been handled.
Though..if it has said American Express on my caller id I probably wouldn't have waited the 2 days to get on here and check them out.- Caller: AmEX
- AnnoyedI'm really getting sick and tired of these calls. I'm on the DO NOT CALL LIST and I'm still getting these calls. I just wish they would stop bothering me.
- MikeYes, these people have been calling me asking for ssn#, account numbers and my name, they get mad when I tell them that they are a fraud. I have also made an official report about this fraud to the Federal Bureau of Investigations. So if this company thinks the patriot act will protect them, they are wrong.
- anonymousI have AMEX and have an outstanding balance but... I've never given them the number that was called. EVER. Sounds like a coincidental scam. AMEX by the way is a horrible company to deal with. Crap customer service, even crappier policies. Avoid them like the plague.
- irritated receptionistReceived two calls within 10 minutes of each other from this number. Both calls were for someone who hasn't worked here in 5 years or more. The person on the other end was rude when I asked to have the number removed since they are no longer here. I hate American Express anyway, so this is just one more reason to not want them as a credit provider.
