- jimthey tried to convince me the last payment due was not received as of yet which placed us in arrears... after calling American Express directly I learned this is a valid phone number and they had only made a mistake calling me at all.
- Caller: American Express
- Call type: Debt collector
- DoeI received a missed call from this # 623-492-6031. No message was left. I read these posts and went on-line to my AMEX account and there was a "FRAUD ALERT" on my account. I called the number on the back of my AMEX and sure enough, there were 4 fraudulent charges on my account.
- Caller: American Express Fraud Dept.
- JBThis caller left a robo-message for someone who does not live here but apparently used to have the number. I get messages like this every day... if these guys were serious about collecting the debt they would hire a private investigator to get the correct information.

- larrymorning and night calls from this number...DO NOT ANSWER THEREBY LETTING WHOMEVER KNOW THAT THERE IS A LIVE PERSON AT YOUR NUMBER. i called AMEXPRESS at their 800 # and no such calls are authorized so they say. my wife has her own account and her cell rang about 2 mins. after mine...must be an alphabetical calling device..both of our accounts are current so no legit. reason for call and AMEX reps. do not call on phone unless suspicious activity on account...and it would not be from this number. my question is after all the complaints, why does AMEX not take action...i hesitate to use this card anymore until they at least acknowledge that a problem exists. i think that is all we as card holders want to know
- Caller: unknown
- linzThey keep calling me, and I don't even have an Amex account. Jerks!!
- ATLMikey replies to AnnoyedThese are scam artist. I would love to find these people and bash their head in with a baseball bat.
- ATLMikey replies to SarahSarah, obviously you work for this company and are in on the scam. Why do you want to rip people people? Do you get enjoyment out of that?
- brianI get called by this number on an "second home phone number" at least twice a day. I have a AmEx card (that has no issues) but that is associated with my home phone number. AmEx, or any other company, would have no reason to call my "second home phone" (or to even know what it is).
I called the AmEx 888.819.2135 number (which the recording left). That is definitely AmEx -- they had my account details. They had no idea why that number was being called (and they confirmed that there was no issue with my account). They said they would add me to "do not call" list.
I called 623.492.6031. They said that they were AmEx. I gave my first and last name. my state and my street name only. They said that they would add me to "do not call list".
I can't figure out what this is. They did not "scam" (or even attempt to) any info out of me.
It sounds like AmEx is a bit screwed up!!- Caller: AmEx?
- GNLDefinately a SCAM
- NotScamedFor everyone who is posting that this is legit... Why are you looking up these numbers if you know who is on the other end? Why are you posting here if you are not part of the scam? The only reason I am here is because I have received calls and want to know who the hell is bothering me.
If this is American Express, they have a really poor IT department who can't figure out this problem and I sure ashell wouldn't want to do any business with a company that has such poor quality control.
.. - 792 Jim replies to AnnoyedEveryone, here's the deal. I just called Am X. They said it DID show up as one of their departments.
The agent said he would call the number to find out what it was about. I said ok but only if you agree not to share any of my information because of the heated information I had found on this site about this number.
He agreed he would not put me on hold, call the number , find out the department and not share my information. When he called it was a message wanting my card number.
He told me he was also suspcious now because it was a machine not a person.
He said he was going to report it also and put on a note on my account about what had happened.
So everyone, whoever has this number, has found a way to incorporate it into amx directory.
Be careful.
I would agree with other posts. If someone calls you don't give into. Call the number on your card. - SeanI got a call from this number today. I thought it was a scam at the very beginning especially after I read this web page. Then I tried to report it to Amex. I called 1-800-257-0770 the number on the back of my Amex credit card several mins ago. After the representive got my call, he confirmed that it was their identity protection team called me. Then he asked for a 3 way call with another bank which I have account with. I agreed with that and stayed online, 2 mins later another guy from BOA joined us and asked me questions like my account number in BOA,address, Bday and telephone number, nothing was related to ssn and password. After he confirmed all of them, he told the one in Amex, I am identified.
After that, the Amex guy told me there is a charge happened 2 days ago on my card from some company, he asked me to confirm that, I checked my account info at the same time he was talking to me and I found out that charge he was talking about, and I have no idea about that. I told him that was no me.Then he transfered me to another number, another guy told me he will cancel my current card and issue me a new card which will be delivered over night. In the same time he asked my online passcode and mailing address.
I think this is the real Amex, because I call the number on the back of my card to reach them and they know a recent charge of my card. So I told them all the information they want. But they never asked my card number and ssn in the whole conversation.
I strongly encourage guys who have Amex credit card and got a call from them, call the number from their website or on the back of your card to confirm your info was not be stolen and if it was, do something ASAP.
If I can not receive my new card in the coming 2 business days, I will come here and report it again.
Hope my experience will help. - cardetaileri get 6-8 calls/day from this #...they want my credit card # and social # to verify my identity...i refuse and they get pretty aggressive that they will call the authoritites...i tell them to go right ahead, i will wait for them...they hung up...no idea where they are calling from. i do have 2 AMEX cards and when I called AMEX, my account is in good standing. It may be a 3rd party credit protection company, but AMEX didnt know and told me not to accept calls fromt eh telephone numbr and report them, which i did. Hope that helps.
- Caller: Amex (???)
- Do not be stupidI have been getting calls a few times per month. Bottom line, it is a scam. For fun I make up information that sounds legit. Spelling my names wrong, giving fake dates, wrong account information. All they need to do is make enough mistakes in whatever the heck they are doing and it will alert others, eventually.
- Caller: American Express
- MinWell, I called this number back ,again, and bypassed the account number by hitting 00000 and I reached the American Express Account Services in Fort Lauderdale , FL (billing IS located there) and talked with Kiesha. She said that the auto phone dialer uses any open line in their system. She took my number for the 2nd time in two weeks and said that it would take 48 hours to take off system and that somebody either used to have my number (had for years) or somebody gave a wrong number. She reports it in a bad number form. She doesn't have a lookup function for account numbers by phone number, so she can't find out who has given my number for their account. Let's see if I get anymore calls from them :}

- patI get several calls a day from this number. Do not have and never have had an AmEx card. You can program any number to show on a caller ID - my son enters his local phone number when calling from an overseas phone so I will recognize it on the caller ID. Are you sure someone isn't using a valid AmEx number for a caller ID? - it still seems to be a scam!
- stopspamcalls replies to Annoyed| 2 repliesThis is definitely AMEX I got two calls today alone and when I say hello some guy with an elephant washer accent says this American express then the line goes silent and disconnects – guess it’s still hard to get reliable VOIP connections
- Dan-NYC replies to HannahIf you want to send a letter to AmEx on this issue, you'll probably get the best response sending it directly to the top. They will route it to the proper legal department as needed.
