The recording I got said "We are calling about a time sensitive opportunity for your American Express card. This is not a solicitation." and to call back to 623-492-6031 which I didn't trust.  So I called the number on the back of my Amex card.  They said 623-492-6031 is their number, and they are offering money if I pay off my card and cut my credit limit in half.  So it is a solicitation.  It sounds like that same number is used for a lot of purposes and they won't stop calling until you call them back.

It IS really Amex, but it is a marketing call.  I called the number on my card and reported this seemingly shady activity.  The representative looked up the number and said it was an Amex number, and was a valid call.  She then went on to give me Amex "opt out" number of 800-297-8378.  More info here:

I didn't think I had an amex either. But I was curious, so I looked on their website. Somebody had opened a card in my name and I didn't even know it.

For about a week now we have been getting calls from this number; they call and hang up.

I called number on the back of my card and the agent called the 623-492-6031 number instead of looking it up.  She said it was an american express number and they sometimes call about past due balances.  Said nothing was wrong with my account but that my phone number must be on someone's account.  She also reminded me that I was not liable for any fraud on my account.  Just call the number and your card to make sure.

I just rec'd a call - Instead of the caller ID saying it was AMEX it gave the number:  602-537-9012 / the number calling was 623-492-6031.  They said I was past due, and wanted my banking information.  I of course refused.

this is fraud. if these people call me again at 8:30 am I am going to go to arizona and f*ck them up. they wont know what hit them.

These people are horrible.
From my multiple calls with them they say they are American Express Collection Agency. They go far beyond harassment, even when they call and I tell them the person they are calling for isnt here, they call back three and four times extra a day. By the fourth time they call, my blood is boiling and I get angry, at which point they just hang up. Then it happens all over again the next day. Their actions go beyond harassment, I wish there was something that could be done.

OMG! These fools just called me too! 623-492-6031.  Some guy named "John" . . the call was being recorded and they wanted to speak to me about my "account".  I told them I would need to call them back, since they were NOT getting any info from me over the phone.  Voices were delayed a bit too... Got their callback # 888-819-2135 and so I checked it out... It asks for you to enter your acct # right away... i do NOT think so!  I am going to call the # on my card......

I keep getting calls from this number.  I don't answer.

I've gotten these calls also. Im up to date, and even if I WAS late, I would have to be REALLY REALLY late for the matter to be at a COLLECTION AGENCY.  

What worries me though is the fact they have my CELL phone number.  They've called me at home.  I hang up when I hear the delay (sure sign).  About a minute after, they call my cell phone!!

How could they have gotten that??

Just got another call.   A braciole this time.   I asked the dame what she was wearing.  She said, excuse me, I repeated, what ar e you wearing honey, something naughty...revealing....SLUTTY? hUH?  Something you bought to wear while you called people who didn't want to be bothere, all the while playing with yourself?  

Is that what you are doing RIGHT NOW, baby?  Huh, PLAYING WITH YOURSELF?  Naughty, naught, bad, bad little girl!!!

She hung up.  Imagine that?  I guess some people just don't like to be harrassed with phone calls.

Another call.  Cell phone this time.  I asked THIS "lady" if she likes fruit?  "fruit", she asked, Yeah, I says, fruit....Cause a got a couple a chin cherries that I could plop over her nose, make her look like a turkey!!!!!

She hesitated and then I asked her is she wanted to go to KAMANAWANNALAYA Sushi tonight so she could slurp on some BAT WING............

They called my cell, yes it was Amex, there was an issue (a very very small issue - a $ 15 payment past due a few days?!?!?

How do they get your number.......from my experience seems they record every phone number that anyone uses when making a contact regarding a specific account, so even if you do not have an account or an account problem with Amex..........the number you are receiving the calls on was used by someone to access a specific Amex account for any number of reasons.  When there is a problem with that particular account they then start calling every incoming phone number that a customer has used to call them.  Simple
