just an fyi  -   I never answer an in coming call  - I would always call back and from my phone that can tape the call.   In my state only one party to the conversation has to consent to taping the call and since I'm party to the call I give my consent.   If I get any rude or threating behavior I make it known I have a copy the the conversation.

This call comes in to my cell phone at all times of day and night.  I don't know who it is, but I see acording to the blog that it's a collection agency. I never answer and I don't have any old or new overdue accounts that might be in collection. So I guess I'll continue to ignore these calls.

I have sent these people a cease and desist letter and they are still calling.  I don't want to deal with rudeness over the phone--I want everything in writing.  I do owe a debt to another creditor "that they are representing".

How do I complain about the unwanted calls?  Because it is about a legit debt, I cannot report them on the "do not call registry", can I?

Well, the question is did you just put a stamp on it and drop it in the mail or did you send it certified mail with a returned signature card?  What I am saying is that you need proof that it was sent and proof it was received otherwise they will say they never received it.. Any collection notice that I have ever responded to in writing I have always sent certified mail.  It costs between 4 to 5 bucks to send it but this way you have proof and can then proceed to the next step if they refuse to comply. My last paragraph in a dispute notice reads 'Due to the serious nature of this matter, I must insist that any communication you have with me be in writing.  Therefore, if it is the policy of your company to contact me via the telephone regarding this matter, I AM INSTRUCTING YOU DO NOT CALL ME REGARDING THIS MATTER. I will not speak to anyone over the telephone regarding this matter'.   The proper agency to file a complaint about a debt collector is either the State Attorney General in the state where you live or The Federal Trade Commission Bureau of Consumer Protection.  Their web site is www.ftc.gov  Click on 'consumer protection' then under that heading you will see 'file a complaint'.

I got a call from Jack Bauer.  Wow, like from 24?  No, it's an attempt to collect a debt.  Personally, I think they're trying to get information about a company I used to work for, because no one I do personal business with has this phone number.  I don't like this line to get around the law, "if you continue to listen to this message, we will assume you are NAME and this is an attempt to collect a debt..."  They said my name on a voicemail and connected it with collection...isn't that illegal?  Or does their little disclaimer get around it.

I have started to get this number ringing my cell phone.  I put the number in to search and found this site.  This is a new number for me and no one has the number except my husband.  I have done the same thing as "found a way out" did put the number on silent and ignore it.  I now know its a collection agency thanks to this site, so I'm not wasting any of my cell time answering it.

got the call from the number and the latest and greatest tecnique is a friendly voice in an english accent asking if this is "insert name here" and please press one now.  do not pick up, send a cease and desist, and if you are working with a debt reduction company, have them also send out the same letter.  this is a great chat board by the way.

This guy calls here asks for my fiance says its about his relative Cythia G. Fornier????? He has no such relative.  I tell this man this and he says very rudly well he is down here as the last know relative. I told him again he has no such relative and he asked when my fiance will be home I told him this afternoon and he says well does that mean 2, 3, 4 or later very rudly again. I told him after 4 and he hangs up.... what the heck does guy thinking he is doing. I know all my fiance's relatives I've been with him for 22 yrs. I called my fiance and he was also very perplexed at why this individual is calling him so I looked up Cynthia G. Fornier and she has something to do with being a lead in the Airforce? This is a doozy....lol...

Thank God for the internet. I too have been recieving calls from this number. The caller, Carl White asked for someone  with a different first  name  each time he leaves a mesaage.The first time he called, I returned the call and Mr. White said he had no one on his list with the name or number I read him back.OK ???? The second time a message was left I returned the call and asked to be removed from their call list. The calls still continue. Mr. White called again today and I told him there was no one here by the name he was asking for. He then read off three other first names and then says he got the phone listing from the internet so it had to be correct. I agree that if someone is collecting a debt a letter should be sent to valadate that they are authorized to collect.Then I would confirm that information with the original party to whom the debt should be paid. I would never pay someone money based on a phone call . If he had given the correct name of the person or persons living at this number and I know we have no debt owed, then I would be concerned about indentity theft and look into it immedeatly.  i guess based on the other post I can look forward to month of Mr. White calling.*LOL*

The first time I got the phone call was from a guy Les Murphy who told me by looking at my credit report he knew I owned a home and vehicle and that he was going to have them come after my assets. Then a second call (mind that he called me at my work!!!)came and he offered me a deal I told let me talk to to my husband.....next day another call (work)I was in a meeting he told my employee to pull me out of my meeting so he could discuss collecting a debt that I have with them! How dare he tell my employees my personal business! My employee told him I can't do that and he got angry with her and told her she was lying. Couple days passed he called my work again on my day off and told another one of my employees about my debt. The following Monday I answered the phone at work I knew it was his voice and I wanted to see what he would say.....so I lied about it being me....he got so angry and told me that he was tired of playing games and to tell me the message that he was going to come after me and to let me know that that was it! 2 weeks passsed and he hadn't called me then Today Les Murphy called me AGAIN! This time I politely asked him to not call me anymore at my place of work. His response was if you don't want me to call you at your work you need to submit it in writing he was EXTREMELY RUDE!!! I told him I did not appreciate him telling my personal business to my employees and that if he called again I would file harrassment charges on him for repeatedly calling me and for discussing my personal info. He got so angry and told me he was going to kepp calling my work anyways. I asked to speak to his manager mind i THOUGHT HE MIGHT BE OF SOME SENSE! I spoke with the manager Brett W. and he was completely OUTRAGEOUS!!!! I told him what was going on and he told me that I was a LIAR and that I was telling stories and that this was just an excuse not to pay the debt!!! Hecalled me a LIAR several times thoughout the call! I was livid! I toldx him I was filing harrassment charges against his comoany for the response and the treatment I have received from them . He then told me well I am going to just turn your account in that its a refusal to pay and let them take you to court. I told him don't threaten me! I told him your name is Brett, right? and he replied yes and I said the company is Client services correct? and he said I am not going to listewn to this and hung up on me! What can I do this is completely and utterly uncalled for! I am a very good person who only has one credit card in debt and he made me feel like I was crap. The whole LIAR thing was just uncalled for! And he's the manager! Who ever employed this guy is an idiot! But I guess that speaks for why they hire people like Les Murphy as well!!!!! I want to know what I CAN Do I am not okay with just forgetting about his if they are doing this to me how many other people are they treating this way!!!! I want to do something about these people this is just unbelieveable...If anyone knows what I CAN DO PLEASE LET ME KNOW! These guys need to be reported to someone who cares!!!!!!!!!! I have an outstanding debt with Citibank (please do not work with Citibank- they sell off your information to these sharks asap). I acknowledge this and am planning on working with THEM to handle this matter. Therefore, I will write what steps I am taking in this matter then I will come back and tell you if this works.
1. I will answer the phone next time they call, ask them if I can record the conversation (it's illegal to record without consent in my state).
2. Then I will ask them to provide me with the company for which they are collecting my debt, in writing (which they must comply to and they will stop calling for 30 days).
3. Then I will send them a letter asking them not to call me at my personal cell phone number (isn't that illegal anyway?! I get charged by the MINUTE) or any other number they have associated with me. I will send it certified with the received signature confirmation.

4. I will contact the Attorney General, my lawyer, and the BBB to let them know with all the evidence I have put forth. If they even take one action towards me after this, I'll be glad to see them in court.

I'll let you know what happens. Maybe this would work for you too, just ignoring their calls isn't going to make them go away. Everyone that was ever associated with my SSN (Employers, references, Emergency contacts, etc.) were also contacted. This company is vile- check out their website and how venerable they try to seem:

Well I get a call from these folks about 5 or more times a day. Sometimes they leave a message regarding my resume on CareerBuilder. But this is untrue because I do not have one on there. then sometimes I get an voice recording saying that its an attempt to collect a debt. I do not answer and never have. I refuse to answer. Harassing me daily isnt going to get them paid faster!!

They keep calling here too....they better think twice....my lawyer has advised us that if they call after tomorrow when our bankruptcy is filed with the courts, they are in wicked violation of all sorts of laws!

I owe money to citi but having been making payments twice a month to pay off my credit card bill, due to the fact they wouldn't accept the police report and conviction of the [***] that stole and ran up my credit card. but this number still calls me WTF! and never get a credit card with citi they suck balls.

Got contacted by a Heather Webber at 1-800-521-3236 xt 4303 looking for my husband and not saying what this is about.  She has contacted me at work and leaves messages, leaves messages at home, has left messages w/ my mother (who I have told never to talk to them and hang up) and then come to find out this woman called my sister today looking for my husband.  Luckily, my sister played dumb and told them that she had not seen me in years and to never call back.  From what I have seen on other posts regarding Client Services is that they use an internet database called "Lexus-Nexus" which will contact anyone related to you and near you trying to relay a message to you.  Every time I call back I go straight to voicemail and I refuse to leave a message I want to give this live person a piece of my mind.  I find this harassment since they are calling my mother, sister, and me at work and I will be reporting Heather and Client Services with the BBB and the FTC.

Any luck with your actions?  They are calling me as well and am looking to take legal action
