I received a called saying this is in response to my online application. Said there would be a telephone interview lasting 15 to 45 minutes and if I hasd the time.   After 4 or 5 questions she said she had all the information she needed.  Her name was Shirley, company name was Employment Services.  and they do prescreening for 1000's of companies.

My call was similar to the other postings. When I said that I would not be interested in any financial aid, the call ended abruptly. Very intrusive and not very nice, especially when you have been looking for employment, and this turns out to be a fake!

I asked "customer service rep" if the job was local since area code 646 is long distance for me. She said that jobs were within 20 miles of my home but she didn't have specific info for the company. "that info is confidential at this time". Whatever.

She said that too many job applicants type in typos and employers would have a hard time contacting them back. Employers hire her company to verify applicant contact info. I just confirmed the name, address, email and phone number with her. I didn't think it would hurt, but I still think they are rip off artist.

Called, claimed I had applied for a job. They had an old address.  When I made the comment I didn't post that address on any of my resumes, they decided to hang up....hmmm....be careful on this....

I just received a call from this number, BUT.. I didn't put my application on craigslist.com. Where could they have gotten my number?

I missed the call. They left no voicemail and when I called back there was a long loop of voice messages asking me to stay on the line.

"Minnesota" quoted verbatium the message I received when I answered my cell phone.  I too was excited as I have applied for numerous positions on-line (I guess no one does it the old fashioned personal way any longer).  I googled the number as I didn't recognize the area code...boy am I glad I did.

I too, received a call from this number today. Just like everyone else, I don't understand the point in creating fake jobs. I'm not stupid enough to give anyone my soc #, what do you get out of having a fake posting? I graduated from college 6 months ago and still can't get hired anywhere, and all I get responses from are these fake 'marketing' companies. It's ridiculous. Something needs to be done. At least half of the jobs on career builder are fake. It's a shame. People need work so bad, and all these people want to do is get your info and use it to screw you over even more? Terrible, terrible people.

I got a call about 2 hours ago from 1-646-520-0697. About a month ago I got the same. Some computer talking about a job. I have been putting in my resume but if someone wants to talk to me about a job its' not going to be a computer voice. So I hung up.

I got a call from these people in the middle of class but they never left a message... I really hate calls like these and wish that they would stop completely and just leave us alone!

I too was called by this number and so glad I googled it first.  Also, my hubby is looking for the job, not me, so it seemed a little off....thanks for the posts all...good stuff.  Now let's hope they get in trouble for doing this!

got a call this morning from 16465200697. today. was a recording for a job interview, did not call as i found this site searching for number. thanks for letting me know they are con/scam artists .

Total waste of time. I figured it was a scam when I first got the call this morning. When I called back, they wouldn't even tell me the name of the company that was hiring.

I thought this was a scam.

After no message was left, I also Googled the number and got to this information site. Thanks to everyone for contibuting. Now it's my turn. ;)

This situation triggered a memory of something on my job search. I looked at my notes, and I found a page where I spoke with a real person who basically followed the script below too. When she would not give me any information on the listing prior to the "pre-screening", I knew something was up.

Also, she would not tell me where the job was posted. It could have been Craigslist. But it could also have been Career Builders Network.

I told her that I would have to think about it and get back to them. Then I asked her for her name... She was hesitant (another red flag!), but finally gave in. The name was Heather, by the way. Then again, who's to say that's even true.
