I believe there are two options for 660 calls:  1) they want you to call you back and your call costs a lot of money, and they have the cut from telephone company or 2) telemarketers just want to determine that the phone is being answered.  when they verify that, they sell your number to the list brokers.  In either case that people are more eligible for torture than terrorists...

yes, when caller id for Skype users whom have an online phone number is turned OFF and a call is placed, it displays as 0,1,2,3,4,5,6, or phone numbers with areas codes of 661, etc. Sometimes, it will state, UNKNOWN or UNAVAILABLE.
The number that displays on the recipient's caller ID cannot be called back UNLESS it is the actual SKYPE online phone number of the one placing the call to YOU.
Too many people are getting worried and reporting strange phone numbers. While we all need to be careful and cautious because of SCAMS, we should first stop and ask does anyone I know use SKYPE as it may be a call from someone you know.

Definately Skype - which like other phone numbers can be used for prank calls but still generated from SKYPE - the 661 is just the generic number that pops up on caller ID..

It's very sad this day and age. You need to screen all  calls, turn the ringer off at night and the volume down when company is over! Sleep with a cell phone that vibrates (in case of emergancies). LoL I too got a call. I'm trying to find work and so I listed on online job aps (snagajob ect.) You will get a dozen calls from colleges and scams. Before you get your shorts in a bunch, think of the sites you went on or surveys that you filled out. I recommend a whistle for the day calls and at night answer with, 'You have reached the (AG) after hours hotline. Life is short let the small stuff roll of your back.!

I said hello.....they said my name "Robert _______" and that was it.   I do not use skype.  I called the number and got a weird recording.

It's someone calling you from SKYPE. I called myself via skype and this is the number that pops up most of the time.

This is a general # used by SKYPE.

This number called my cell at 11:30 at night. My wife answered and said there was some woman on the other end and she appeared to be whispering; she couldn't tell what the woman said. Nobody should be calling a cell phone at this late hour unless it's an emergency!! I hate these people and whatever it is that they do. And then when I called the number back I got some crap message about only lawful requests for information would be honored. WTH does that even mean...?
