I recieved a call form this number (708-401-0535), by a man identifying himself as Officer John Matthews. He said I owed a payday loan and was very threatening. Unfortunatly, because I had fianacial trouble this past summer nI thought that it was valid and that there was a loan I may not have paid back and I aid them $956. However, after going through my paperwork and doing consulting a pay day loan collection company I now know this is scam. I live in New York, and have found out this scam is also running in Kansas. I have reported them to the FBI, my state Attorney General and Homeland Security.  Through my research I have learned very well what my rights are and if they ever call again I will not fall for it, but it was an exspensive lesson.

i just received a call from officer john jacob matthews and he stated i will be investigated if i do not respond immediately. this has happened to me a few times. the first time i was really scared. i did not know what to do. i was told that noone can threaten you with legal action if you owe them money. i have called them and asked for them to send me a copy of the bill and they could not do that. i have reported them to the fbi and attorney general.

the same thing happened to me today. The guy told me that I needed to get my attorney to call them, or I will be detained in 2-3 hours because I owe a loan from us cash advance, some kind of pay day loan, and I haven't done any of that. I called my attorney and they told me it was a scam.

This number called me and said call back or they will start proceedings. I needed to call back. I had calls months ago, and they didnt call for a  couple of months. And, now they are calling back being a an officer. I hate this sooooooooooooooo much. I am goin to file a cokplaint,I HATE THAT THEY HAVE MY CELL PHONE NUMBER. They are sickening, and they should b arrested. Good Luck, to  whom ever gets a call,they SUCK!!!

Been receiving phone calls from an offier alexander davis threatening to have me arrested if I did not pay my bill.  Would not give me a web link or send me something iin writing.  He was very hard to understand and eventually hung up on me.  I called back because of his threats and spoke to the secretary.  She proceeded to put me on hold numerous times. My son Googled the phone number and found this website.  Thank goodness because I was getting ready to send them 1200.00!!  While they had me on hold, I called the McCracken County Sheriff's Department and told them what was going on.  They sent out an officer who was so wonderful.  When the secretary came back on the line, the office took my phone and one thing lead to another... The secretary said that she was going to cancel the deputies badge and eventually hung up on the officer.  The officer told me that this was indeed a scam!!!!!  A report was filed because if they call me again, I can press harrasement charges against them.  I am changing my phone number and getting Life Lock today!!  Somebody needs to do something to people like this!!!

If you are targeted by these criminals, be sure to report them to all the following federal and state law enforcement agencies (most of which you can do online or over the phone):
1.    The U.S. Secret Service is responsible for protecting the country's financial infrastructure and payment systems from international and domestic threats. Call or write your local Secret Service field office to alert them to the details of this attempted extortion. Scam alert: Bogus debt collectors

This scam isn't technically about credit cards, but it is scary enough to post a warning. The Better Business Bureau issued an alert today saying consumers across the country are getting phone calls from bogus debt collectors claiming default on a payday loan. Of course, the consumer needs to pay a large fee to avoid arrest -- as much as $1,000.
The caller poses as a lawyer, and may threaten extradition to face trial if the consumer doesn't pay up immediately.
What makes these calls alarming -- and perhaps convincing -- is that the perpetrators reference the consumer's personal information, such as the person's Social Security number, driver's license number, previous bank account numbers, home address -- even personal references.
"The amount of information they have is really troubling," says BBB spokeswoman Alison Southwick. She adds that the amount of data points to a possible security breach.
Spread the word to your friends and family: Don't give out personal or financial information to an unknown caller. Scammers can spoof Caller ID to display different numbers, so trust your instincts over technology.
The BBB offers these tips:
•    Ask the debt collector to provide official documentation which substantiates the debt.
•    Do not provide or confirm any bank account, credit card or other personal information over the phone until you have confirmed the legitimacy of the call.
•    File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission online if the caller is abusive, uses threats or otherwise violates federal telemarketing laws or the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
•    File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau online if you believe a debt collector is trying to scam you.

I got a call from 1(911) with the same thing some officer w and indian accent having an affidavit for me and they gave me a case number I wanted more info because I don't recognize cashadvance usa as ever borrowing any money from them and she said shes part of the BCI (bureu of criminal investigations) and to call her back with my attorney at (301)458-7129 and while on the phone I did a reverse look up and it took was some number in maryland (around DC) so I asked her what the address was and she said 221 North Hogan St Suite 335 Winchester Maryland 20721

nov 2010 they allso use this phone no.301.458 7129 and claim they are located at 221 n.hogan st. suite 335 Winchester MD.

I have receiverd numerous calls from this scam.  Its getting to the point where I cant be comfortable in my own home.  I have contacted the Bellwood police and having the Illinois states attorneys office contacted.  These is rude and very ignorant!!  The number and name thats calls me is 708-593-4739 saying they are either Peter Williams or Matthew Oneil.  Is there anything more that I can do to take action against there people.  Thanks
