    ANNOYED
This number calls me on a regular basis... today I answered, "Hello?"  And what sounded like a live person with some background noise answered and said, "If you'd like to come over, you'll have to call first."  FREAKED ME OUT!   Looks like this number has been spamming other people too, which makes me feel better!

Sorry he's not a shill -- if they have an 'existing business relationship' the DNC list doesn't apply. That is one of the reasons the DNC list is useless. ANYONE can claim they had an existing relationship -- the 'credit card' scammers claim they work with the credit card issuers -- ask them WHICH card and they waffle, and eventually hang up on you. The whole system is silly, and I am waiting for someone to invent a 'whitelist only' phone service. Some come close, but they cost an arm and a leg. Google Voice is free and at least allows you to block a number ONCE they leave a message, but unfortunately these scum use a number once or twice and then find a new one to spoof.

For now, I don't answer ANY number I don't recognize -- if it is important they'll leave a message and I can chose who to call back and who to block in the future!

Don't get 'mad' and don't bother with the DNC or FTC lists -- unless you have a lot of free time and want to play with the system. This is rapidly becoming a reason to simply not have a phone! :)

Glad to hear someone is prosecuting the DNC list scoff-laws but the information I see on the FTC site is that the 'big guns' of this criminal industry HAVE been sued, and they are not getting any real relief despite that, They just pick up and form another corporation in Belize or wherever and start over with a 'new name' ....

The PEOPLE  IN CHARGE OF these scam businesses need to be put into a 'hard labor' prison chain gang and maybe this stuff will stop! We're getting too civilized and maybe some good old fashioned PUNISHMENT for those in charge. I don't necessarily blame the drones who make the calls -- it is THEIR BOSSES that need the lesson taught!  :)

A giggling, shrieking woman from "Austin Graven" left a message asking for me by my first name, from the posts above I gather that this is the first of many calls

Responding to the post about how illegal this crap is:

Then I have to ask, why in the heck did I just get a call from this Austin Graves number today, the 15th of February of 2013?

Apparently, for the last 4+ years, the Gov't hasn't been able to deal with this company robo-calling people. And apparently, they will not bother.

Just goes to show that Big Gov't is worthless at spending our tax dollars correctly.

Kept calling.  I finally picked up and instead of a person, it then rang as if I had dialed someone and went to an autovoice that said "This is America's test kitchen.  We're sorry we were unable to reach you, we will try again another time. If you would like to be removed from our call list, press 8 now."  I pressed 8.  We'll see.  Hope by pressing 8, I didn't authorize something.  And why did the auto thing say "Sorry we were unable to reach you" when I picked up the phone?

So the "Prior Business Relationship" would include I bought a tube of toothpaste from Ralph's; Ralph's bank is BofA; BofA is also the bank for the Window Replacement company who wants to sell me something.  Somehow the Window Co. interprets that as a "prior relationship" and gets ahold of my phone number and we're off to the races.  This sort of incestuous relationship should NOT be included in any definition of
"Prior Relationship".  For that matter, neither should the toothpaste manufacturer be able to solicit me to try their Shampoo products, even though the supermarket has info collected on my buying habits which they can provide to competing companies (for the right price) so THEY can bug me.  Fine.  Gimme a coupon occasionally that persuades me to try a different brand of toothpaste, BUT DO NOT CALL ME!!

Since I DO NOT have ANY relationship with Austin Graven, AUSTIN GRAVEN SHOULD NOT BE CALLING ME!!!

PLEEEEZE check back in in 6 months and tell us how many OTHER magazine subscriptions you have been roped into.

And if they offer to put your Social Security Number in a sweepstakes drawing, politely DECLINE!!!

Seriously, couldn't they just send you a little post card?  Solicitation phone calls are SO ANNOYING!  And IMHO, unsolicited contact could be actually dangerous if it is really someone checking to see is anyone home before they come over and break in.  Not to be paranoid, but there have been reports lately of "knock-and-rob" break-ins, where if they knock and no one answers, they break in.  I'm not kidding.  Anyone got a spare Doberman I can borrow? LOL

    Great Post!
I love the idea of the DO-Call List!  But, that would mean the collapse of an entire industry, the costs of which are passed on to the innocent consumers who buy stuff on their own without coercion, they just buy what they need.  (and if all those under-educated phone operators lose their $2.50/hr jobs, they'll be out on the street snatching purses!)

I'm afraid the brain donors who run these outfits will never realize this is a terrible Business Model: Annoy people day after day until they break down and give up their credit card number, then sell the phone number to others so they can follow suit.  And charge extra for people who answer the phone, and double for people who order something.

    It's so RIDICULOUS.

Get yourself a phone that blocks calls.  You get 50  numbers to block.Your phone rings once, then it goes silent.  Blocked.  I bought mine(Panasonic) at Christmas 2012, and it's really reduced my time spent waiting for these morons to leave a msg or not.  They do try alternate numbers, but  they get blocked too.  It also gives me some satisfaction that the robos can be defeated. I've still got another 30 spaces waiting for illegal callers. It's not completely foolproof, but it does reduce soliciting calls by 90%.

I have just rec'd two calls from (719) 219-3885 and claim to be an attorney in Kansas.  I have been traveling out of state so the person who is receiving these calls say that this Aston Graven leaves no message when told that I am not available.  I am glad to see this web-site and wonder what is going on.

Tried to call this telemarketing firm with the number provided but couldn't reach anyone.  Cooks Illustrated magazine was foolish enough to hire these sleaze bags to sell books to its subscribers.  I get calls to my Do Not Call registered number everyday and their agents hang up on me when I ask to be removed from their list.
