I have received (and ignored) multiple calls to my cell phone in the last 24 hours.  Since I didn't recognize the number, I Googled it.  I have seen several references to this number being a telemarketer/phishing scam.

I have had the same as all the others. I can tell you that since I am new to this area and just opened my account, The only company I have used to purchase anything online is Godaddy.com. Since this company that is calling me has my bank information and my bank does not sell my information, I can determine that Godaddy is the only place I have paid for anything with my checking account. Beware.

I had the call today, and called the 877-777-2709 they told me it was supposed to be the customer service line were my number would be taken off the call list....well it was b.s. that department is just a directory department, then they gave me 866-558-4013 that is the actual customer service line were I spoke to a supervisor named Juan Martinez, after some heated discussion with Juan and he actually explain to me the entire details of how my info got there....(by the way a very nice person that takes hes time to help) well my phone is off their call list...

NOW this GODADDY.COM is the only one that had my info in details....so they sold my private info.

They tried and tried...to no avail. I recorded the call (letting them know I was at the beginning of the call). They had my account information and attempted to direct me to the wrong number for customer service. I informed him of the legal issues that he was causing as they have a No Contact order with the state of Arizona. They appologized and said he would make sure I didnt recieve another call.

If they call again, I am going to send a copy of the call to the FTC (and a couple other groups) as verification that I asked to have my number removed. I encourage all others to record any calls they have with this company.

The address they had for me was from a purchase i made at amazon.com because it was the only time i had ever used the address(i was staying at my sisters).  I reviewed their privacy policy, and they don't give out customer names or addresses to other companies.  So, these people obviously hacked the information from their data base.

DO NOT SAY YES.  CALL THEM POOPYHEADS!  866-558-4013

I am curious now. I posted earlier today, and after calling this company and going through there automated call system, I pressed 2 to be removed from the call list. Then tonight I got that fun call again. I was suprisingly calm and explained to them that I knew there address and what there scam was all about. I told them that If I don't get on the DO NOT CALL list, there would be a problem. They said they would make sure I don't recieve any more calls. I would like to know if anybody that posts on here in the future can let all of us know if Amazon or GODADDY were purchases they also used.

Follow this link to file a complaint with the BBB in Florida. Information on Page 8 will provide you with the name and address you need for the claim. This crap really sucks. Who would want a job like this?

I know this company very well b/c I use to work for them. Lasted about a year before I found out about their shameful business tactics. Many have got their money back but others were just taken.

If you are tired of the calls, send them a “certified” Cease and Desist letter (see sample below). Next, contact the Better Business Bureau and file a complaint with them b/c at least it assures you that Suntasia will have to respond. This is another thing they don’t like to do. It forces them to give a response to the BBB and thus give back the money owed if you were ripped off. Also contact your local media (IE new stations) and let them know about these crooks. They were exposed 3 times last year on tv by local news stations around the country.

Finally, whether you do or don’t get a response from Suntasia contact your local tv news station anyway. Most news channels in your area have a consumer complaint tip hotline. Go on the net and log on to their site. I know this would be a “juicy” story for them especially during the months of November, February and May b/c of the ratings period. They need unique stories to get their audiences attention.

I also suggest you file a complaint with your state attorney generals office and in Florida as well letting them know the situation. There was an active investigation which began in June of last year which I believe is still on going.

Below is a sample of the Cease and Desist letter you can use to make them stop calling you.

    Your Name
    Address
    Date

    Donald Booth
    Suntasia Marketing (Changed to Strategia)
    8751 Ulmerton Road,
    Largo, FL 33771

    Dear Mr. Booth:

I request that you CEASE and DESIST in your efforts to market your products to my phone (insert number(s) here). I am NOT interested in anything your company has to offer.

Also if you don’t comply with my request I will seek legal action against your company as well as contacting the local media and the Better Business Bureau. It is my personal policy not to deal with marketing companies that solicit over the phone without my consent.

You are hereby instructed to cease and desist any marketing efforts immediately by deleting my name, address and phone number(s) from your dialing system or face legal sanctions under applicable Federal and State law.

GIVE THIS LETTER THE IMMEDIATE ATTENTION IT DESERVES (scumbag is optional here)

    Cordially

    Your name here

    End of letter

    Note:

Make sure you sign the letter otherwise it is not legal. Also, make sure you certify the letter when you send it. This way you have proof they received it. One last thing, remember to list ALL the phone numbers in your home including cellphones so they don’t have a chance to slip through the cracks and call you.

I bought Hip Hop Abs exercise package off TV, and that was by far the shadiest transaction I've been involved with in a long time. If not them, the only other suspect would have to be ebay. LAME!

They won't answer the phone until you return the call. All you have to do is demand to be put on the DO NOT CALL list. Let them know that you know about the scam, and make sure they tell you they moved you to the list. If you get the auto prompt when you return the call, call from a different number so they answer. You will have to give the phone # they called you on so they can have your information up to move over to the do not call list.

Thanks for this web site. I got a call this AM, and it was the 727-252-0516. I didn't recognize the number, but I answered anyway. It was the gimic of a free 4 day/3night vacation and$100 coupons. I let the person run the spiel because some telemarketing companies will give their phone reps credit for the call if they can keep the customer on the line long enough to say their whole speech even if there isn't a sale (found this out from someone who worked briefly for a telemarketer). I was being nice. But I got very perturbed when, after the reps whole speech, my three "No's, I'm not interested," following her speech, the rep got pushy and overbearing. They are suppose to graciously say "Thank you" and hang up if a customer says "No" to a request three times. She didn't. I had to finally hang up on her. I then googled this number because I was a little edgy about the fact she new my first name when she called. I don't know if she had any account info on me, but I will be calling my bank to give them a heads up about any suspicious activity on my account.

And FYI to those who have subscribed to the DO NOT CALL LIST. You must renew yourself on that list every few years (I don't remember the frequency). My husband and I had a period when the telemarketers were starting to call again, and when we went to verify our name on the list, we found out our time on there had expired. If you ask, they will tell you how long your name on the list is valid, then you have to renew it.

I was on vacation, taking a nap- or at least trying too! I answered my cell to an unknown number- I was half asleep and some guy rambled on for a few seconds telling me I had won a free vacation four nights for four pple to anywhere. all i had to do was pay 1.49 for shipping the package out, said a couple of numbers (supposedly the last four digits of my checking acct.) not sure what he was talking about, since I don't use my checking acct # on any thing I pay for over the internet.) so that woke me up right then and there.  so I asked the guy what if I didn't want to purchase anything right away, and he said oh "you'd only lose 1.49 and you could give/sell the vacation to someone else" !! my word!!  so I told the guy that I'd have to wait on making a decision, and after the guy wasting five minutes of my airtime... gah. i hung up. I haven't answered any of the other calls this number has bothered with me- at least twice a day at random times.

    Regarding the possible Amazon connection:

I rarely give out my cell number to any company ... I can't recall all of the specifics, but Amazon is one of less than ten companies that have my number.

I made a rare purchase at Amazon Sunday night. Thursday and Friday I received (unanswered) calls from 727-252-0516. I'm simply curious whether the "leak" may have come from the particular used-book seller from whom I made my purchase, through Amazon, on Sunday night.

Because I don't wish possibly to malign an innocent person, I'll simply state that the used-book seller's username begins with a "g" and ends with an "a".

shaka quandalo (who posted above), or anyone else for that matter, I'd be interested in hearing whether you've recently dealt with this seller through Amazon.

    Thanks in advance.

repeated calls to my cell phone, aggressive reps who *demand* my bank account number.  I informed them that it's illegal to spam call cell phones in the US and that if I heard from them again, I would be turning them into the Washington State Attorney General's office who aggressively pursues and prosecutes these kinds of issues.

On doing research on who gave my info out, I emailed Godaddy.com and they swear it was not them. My only other dealings with my account was through flatiron financial. My calls have stopped but I am now receiving other calls. This really sucks. But I enjoy letting them ramble before I tell them where to go.

I received a call from Travel Life Direct and was pitched the same deal. When I told the caller to give me his call back number because I wanted to look into the company and that there was no way I would authorize them to charge anything against my account, he told me that I could look into the company but that there was no way that they would every call me again and that I would miss out on the free gifts.  I told him I'd take my chances - [***]!
