DO NOT ANSWER QUESTIONS from people you do not know. Harris is trying to trick people into providing personal information. They are trained to be slick in order to bate people for information. Never give anyone your personal information, even if they just want to know who you are. Try to get evidence including the name and employee ID number of who is calling, especially if you're being harassed. If fictitious information is given use it as evidence of bad intent. Even caller ID or call history should be enough evidence upon which to file a complaint with the attorney general. You may try to file a complaint for harassment with the police department where the business is located.  By all means, file a complaint with New York's attorney general's office either by certified mail or perhaps even better see if you can fill out a complaint online by going to New York and/or Virginia attorney general website.  Once I filled out a complaint online with California's attorney general's office and they intervened and helped me. I was very impressed. Harris Connect has offices in New York and Virginia.

Here is the New York State Attorney General web link for an online complaint:

If you're not sure what form, call the Attorney General's office and ask for help.

Annoying call - no speaking - probably a robo-call - then hangs after transfers to v-mail ... which reports the caller's telephone number.. ... From researching the phone number on-line I believe the call is from a company that claims to collect data for an Alumni Directory - Harris Connect .. which I have reported below as "Caller Company"

My phone number is a Business Line.... 727 443-7777

IF the name of this business is "Harris Connect" and it is located in Virginia, the BBB has an A+ rating for them!

got a call this morning on my cell and after I confirmed the info they already had the woman who called tried to get me to order the alumni cd or book by giving her my credit card information. I told her that I do not give out my credit card info to callers I don't know and she hung up. Obviously a scam so be aware.

I do not answer calls I do not know.  They did not leave a message.  I am on the "do not call list".  Didn't stop them apparently.

My alma mater has send several post cards and emails to me saying this company would call.  It is the company that used to create the old alumni directory books for your university.  Every few years they gathered info on you and published it...then you had the option of buying the book.  Good if you wanted to keep in touch with old friends and good if you are in sales or similar and want to harass your fellow alumni.

My question is....my college offers a full online alumni directory that I can search.   Why would I want to get involved with Harris?   I don't need my personal and contact info shared.  I understand why they are calling ..I just dont how they are relevant in today's world with alumni info already available through the university....

For some reason there is a few seconds before they connect....so there is a silence. Where did this company get all of my personal information from? The lady even knew my address. The lady said, "Oh you lived in that city? There are a lot of alumni there!!".  No kidding lady. That's where the campus is.

I hung up after I googled this number

hey , really hoping if anyone knows chris Mckee . we are constantly getting phone calls from this company looking for this person . we have called our telephone company to see if he even ever had the number and no he hasn't . so i honestly think that it is a lie and that they are trying to get info from us . if anyone  could give us info on this company and how to get them to stop . i would really aprieciate . i have said please don't call and then read out our number and then told them that chris Mckee does not live here over and over again and they still keep calling . so now we are really getting angry and thinking about harassment charges .  if anyone could give us some info as to how t deal with this company we would really love . thanks again .

They (Harris Connect) sent me this "alumni yearbook" no bigger than a brochure and would not let me return it and now I have $115 in collections and this has subsequently raised my insurance premiums by $160 a year...I still have the piece of .... book they forced on me and my credit is ruined until 2014.  I cannot believe they think people would really be happy with their product and would actually be happy with paying that much for a miniature "address book" that doesn't even contain any useful, let alone interesting information.  If I could show you what I'd like to do with their dollar store product, I would at least find something useful to do with my $115 doorstop.  Thanks for everything, Harris Disconnect...you blow.

P.S.  Maybe they could glue a tongue depresser to the book and it would become a pretty good fly swatter...then you could sell it online to another poor soul.

Exactly...let them pay and pay and pay for all that they've done to bring old classmates together.
They (Harris Disssconnect) are theiving bottom feeders and they should be made to pay back all that they owe to the people they stole from....before they are forced into paying a collection agency.......before they get their credit smeared....before they end up in the slammer...before someone takes them out.

Rec'd this call several times and have chosen to ignore them.  We know that the call is in regarding checking information in the UWO Alumni year book.  Several years back we answered and told them there was no change in the info it was correct.  So a couple of months later what did we receive in the mail "a UWO Alumni Yearbook".  We didn't order it and we returned it via mail back to the sender in Virginia and for several months they repeatedly sent us a bill and everytime I returned the bill with the same answer that it had been returned to the mailing address.  We have ONE year book and that's all we need no matter if it's a couple of years old.

I worked for this company for a very BRIEF period of time and I did not believe in their practices. I was calling peoples job REPEATEDLY and trying to sell them a book  there motto is the customer had to say no 3times and when I did not push the sale I was reprimanded.  If someone says NO one time it is sufficient anyway this was the worse job I ever had.

I just started battling them today, littel did I know, they reported me to the collection agency, who then reported me to the credit bureau.I had no idea who they were until I looked deeply into my credit report. I have never agreed to pay for a book for $117! She then said that she would open up a dispute and review a recording. I am requesting in writing a copy of ANY recording they claim to have with me authorizing to receive such book
