I was getting calls from this number, sometimes twice a day. When I would answer the phone would hang up. When I tried calling it back the operator would say it was an inactive number or something like that. I came to this website and called the collection number listed above and apparently it was a glitch on their end and they said they removed my number. So I'm interested to see if the calls will cease now.

I have been getting calls, on my cell and land line at the same time, for several months and I am sick and tired of trying to get someone to take my telephone numbers off their call list.  I have never called and talked to the same person.  Each time I call, I talk to a different person.  They have even given me their, quote - personal telephone number to return a call to them, but when I call that personal number, I don't get to talk to that person.  This is getting on my nerves and the calls take time off my cell phone, which is costing me money.  Can any one out there help me?   Please call me at 361-387-5190 and not my cell phone.  I would appreciate any help that may come my we, as I and fed up with this company, CMI.  By the way, I do not owe anyone any money and have never been a customer of CMI.

I am now looking for a federal agency that can help me get my telephone number taken off their call list.  I got another call, this morning 11/02/2011 at 8:38 AM.
Anyone know how to stop these telephone calls?  Please contact me at:    bill@rockfoodtable.com

So I have recieved my share of calls from this number, one of the times it actually was a debt of mine, thank you TWC for not contacting me first,I paid it and that was the end of it. Now the calls are back can not get the information about what they are trying to collect so I did some research that I found helpful. Just follow this link to the FTC.Gov website and do a little constructive reading, you may find that you have a way to fight back, especially if you do not owe anything, if you owe just pay the bill and go on with your life

I keep getting 5-10 calls from this number each week. They just don't stop. It is "Credit Management" according to the recording. I don't need any management. It is harrassment. Period.

I too am getting calls on my cell phone from 800-377-7789 and 800-542-5788. I googled the numbers and wound up here. I do not answer any 800 number calls to my cell phone and I don't give my cell number to companies that I might do business with.  Since I don't answer the calls, there is no charge against my minutes. If the calls were to my land line, I would just block the number.  My cell doesn't have this feature. Like most of you, I have had my cell number for close to ten years and I do not owe anyone anything.  Furthermore, I don't know anyone that might be indebted to CMI.

There are a few things that no one has mentioned here.  (1)  These calls are in violation of The Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.  (2) There is a little known Federal law called The Telephone Consumer Practices Act.  That laws says that CMI cannot call your cell phone, eventhough you may actually owe them money.  The penalty can run as much as $1,500 per call.

For those of us who do not owe them any money, I think there may also be violations under the Federal Do not Call List.  The penalty there is $16,000 per call.

I am not an attorney; but I seem to remember, from some business law courses I took in a previous life, that a principle (Creditor) is liable for the actions of its agent.  As I said,I am not an attorney but I believe that, in many instances here, Time Warner could be held liable for the criminal actions of CMI.  I woinder if your creditors are aware of their potential liability.

One of the websites I googled was the Better Business Bureau in Carrolton, TX.  Would you believe that CMI has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.  I wonder how many complaints it would take to change that.

There are a number of attorneys, who have advertisements on this and other similar cites,  who probably would be more than willing to take your case.  Find one that will take your case on a contingency basis and sue both CMI and your creditor.

I might also suggest that you contact the Texas State Attorney General's Office.  The email address is public.information@oag.tx.us.

Thanks so much for posting these numbers. I called the 7789 number back and was eventually given, via recorded message, another number to call to actually speak to someone. I called that number and it was directory assistance (411). I found this post and called the main number you gave. I was able to speak to someone and ask that my son's number be removed from their list. As soon as I explained that he's only 12 and we don't know the person they're looking for he reperated "he's underage?" I verified that and the CSR was extremely nice about removing his number. I was told it may take 24 to 48 hours but that he shouldn't receive any more calls from them. Hopefully that's the case. Thanks again for helping me navigate through getting these annoyance calls to stop.

side note I used to work in collections Client Services inc for citbank pre-legal and Encore for Bank of America and by law they can't keep calling if you say stop calling they are supposed to make note and remove the num and if they don't you can sue legally, keep records, also you can send it in writing to stop calling that way it's documented. by law they can call yoru relatives but only once, unless you have given them permission, and only to get a good telephone number for the person who owes the debt/ also they can't give any info out about the amount of debt or who it's owed too unless it's verified who they are talkin to that's a breach of privacy and they can be sued for that too...just fyi

I think they are phishing for CC numbers. At best, they are the slimiest type of collection agency you'd want calling if you did owe debt. But I've seen this type of scam many times before. I've received calles from them all hours of the day or night. When I answer they just sit there and don't say anything. I called back and they state that they didn't call me... That they don't have my number on file??? Hello... I'm just hitting redial... SCAM!
