- AnonThis number (800-391-9462) started phoning my Rogers cell phone about a week ago. There is nobody on the line when I pick it up but the call continues as if there is somebody there. When I say hello, nobody ever answers back. If I let the calls go to my voicemail, they either leave a 1 second hangup or hang up before it records them. I am quite sure that this is an automated system dialing numbers which I believe is illegal to have fully machine automated dialing.
I finally gave in today and called back the phone number as others have suggested after the one-a-day calls increased to 3-4 times a day. I couldn't stand it any more. When I phoned the number there is a fully automated system that answers and asks if you want English or French. I pressed English and it gave me what is a short ad for their company. It then recited the phone number I was phoning from to be removed from their database, I assume it got my number from caller ID. It then asks if this is the correct number and I pressed 1 for yes. It then told me that my number will be removed from their databases in the next 24 hours.
This fully automated system is obviously a way to pester you into phoning a company and forcing you to listen to their advertising and then manually having to opt out of being harassed by phone calls day and night. I'm quite sure the whole process is illegal and needs to be reported to the proper authorities.
The only people this companies product would appeal to is other companies who wish to harass the public as they have done.- Caller: Gemma Communications

- gkFor the next few weeks I have been receiving calls for 800 -391-9462.
Very ignoring. If you answer there is no one there. I would like to know how not to get this calls. - unknowncalls me three times a day!!! says nothing when i ans REALLY annoying.
- annoyedcalls me 4 times a day, at all hours. Really annoying. Will try calling them to be removed from list. hope it works.
- TammiGot a call from this number 5 times yesterday! Finally answered on the last one because I was ready to rip someone's face off. I was offered first the PC Mastercard, said no thanks, offered the balance protection, said no thanks, offered a low interest rate, said no thanks, and finally offered roadside assistance, said no thanks. My hubby kept telling me just to hang up but it was kind of fun making this dipsh*t go through his whole speech. He finally accepted my "no thanks" so I hope they stop calling now!

- mooogies from OttawaOk here's some information for all of you out there that are getting these annoying phone calls soliciting God know's what. I also have a PC Financial account, have just recently applied for their Mastercard and bingo all of a sudden I am getting several phone calls a day asking to speak to me from 1-800-391-8462. My senior parents live with me but they refuse to give a number that they can be reached at or leave a name but said they were representing PC Financial. I called PC Financial and asked why I was being contacted by them and they said they had no records in their logs (YEAH RIGHT) of any phonecalls from PC Financial. So I asked my mother next time they call to give them my cell number but the person calling wouldn't take my cell number. Gladly I found this site. Did *69 first and got the basic info for Gemma Comm.
I drive often to Montreal and one particular Sunday morning I was listening to my favourite talk radio at 940 a.m. out of Montreal and got a segment from Sidebar with Dino Mazzone. "Sidebar is your source for practical legal information and commentary on court-related news from the week past. Host Dino Mazzone, a practicing lawyer, has great advice and excellent guests". Mostly he was getting calls from people that were stuck in multi year cell phone contracts, people trying to switch cable or satellite services and getting absolutely no help from Customer Service people on the phone or via email. His advice over and over was this. If you want to make a formal complaint put it in writing to whoever is the highest position of the company you have the complaint against, send it registered mail. That way you have a paper trail. He advised against emails or even phone calls and getting people's names. Like Mary, or John. Because guaranteed the next time you will not get Mary and/or John. He advised that once you write a written letter to the head of the company someone has to respond to it. I have just recently had problems with my lawyer who was working on my divorce and when I finally sat down, wrote to the senior partner of the law firm....VOILA all of a sudden I got a response back, one of my post dated cheques returned and within 1 week (after 17 months of fees adding up from absolutely senseless letters, my divorce certificate was granted)! Wish I'd heard that radio show 17 months and $4700 earlier! But the morale of this story people is put it in writing. Get a live person, insist on finding out who the Director of Customer Service is and bang off a registered letter. I am about to do this to PC Financial as well as Gemma Communication because as far as I am considered just because I chose to open a bank account with PC Financial does NOT mean they have the right to invade my privacy.
Here's the link for 940 Montreal http://www.940montreal.com. Sidebar with Dino Mazzone Sunday 10:00 AM to 12:00 AM. It was the best 2 hours I've spent listening to talk radio.
Unfortunately these days we have to protect ourselves and almost become our own lawyers otherwise these sharks will eat us alive.
On another note, the same thing happened to my senior father who is 84 years old. He got a call from BMO, asked him a few questions about if he'd like to increase his credit limit and within a week he received a credit card, all approved for $15,000. When they tried to cancel it by phone, they kept getting switched back and forth between BMO and Bank of Montreal either in Toronto or in Montreal. It took my Mom about 2 hours on the phone and unfortunately a visit to BMO in person to speak to the Bank Manager to get this account closed. I made sure when they went I gave them instructions to get it in writing that the account had indeed been closed.
Hope this helps!

- Nadine replies to tomMe too they tried so many times!!!!! It has been a month now!! Sometimes they call me twice a day!!!!!!!!!
- Megan replies to sqd314If you want off their list just call back, the automated message will allow you to remove your number from their list without having to talk to anyone. Very quick!
- jdri was getting calls from this number 2-3 times a day and sometimes really early or really late at night. when i did answer there would be no one there and when i didnt they would never leave messages.once, it was a telelmarketer for a newspaper and i said we were not interested but we still get calls! the company employs various telemarketers across canada so it may not always be the same company. i think that if they're going to phone to solicit something at least have the courtesy to be on the other end when people do answer!
i called the number back and an automated system answered.pressed 1 for english and the next auto menu gave me the option to have my number removed and then it'll repeat your phone number back and you have to confirm that you want it removed.- Caller: gemma communications

you can call them and ask them to stop (be nice- the people on the other end of the line are only doing their jobs) but you can also complain to their director of 'quality'
you can also register for the do not call registry at www.the-cma.org
but i agree, they are very annoying. I am going to write to the privacy commissioner of canada to complain as i did not give them permission to let my personal phone number for marketing purposes. I suggest you do the same.

- 1-800-391-9462Got 2 calls from 1-800-391-9462 over the span of 2 hours approximately. Since it was 1-800 I'm guessing it's telemarketers, although I didn't pick up the phone when they called so no way of knowing...although reading the previous messages above, it sounds like telemarketing.
Will see if they keep calling if I simply ignore their calls. - wraythjust call it back the number being 1-800-391-9462 and wait well there ad goes then press 1 when they ask you if you want to remove your number.
