Called my cellphone. Hung up after 12 seconds.

I had previously requested that number to be removed from their list.

The company that is calling you is an outsourcing call center that is confirming their list is live so they can sell it others who will bombard you more unsolicited marketing...

My solution: Fight span with spam.  Everytime you get one of those annoying and idiotic emails promising you money from a lost family fortune or offering you Viagra at a cut rate, I always give the them Gamma's email box and tell them how interested I am...  Gamma's email is
    toronto@gemmacom.com

Sure, it is petty.... think of it as a bit of rebellion...

Fortunately, this is one that worked in my Bell Call Privacy block list, although this list is getting full with all the robots that are calling me these days. If I can't block them, my next best solution is to pick up the phone for 1/2 second, and then hang up again. Just seems the most expedient way to stop the ringing for that "session," and I don't have let them get through to my voice mail, which I usually have to access to erase the "click" of a hang-up, which is a pain in itself. Death to robot callers!!!

Forgot to add that I called back and was given the voicemail option of removing from the call list. It could be another scam in how to know when you're home from when you call back to remove your number. Technically they COULD be removing you from THAT list, but not others they have access to. :/ Oi!

I have been getting calls from this number for a couple weeks now, but haven't answered any of them.  After they called today, I googled the number and found this site.  I tried calling back, as per the suggestion of others on this site, and was successfully able to remove myself from their calling list, so perhaps it is a location thing for those of you who have not been able to call the number back... are you in Canada?

    Thanks Vik,
I called the Toronto office number, ragged on the girl who answered and demanded to speak to someone in charge. Got voicemail and left a pretty stong message demanding he call me back.
This has been going on for weeks both here at work and a home. I say torch the [***].

I received a call from this number on my call display.  No message left, googled it found this site, and determined it was telemarketer.

I have a VOIP service and one of the features enables me to screen calls and I just blocked it so if they do decide to call back, I never have to hear the phone ring if they call once a day, or 50 times a day.  Who cares about calling to get my number removed.  I have this also setup to send a collection agency that calls me directly to voice mail.  I'd block them outright, but they'd get the hint that I'm blocking them and therefore try to initiate further actions.  For now they are simply content to leave messages :D

People, people... when will you finally learn ? No one removed you from their list ! They just said that, but what really have happened is that you just confirmed your phone number is alive, so they can sell their lists to advertising companies. Where is the proof that they removed your number from their list ? You believe that just because automated voice said so ? Don't be  a child...

It's exactly the same situation with email SPAM. Exactly the same. If you answer them, you just confirmed that your email is alive, so they can start bombing you with tons of SPAM.

Get yourself a call display, and start answering your phone just when you see who's calling you. If some number is not on my friends/family list, I don't give a [***] who and why is calling me... simple as that.
