    The Company is Gemma Communications at:
    375-700 Lawrence Ave. West,
    Toronto, Ontario
    M6A 3B4

    Ph#416-256-1800
    fx#416-256-6499

    I called and talked to reception and she looked up my number and confirmed that it was on thier calling list and I asked what they were calling for and she said it was on behalf of Rogers. I asked what for and she stated that she did not know and that she would put me through to man named Sylvan in the Quality Control Office. She stated that no one else will take the call(manager or owner)and I had to ask her my questions 2-3 times as she seemed to want to rush me off the phone and avoided direct answers when they were put forward to her. This was at 12:00 pm on December, 17 2007.  I left a message for a call back from Sylvan and told him I want some answeres as to why they are calling, why nothing said when I answer, what they are selling, I want to be off thier calling list and assurance that I will not have this continue.  I suggest that all people call and complain and fix this problem as I do not like being pulled away from work to get a call that just hangs up and I also don't like that the company doing it has a receptionist that refuses to put a live person on the line to deal with the situation and has the likly responce of leave a message and they will get back to you. If you read thier policy or mission statement " Relationships with your customers are largely defined by the quality of a customer's experience during each contact." I think they are not doing what they say they would do and would think that if this keeps up they may end up losing Rogers as a client and get themselves in some hot water with regards to thier current business practices.

    These people kept on calling every single damn day and every 3 hours. It was starting to piss me off when they call me at 8:25pm, and they never leave a message and I felt like picking up the phone and telling them off. I mean, what kind of moron are these people, calling when people are sleeping and they never leave messages...did their tongue got caught onto something or what?

    Hi,

    I’m a communications spécialiste.  I think I can help with those unwanted calls. For those who live in Canada, this might be interesting: according to the Canadian Ratio-television and telecommunication Commission (CRTC), you do have the right to ask to telemarketers not to call you again.

    So, you receive one of those calls, answer and tell to the person that is peaking that you would like to sign up to the “do-not-call list”. They suppose to do so in  24 hours.  But they have 31 dais to put their list up to date, so you can still receive some calls.

    Very important: quote the CRTC  regulations. That will show them that you are aware about your rights as a consumer.

    But the thing is that your name would be unable only for 3 years. After that, there might be a strong possibility that they could start calling you again. So, you have go through the whole process again. But a least you had peace for 3 years… and is for free!

    The CRTC gives you the steps of how to do this correctly, because if the telemarketer fail to doing this, you can complain with the CRTC and the company could receive a fine.

    I copied here those steps here (with it’s respective link) so you don’t have to search too much.

    What You Need to Know
    Registration

    How to Sign Up
    To register or de-register on the National DNCL, you will have to call the toll-free number (yet to be determined) from the telephone number that you wish to register or de-register. The same service will be available to fax numbers, which can be registered by sending a fax to the designated toll-free number.
    Registration or de-registration will also be available online. You will only be able to register a maximum of three numbers at a time over the Internet.
    NOTE: You will only be able to register the number to which you subscribe for the National DNCL service. If you are unable to register yourself, you will be able to grant another individual the authority to do so on your behalf.
    Duration
    Your registration will expire three years after the effective registration date. After three years, you will automatically be de-registered from the list.
    The list operator will not be required to contact you to inform you that your registration will expire. It will be your responsibility to re-register your telephone number after the three-year period.
    If your telecommunications number changes during your registration time, you will have to register the new number with the National DNCL.
    NOTE: The CRTC granted will grant a 31-day period to allow telemarketers time to update their telemarketing lists. As a result, you could continue to receive telemarketing calls until this time has passed.
    Cost
    There will be absolutely no cost to register on the the National DNCL list. The operational costs will be covered by subscription fees paid to the list operator by telemarketers.
    What to Expect

    Telemarketers will not be allowed to call you, and as a result, you should receive fewer unsolicited calls. There are will be some exemptions to the National DNCL, which are listed below:
    §    Registered charities (calls made by them or on their behalf);
    §    Political parties;
    §    Calls made for the purpose of public opinion surveys.
    §    Newspapers of general circulation (for subscription solicitation); and
    §    Businesses with whom you have an existing business relationship (e.g.; businesses from which you have purchased goods or services within last 18 months);
    Organizations that are exempt from the National DNCL will continue to keep their own do-not-call lists. For a complete list of exemptions, please refer to Telecom Decision CRTC 2007-48.
    NOTE: If you do not want to receive calls from exempt organizations, you will have to contact them to be registered on their do-not-call lists or ask to be added to their list at the time of their telemarketing call.
    Complaints
    If you have registered for the National DNCL, and you still receive calls from organizations that are not exempt, then you will be able to file a complaint. The list operator will provide a toll-free number to call with complaints. Be sure to have the following information on hand:
    §    Your telephone number;
    §    Name or number of the telemarketer;
    §    Date of the telemarketing call;
    §    Nature of the complaint; and
    §    If it was a fax telecommunication, a copy of the fax is required.
    The complaint will have to be filed within 14 days of receiving the telemarketing call. This will ensure timely investigations.
    You will also be able to file your complaint online.
    Investigation of complaints

    The CRTC will investigate complaints to assess whether a violation of the National DNCL rules has occurred. If the findings show that a violation has occurred, the Commission will decide whether to issue a notice of violation and impose monetary penalties of up to$1,500 for individuals and up to $15,000 for companies.
    Timeline
    The National DNCL is still in development. The framework, rules and regulations are now complete, and the CRTC is in the process of issuing a request for proposals to select a list operator.
    The Commission expects this process to take several months, and will take the necessary time to ensure that implementation of the National DNCL is successful.

    Hope I help someone with this!

    No call from Gemma today, but I also contacted Rogers' Vice President of Customer Care and they have been made aware of the situation.  I also provided them with a link to this page so they can see how wide-spread the problem is.

    The calls should stop now.

    upset in London Ontario
    i got this too, i told the people there after calling 1-866-544-4154 if i recieve 1 more phone call from them i will be making one more phone call, and that will be to rogers sales to cancel my service, after 30 calls in total and being asked to be removed from the list i have just about had enough, so bell is looking mighty good right now for thier satellite tv and services, i think rogers needs to get thier act together because there is other services around that are just as good that do not call you once a day to get more money out of your pocket through telemarketing. if enough follow this example rogers may get thier act together quicker when people start leaving thier services behind because of this stupidity.

    These people have been calling me every hour today and yesterday! I work at night and they've broken my sleep from about 7 am on! Thank God I did a Google Search for their number; lots of good advice here. Next time they call I'll ask to be put on their do not call list. It's bordering on harassment!

    Agent did not know my first name, only first initial. Agent had such a thick accent I could not understand anything beyond the first few words. Asked her to repeat but that was no help, so hung up. Will not bother to answer their next call.
