Receive calls from this number up to 10 times daily.  (One day, up to 20 times).  Due to my service through MetroPCS, I am unable to block calls.  However, can anyone tell me about the "Downloadable program" which denies all numbers outside of your address book???

I have now called the 1-800-654-9230 number .  It asked for my 16 digit account number (I obviously don't have one).  I hit 0.  The machine then asked for the 16 digit number again, or hold the line and a CR will answer your call.  Then I got the "all our representitives are assisting other callers" and that "the call will be monitored or recorded".  In under 30 seconds a polite lady from Bangalore, India answered and asked for my acct #.  I told her I had none, and I had just gotten the phone number from AT&T month ago.  She had me recite my number, then asked if I was Johnathan Smith, I said no and gave her my name.  She had me repeat the last 4 digits from my phone number, and said it would be dropped from the list.  I will let you know how this works.

Sadly, your number from SKYPE was probably purchased from Ma Bell or another defunct phone company.  You are getting the calls because either 1)  This was a former deadbeat's number or 2)  Someone either accidently or on purpose gave a "phoney" (No pun actually intended, but it works though.) phone number.  I will post in one week whether the call I placed to 1-800-654-9230 works.  ALSO- Very important- Dont yell or be abusive to the folks from India.  They are just working joes like us, and they don't call us because it's fun.  I imagine they get a lot of rude people, and if you annoy them they won't help you.  I am NOT for outsourcing the jobs, but like it or not, this is the only way to get rid of the calls.

Folks, It has been just one day and the Chase collectors are no longer calling.  As another person stated, I usually would get a call near 8 30 am and 3-4 times a day.  24 hours and not one.  So remember, be REALLY polite, state you just recently got the number, and they'll likely pull you from the active list.  I honestly hope you have as good of luck as I have.  If this changes, I will write again.

    Blessings & Peace,
    Ben

I have blocked the calls from 1 800 424-5004 but sometimes they use a different number to get through. Calls start around 8AM and do not stop until 9 or 9:30PM. I do not have an account with Chase nor do I owe them money. I called the 800 654-9230 in an attempt to remove my telephone number to no avail. The calls are in reference to a family member. How can I stop this? Trying to convince the family member to pay their bills obviously doesn't work. It is not my financial responsibility nor do I intend to pay.

Just called the 800 654-9230 once again and spoke with a different customer service rep. Totally different call this time. 'Darrin' says he will most certainly remove my number from their calling list. He was very nice and seemed helpful. He said it would be after midnight before it will take effect - we'll see!! I'll keep my fingers crossed.

If I don't pick up no message is left.  If I pick up there is no sound and no talking so I hang up.  I called the number back and was told by someone with an Indian accent that it is Card Services and later they said Chase Bank.  They wanted account info, of course I didn't give them any.  I told them they can't have it because they might be a scam and they said to call the number on the back of a credit card.

    Dude
I've been getting calls from this number about 3 or 4 times a day for the last 5 or so days. Fortunately I can set my phone to silence so I don't even hear it ring, so it isn't really a bother.

I haven't ever actually picked up a call, as this can't possibly be anything legitimate based upon what I've read. Besides, if it's that important, they can leave a message that isn't automated.

    You morons need to fax them a letter and send a certified letter saying this;

    Your name
    Address
    City, state zip

    Debt Collector’s Name
    Address
    City, State Zip

    Re: Account Number

    Dear Debt Collector:
Pursuant to my rights under federal debt collection laws, I am requesting that you cease and desist communication with me, as well as my family and friends, in relation to this and all other alleged debts you claim I owe.
You are hereby notified that if you do not comply with this request, I will immediately file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and the [insert state name] Attorney General’s office. Civil and criminal claims will be pursued.

    Sincerely,

    Your name.

After about two days they will stop calling you, If the do and you send them a letter & fax. You can and should hire a lawyer and sue them.

Yes, send some random scammers a fax with your full name and address. Another brilliant idea brought to you by the internet!

P.S., same story with me. They started calling me about ~7 times a day and haven't stopped. Always between 8am and 9pm.

After numerous calls with no answer and several reports to the FCC . They finally talk to us and were looking for someone that does not live here. Doesn't this invade that persons privacy. I doubt they wanted me to know if they owe someone money. They with a accent from India said they Capital One. If I had there card I would cancel but I don't. Is there anyone else to report to beside the FCC?

Came up as "800 Services* with the number below. Asked for me by name and then advised me I owed money from a Chase credit card. HuH?! I advised them that they had the wrong person, never owned a Chase card. I advised him that they were fishing based on a name alone and that they should not call me back. I even asked him for the last for the last four digits of the person's ssn he was looking for. When he answered me, I advised him that I was not that person and that they should not contact me again. He kept trying to talk so I hung up. THAT WAS YESTERDAY!! Then today I get a call from the same number...WTF???!!! Advised her that I already spoke to someone yesterday but when she said the call was being recorded, I told her that I needed her name because the call was being recorded ON MY END AS WELL and asked her did she want to continue?? SHE SAID NO!!!! But.. Wanted to pass he to her supervisor that could handle EXACTLY THAT???!! WTF AGAIN!!!!! She got nervous, but while she was transfering, I thought, "why should I speak to a "supervisor" when 1) IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ME. 2) WHY COULD SHE JUST NOT TALK TO ME IF SHE WAS RECORDING ON HER END TOO? 3) ANNOYANCE, SCAM, ETC. TO EVERYONE: Panasonic makes GREAT phones that actually allow you to BLOCK BLOCK BLOCK ANY ANY ANY NUMBER. As a matter of fact I am adding this number to my PANASONIC phone today!! Believe me it works. This is not the first type of call I had like this. NEVER HEARD FROM THE SAME PEOPLE AGAIN!!! GO OUT AND BUY A PANASONIC KX-TGA931S OR SIMILAR TYPE TODAY!! The phone itself blocks numbers, not the network.. so just program the number into the phone and YOU ARE FREE!!!

I received a call from this number at work and when I answered I asked them not to call that number.  She said she would remove it from the list.  Then I got a call from them again the very next day.  Not only are they harrassing me at home, but now they are calling me at work.

This number came across my home phone this morning and I looked it up here and instantly put it on my Qwest's "Call Rejection" service.  If you have Qwest you can get this service added by calling them and requesting it.  I had the caller ID, voice messaging, call forwarding, 3 way calling, etc package and it cost me nothing more to add "Call Rejection".  It's super easy to use and you can add up to 25 numbers (which I have full) and they will get some notice trying to call you that this number does not accept calls from your number--or something like that.  My phone has never been so quiet in my life.  It's well worth it.  It's too bad it doesn't work on my cellphone.  Good luck all.
