- Galactic_eyes| 1 replyThis jack [***] called my cell phone this morning at 9:30am. Now, I've only had this number for 5 days. Where do they get phone numbers from? This joker asks for Pattie. I told him,"You sir have the wrong number." He was like,"Oh really." and mumbled something. He then started to tell me that this phone call will be recorded for legal purposes and then put me on hold. I just hung the phone up. The guy talked so fast that I couldn't half way understand him. Thanks to websites such as this to give people the heads up on these jerks.
- Caller: ???Couldn't understand caller.
- Anonymous PersonNCO Financial Rep called our office looking for someone, but actually identified themselves as calling from the local county sheriff's office. In the course of the conversation, and after "googling" the toll free number on my caller ID, I found these websites with complaints about this company. They are completely unethical!

- meI got a call from 800-448-9570 and it came up on caller ID as 'toll free call' The lady on the phone asked for a certain guy who happened to be my relatives exhusband. I said 'you have the wrong number' they asked if this was the 'xxxxx' residence which it was and i said yes. They said the so called exrelative had put us down for contact information. She said 'you know him right' I replied yes but he was my relatives ex and she said oh and hung up.
- portland| 1 replythey're hitting me too on my cell - I won't pick up unknown numbers and they won't leave a message so I guess they're the ones who are out of luck! We'll see how long it takes them to give up. Now I just need to see if there is a way to block unwanted calls from cell.
- TBI received a call from this number this morning on my cell phone, which is under my husband's name. "Dan" said he was looking for information on someone I didn't know, and they were linking us together via a web search. They were using a former name of mine, which I haven't used in seven years. Thanks for providing this informational website. If they call again, I'll send them a cease and desist letter.

- SharonGot a call looking for a person with same last name. Said I was listed as primary contact. Husband has a relative that works at the factory listed. Wanted to leave a name and number but I repeated I did not know anyone by that name. It was obvious he was jusat fishing for information.

- rohmellSimple solution: add the number to your block list and you won't be bothered by them anymore.

- NCO is scumCheck out http://www.fair-debt-collection.com/Disputing ... ute-letter.html and http://www.collectionagency411.com/debtvalidationprocess.htm. After that, hit NCO with a "stop-call" and a "dispute/validation request" letter; send the letters CRRR to the following addresses -->
NCO Financial Systems, Inc.
507 Prudential Road
Horsham, PA 19044-2308
and
NCO Financial Systems, Inc.
150 Crosspoint Pkwy.
CrossPoint Business Park
Getzville, NY 14068-1602
Don't even bother talking to them; they will most likely go away after you do this. It worked for me...- Caller: NCO Financial Systems, Inc.

- Knot PhooledHehehehe....NCO is now resorting to spoofing their caller-ID. I've been getting calls from "myself" as well as someone I know. It's really NCO masking their ID.

- PO'edThese guys left a message claiming to be Citibank and adivsing that they were trying to collect on a debt. They went on some long story about how Citibank has waited long enough and that if I didn't respond that they would be force to "file an action", They said that they would work with me if I was trying to raise the money or if I needed sell something.
The problem is, it wasn't me that they were trying to reach. The first name and middle initial were wrong.
I called back and let them know that they had the wrong person and that they should take me off of the calling list. The person that I was speaking with then proceeded to convince me that I was the person. They gave out age, year of birth, city of residence and mentioned Citibank again. When I said that I might know someone who matched that description, the person on the phone said "well, he gave us your number!".
I laughed and said that I seriously doubted it since I haven't given my landline number to anyone and that I thought that he had googled my last name and gotten this number. He promptly hung up.
My question is: If I happened to know the person that they were trying to reach, and I told this person that this debt collector had given me personal information and informed me that this was a debt collection (even when I told him I wasn't the person they were looking for), what sort of action could they take? I have the message saved and could make a copy of it if necessary.
These guys really come off as slimy and I would love for someone to be able to take some action against them.
Your advice is welcome.- Call type: Debt collector

- BKCalled using name of Whitney from "the Attorney's Network at Capital One Bank" asking for a relative. Said it was urgent, needed the relative's phone number. When pressed for how he got my number, said it was "on a form where the relative listed us." Had no answer when pressed further on why the relative's other information wasn't also on that same form. Left a file number to reference when calling and a call back number of 866-242-5658 which also rang to NCO Financial and directly to Whitney's desk. Definite scam!
