These people have called repeatedly after I've told them to NOT call. They are looking for my ex sister-in-law, who gave my husband and I as a reference. I have told them that I don't know anything about her anymore, I haven't seen her in FIFTEEN YEARS! But they still keep calling.

Just now when the guy called, I told him that if he would hold for a second, I would see if I could find her number in the phone book. When I got back on the line, he said that the call was being recorded. I asked him to hold just a second longer while I turned on my recorder. He almost had a living fit! Just kept repeating over and over that I did NOT have his permission to record him. I told him that if that's the case, then he doesn't have my permission to record me. And he said that he didn't need my permission, he WAS recording. So, I replied that ,"Well, I'm recording too.". This went on and on, until he finally hung up.

Now I hope they'll never bother me again, but I'm not going to bet on it.

NCO, like all collection agenecies are commission-based. The more you pay, and how fast gets the collector more bonus money.

Get documentation of the calls (phone bills) and any other information (letters from them) and contact your State Attorney General.  This office should be able to help stop the phone calls.

This woman called asking for a name resembling that of my 11 year old, with a slight variation on our last name.  When I asked the nature of her business with a child she refused to identify herself or the company.  It was NCO.

    Don't Harass
This is NCO Financial.  I have at last been able to start repaying my debt.  NCO has a nasty habit of making repeated calls.  On Apr. 20th they called my cell phone 16 (SIXTEEN) times in 5 minutes.  I have advised the original creditor that I WILL NOT deal with these bottom feeders.  NCO seems far more interested in harassment than collections.

    WhoCalled
Somebody at NCO called from 800-448-9570 and wanted me to call 888-899-8041.  NCO Financial is a nasty collection firm that violates the law.  Read up on the FDCPA because you can easily get a big payday for the violations they will commit against you.

After the twenty some calls from this _____... I finally caught them on the phone and picked up. The guy at the other end said Christopher Roads (he spelled it for me), at which point I stated that no one by that name lived at this address" and I have no family members with that name. He gave the same spiel as above, about I was listed as the next of kin. Then he again asked to speak to a Chris, to which again I stated that I know of no one by that name. I hung up!

They called again the next morning at 6:30 A.M. (Pacific time) and again went into the same spiel. This time, in VERY calm voice, I asked him for a address, he gave me post office box..... I told him, "No, I need a physical address of where you are located!"... which after he spoke to someone, then gave me a address at 150 Crosspoint Pkwy in Getzville, NY.

He then asked why I needed it (should have asked that first), after which I stated the following, "Have you ever heard of Oklahoma City and what was delivered there?? Well, I have had it and am bringing something similar to you!!"
I heard some commotion in the background as he spoke to someone in the background, then he asked, "if I realized it was a Federal crime to threaten someone?" to which I responded, "if I was going to do something, do you think I'd really worry about the Feds?"...
Then another voice came on and said, "We are sorry Sir, we have made an error, thank you for your time" and they hung up. No calls since then!

Not saying it was nice (or even legal)...

Still do not know who they were trying to contact, some name I had never heard of....

p.s. No 'Men in Black' have shown up at my door and my phones do not hum or click when I use them, so I assume they either never reported me or actually believed me... either way, it worked!

President Obama has now given permission to collection agencies to call cell phones to collect student loans but naturally the crooks abuse this and call anyone they can find a number for.  I got my first call yesterday on my cell and of course I don't answer 800 numbers ever and don't owe anyone.  It is a recorded message and if the answering machine connects they will keep calling back ad nauseum.  I turned off my answering machine and had a little relief but you-know-who turned it back on.  I wonder if our cell company is able to block certain numbers...

Just got a call from 800-448-9570. Looked it up and found this site with all the posts about this company. Right off the bat this woman talked so fast all I heard was the word "collection". She asked if I was Carol, I said yes, and to my surprise she wanted my social security number! I quickly said I don't give that out and hung up in her face.  I don't owe them anything.

Keep up the good work of warning people. This is how scammers get your social security number and then everything else you own. I wish I had a button on my phone that would let me send an ear-splitting blast back through the phone to them.

He called my house looking for a relative.  The number he gave me to give to that relative is a direct line to him... ANDY JACKSON...  he HATES it when you call him all day long!  LOL!  That's one way to nip it in the bud.  I told him I'd put his direct line on facebook and have all 2700 of my friends call him about the "giveaway" he's doing...  don't get mad, get even!
