Receiving calls looking for a relative.  This relative has been out of work for 2+ and may be behind on his bills, but I beleive another relative has been paying them for him.  This company calls randomly looking for contact info for him.  Although they are polite enough, calls at 8:30 when my children are asleep are not okay.  We've informed them never to contact us again and yet every several months we get a call just before the 9pm legal cut off.  Wish the cut off time was earlier so these calls didn't wake up my children.  Also wish this company would stop calling all together.  What part of "never call here again" is confusing.

They call my job EVERY DAY looking for someone who doesn't work here.  Once, the caller said, "yeah, well, she owes us money" and hung up.  Usually, they leave messages in the general mailbox for everyone to hear.

Had to be one of the most rude people I have spoken to in a long time.  Had called in on a line in our home that is an office # that my husband has absolutely nothing to do with other than it is a phone line that is in addition to all of the others under one name.  Kept asking to speak with my husband, wouldn't tell me the purpose of the call.  Wouldn't accept that I was his wife & therefore had a right to ask.  Was very rude saying 'Oh, you expect me to believe that you are his wife.  Right.'.  Then said, 'these calls are recorded Mamm, you have a nice day'.
We don't have a debt that a collector would be calling on.
    What a jerk.

I took a phone call from a member today who received a call from this number. The person calling did not leave a message the first time they called the second time someone called the caller ID read 555-000-8845. The person who left a voicemail left a claim number and a number to call back. This is a phishing attempt at getting confidential information. I urge you not to give any information to the agency.

I recieved a very strange call a few minutes ago from 800-448-9570.  After coming to this site I realized what may be happening.  The caller was chewing me out and accusing me of calling her every day and leaving voice messages on her phone.  I was dumb founded since I knew I hadn't done any such thing to anyone.  The caller was saying either her name is Sarah or the person leaving the messages is Sarah.  At first I was thinking this was an issue between wife/girlfriend and husband/boyfriend and the person calling me dialed my number by mistake.  After coming to this site I realized that the company in question (NCO?) has taken spoofing a step farther.  I believe they are using my cell number as a caller I.D. number or when calling their number the call bounces out to cells.  For what purpose, I wouldn't even begin to place guesses, but it makes sense.  The girl calls me on my cell (she got conected to my number from somewhere) and the 800 number comes up on my caller I.D.       There are free services available to us, such as GOOGLE TALK, et.al, that can be used to block specific callers.  I have no clue who/what NCO is and there's no reason my name/number should be attached to their records.  If someone I know has listed me as a contact it was done without my knowledge, therefore, I shouldn't have to put up with harrassment.   NCO.... buyah!

Got a call from this number today at 930 am. They asked for someone's name who was my Mother-in-Law before she got divorced and had her name changed. Told him he had wrong number and he said, "Oh, wrong number." Then he hung up. I immediately googled this number and found this site. Thanks for the heads up!!! Stupid people.

We have been getting calls from NCO from this, a few other numbers and most often blocked numbers, for over two years.  The first calls were polite, but persistant.  They ask for someone who isn't at this number, are advised that no one by that name is at this number.  Then they say that we, no first names, were listed as a contact for this other person and if we could please give them a message.  They are interupted and told the person is not at this number and not to call again.  These "polite" calls came once a week for about a month.  Then the calls started escalating in nastiness and persistance until they were calling multiple times daily and threatening to have my infant put in foster care or ruining his credit.  They have been sent multiple cease and desist letters.  Finally I put an anonymous call block on my phone.  The calls stopped for a couple months.  They started again today with this number and Unavailable on the caller ID.  Just like in the beginning they were somewhat polite.  Unlike before, I am documenting every call and sending the cease and desist letter with return receipt requested.  If they continue I'm not going to play around, I'm going to sue.

I have no clue who and why they are looking for ME AND MY WIFE. We have never issed paying a bill in 45 years and have ZERO, ZERO debt. No mtg, no credit card bills, nada, nothing. They say they are trying to collect a debt and want me to verify my s.s. etc which of course we never do. Just be careful, as that is how scammers get your legal infor and then APPLY for debt! The person that keeps calling me is ANDY ...today, he said i sounded like a TRUCKER and of course i told him what he sounded like and he got mad and hung up. I love staying calm and cool with them and have them hang up on me. Im sure foolks do owe money, but they would get a lot more respect and higher in collections if they tried being nice the first phone call.

I have a nice ring tone for these toll free numbers and numbers that I don't know.  I add then to my cell phone book under zzzzz then I select a "no ring tone" for them and keep them there forever.  No problem if you never hear the phone ring.

Let me encourage ALL you to do the same, this way they will never bug you again.

800-448-9570 Called fishing for informion, had same name as mine but nothing else matched,.
Kept asking for verifying  information from me, I refused.
    Claimed federal student loans default.
I called government student loons default number, they confirmen I was not in default. i asked if I could report a false collection call. She said no, was probably a debt collection agency that had a legit contract to collect skip payers for the federal student loan program.

Why is the government contracting agencies that have FTC complaints against them?
How would I know if NCO have a government contract, so i can coplain to my senator?

Called a number where I volunteer once in awhile (how did they ever get this number?).  Called a cell phone that belongs to my company.  Misrepresented themselves as being from Bank of America.  A real jerk!!!!  Called them back and made it very clear to Mr. Perez that he is not authorized to call me on either of these numbers.

Have written a letter telling them they are not authorized to call me on any of these numbers.

On my cell phone I have created an entry called "Do Not Answer"  which has a silent ring tone. Whenever one of these low lifes calls me I just add them as another number.   After that I never know when they call.  On our land line, we often just let it roll over to the fax after four rings.
