Just a heads up. NCO is taking credit card payments for some utilities. This is just one more incursion into the financial data system, one more way they can get into your business. Call your utility company if you see NCO on your credit card statement with your utility payment and tell them you do not want NCO to have anything to do with your credit card info.

The guy that called said his name was Keith Smith from NCO I told him that the person he was looking for was not known to me and he had the wrong number. He was very persistant that I give him my name. If not they would continue to call.

keep calling looking for someone who does not live here but shares the same name.  have requested about 10x that they take us off their call list but they insist it's not telemarketing, it's "private business."  i kid you not.  is there any way to report these people to some authority - how do you get rid of these pests?

I keep getting phone calls from them for someone else, but they won't tell me the name of who they are calling for.  They call my business line repeatedly, and tell me that they have researched their information and I am indeed the right contact for their bill, but they can't tell me my name.  These people are idiots. I've never paid a bill late.  First time they called it was for a student loan, of course they wouldn't tell me what name it was in, just that oh it's your name ma'am.
    Me: Ok, what's my name?
NCO: Well surely you know your name don't you?  Is there a guardian we could speak with or your power-of-atty?
Me: What name is the bill it?
    NCO: Your's.
Me: What is the spelling of the name?
NCO: well surely you know how to spell your name don't you?

They keep calling my business line repeatedly.  I haven't had his # for long, and you can't tell me they are going to collect on a student loan, that I have received, but the first payment isn't even due until 6/15/09.

They have called my neighbors and asked for the name of the person in my apartmentd #.  Thank god they haven't given it to them.

What can I do to get rid of them?  I'm not sending them another certified letter.  I sent it with the return address of the apartment office, and just let them know that a send receipt was going to be sent back to them for me.

They can't call a business line if advised not to repeatedly, it violates the FDCPA.

They called to my work and identified them as the person on an account, had all her info, ssn, and was asking about this person's mortgage! As soon as they caught on to the fact that we knew who they were, they hung up. The fact that there was alot of typing in the background - I knew immediately it wasn't who they were claiming to be.

They are a collection agency and I don't think its right they can do this. I'd sue them for Identity theft if they pulled this on me! We contacted the family who they were inquiring about so they can cover themselves. How shady!

They called and asked for me by name, then asked me if the last for digits of my SSN were XXXX (which was incorrect).  They have been calling me several times a day, usually in the afternoon and then several times in the evening.  I called their legal department and they promised that my number would be removed from their list, yet I continue to get calls.

There is only one way to deal with mudderfuggers like this.

Go to Walmart and get an air horn. When these [***] call, chat them up like you want to talk. Then grab the air horn and blow it right into the phone.

Maybe if more people made these fuggers go deaf, they would stop calling people and harassing them.

    This Guy
Was called by some guy from 800 448 9570 asking to speak with me (did give my correct first and last name) on my cell phone, and asked me to return his call to 866 483 8585. Got his voice mail indicating he is Brent Johaness (sp?) by no other information about the company. Googled the phone number to see that it's NCO Financial. Will update this post once I find out what's going on...

Received a call from this number asking for "adam howard".  Well, our last name is Howard but my husbands first name is not Adam.  I repeated the name to the caller and he said "yes" and I said "there is no one here by that name".  I think they are just calling any Howards in the area hoping to find the right one.  This was the first call I had rec'd from this number so hopefully it will be the last.  Get calls like this all the time but they are always looking for other people.  I tell them they have the wrong number but they keep calling. I'm sure they don't believe me but it's frustrating to keep getting calls day after day from these stupid collection agencys.

I just got a call from "NCO Financial" (800-448-9570). She asked for *** *** and I told her that there was no *** *** at my phone number. She asked if I knew a *** ***. I told her no. Then she went into a speil saying that the call may be monitored, blah, blah, blah. I stopped her and asked her if no *** *** lived here and I new of no one named *** ***, why was she even continuing her conversation with me. She said that by law she had to tell me this. I told her I wasn't lying, said good bye and hung up.

This co. calls for a debt. That was settled in court 12 years ago. My indenty was stolen 14 years ago. I had several cards chasing me. In court they had no signed invoices to prove that these were my bills. They had unsigned receipts. The judge dismised the case. I still have the case# and the case file. when I told them this was settled in Court they said they just received the paper to collect. That has to be a lie. I don't think they can go back that far anyway. I have contacted the court for what to do next. The clerk of court is making a letter up and will send them a copy of the court findings. She told me if that doesn't work sue them.

Hey Blonde chic!!!  The exact same thing happened to me.  They asked for a name that was similar to my husband.  Couldn't get it right.  First they said he had been reported for child neglect in DC, darn no kids and never lived in DC, then they said they knew he was working at the post office, wrong again, then they gave me his last four Soc Sec #, third time wrong.  Like you said phishing for suckers!!!  These people are low grade crooks hoping someone will be dumb enough to send them a check but you're the first person that had an experience VERY much like mine. After the first call they called again, asked for the same odd name and said he hadn't paid a hospital bill.  I don't answer anymore but it would be fascinating to hear what they would come up with.  Hey maybe I've just won a million dollars!!!  Thanks blonde chic!!!
