- emmartI received a call from (800) 477-9205 while on vacation overseas. They left a message saying that they are Bell Canada's collection service and to call regarding an outstanding bill. The trouble is, I haven't had an account with Bell Canada for at least five years. I returned their call immediately and they had no record of the call or any products under my name, phone number, address or any other identifiers. I wish that's where it ended, but today I received the same message.
There is a reason I haven't had a Bell account in five years. When I was in school, I was responsible for the household bills including home phone. Toward the end of our lease, I submitted a request for termination effective May 1 - this request was made in February. In October, my mother received a call from Bell Canada (having been unable to find me due to the move) asking for over $1500 in outstanding payment. It turns out, after some persistence, that they had not deactivated the account and that the new residents were racking up monthly and long distance charges. It so happens that I kept the confirmation number and was reimbursed.
So the moral of the story is, legitimate number or not, avoid Bell Canada.- Caller: Bell Canada

- IworkatBELL| 12 replieswhy don't y'all just pay your bills and Bell will stop calling you...this is the main number from accounts receivable dept and if they call you is mainly because you owe them money; solutions: pay your bills.

- Billy replies to Bell Collections Senior AgentGeee... perhaps if Bell and other large corporations doing business in Canada would use LIVE CANADIANS and not computer dialers, or off shore call centers... then there might be MORE JOBS in Canada and keep people not only employed here at home, but we could also pay our phone bills (Which are higher than any other country)... & we might be able to buy food too.... or tranquilizers to calm nerves after these untrained rude callers!...
TAKE HEED BELL, you are not the only choice out there!! I was trying to be faithful to a long standing Canadian Company when less expensive options DO exist... But it would seem that Bell is becoming less and less Canadian every year. - chilly replies to IworkatBELL| 2 replies800-477-9205 is Bell Credit Dept. - the number is on their notices.
Dear employee, if 'Bell' were being professional the call display would show 'Bell Canada', the caller would leave a proper, professional, courteous message explaining who is calling, why, the amount owed, a due date & payment options (call back # or bell.ca or tele/internet-banking etc.).
Then, if payment was not received after a 'reasonable time' (ie. don't call several times a day or subsequent days), then another call (also courteous manner) would be appropriate.
With all of the telemarketing, scams, identify thefts, security issues (esp. if children answer) etc. that 'pollute' our telephone calls & messages I would like to believe that Bell Canada would understand this and act more professionally.
This rude & irritating behaviour/style just makes people defensive. This behaviour is certainly losing Bell Canada more customers than they realize. Remember 'Bad begets Bad' & 'You get more flies with honey than with vinegar'.
Our family has been 'with' Bell for over 50 years and this behaviour (+ constant price increases with very little/hidden notice or reasoning - esp. in a depression) is causing to consult the competition and we will probably be leaving Bell shortly. Check similar issues/complaints about Rogers = they are persistent, but at least they are polite & leave clear messages with request to contact them.
Take the feedback from your customers more seriously, otherwise you won't have them anymore (in essence, you work for them) & as such, you/Bell won't be able to pay your/their bills . Then you'll be out of a job & might not be able to pay your bills on time (remember a company called Nortel ?).

Adios Amigo - pissed off replies to Bell| 1 replyIf you work there and call my house at 10 at night when my bill is not due for 10 more days I WILL POKE YOUR FING EYES OUT YOU KEEP WAKING MY BABY> If you list your hours as 8-5 then that is when you can work and why the eff would there be no person on the line when I answer? Unprofessional at best. D'ont let me get your phone number you sob or i will call you when your sleeping!!!
- Need Beauty SleepThis number has been calling me every 15 mins or so since 8 a.m. when I was still sleeping and enjoying my summer break. When I pick up they would just hang up. I called back and it said it was from Bell Canada credit dept or something. I DON'T HAVE BELL SERVICES! I doubt it's legit, since they don't even know who they are calling and my numbers were never given to Bell; and also I have my number for a very long time. Never give personal information to the people that call from this number. If you have account with Bell, call them directly instead!

- Codester replies to puzzledThey called me all weekend as well. My husband works with computers and he said scam "artists" are smart and can double web sites to look the same as others.
My bill isn't over due, they would have no reason to be calling me. - concernedThey have been harassing me in the past month - each time asking for some "Mike" guy. Initially I explained that there was no such person, that I had that phone number for a year, but they just keep calling. It is outrageous. My cell phone provider says I should ask for a manager and complain, and I will give it one more try, but if they keep on calling, I'll have to change my phone number. This is unacceptable and there should be a law against such harassment. The Bell company should pay damages for each person that was harassed without reason this way.

- TBI called this number back. The person on the other end said he could not pull up my account information. I told him a couple of times that there was an issue with the billing. I asked to change the contact number on the account. He said he would change the contact information and that the billing issue would be resolved. The billing issue is still not resolved. I asked to be put through to customer service and he told me that it closed at 5pm. I told him that I had spoken with customer service at that time of day several times in the past. He said that the customer service department where he was located was closed. He then told me that he needed to update my account information and that if I didn't, someone else would be calling me to do so. He asked for my date of birth. I said I wouldn't give that to him and that my date of birth is the same as it was when I opened the account and shouldn't need to be updated. Then I called the bell 888 number and spoke to someone about the account. The contact information was not changed (that could be due to a time lag in getting the information changed) and the billing issue was still not addressed (but that could be bell's brutal customer service). They keep calling me but I don't answer and they don't leave a message. It was all very suspicious. It was clear to me that the person on the other end of the line did not really know what he was doing.

- heartinhockey replies to Bell Senior Collection Agent| 1 replyOh this is going to be fun . I have contacted everyone I know regarding BELL and the fake persona they give themselves. I can go back over a year. ( been a customer for 2 years maybe 3 ) First when the tv got installed it worked for a week then we had to update. " didnt mind at all " Then my parents were in a car accident and I had to fly across country as they were in a coma. I remained with them for 3 months till they passed away. Now during this I had someone watching the house and had called BELL to close the account so I was loading up a large bill . Well when I got home there was a bill for over $700 ! Now if I hadnt had called previously to cancel the subscription while I was away I wouldnt have minded paying for it. SO I phone and ask to talk to the manager and he has the nerve to tell me that his companies #1 priority is customer satisfaction and to look after the " little guy " !!!! I wanted to climb through the phone when he said there was a record of me phoning but they operator does not mention the purpose of my call !! How can that be ? So he says that he will send me a free movie credit for my troubles. !!! ONCE THE BILL IS PAID !!! Have a friggin heart ! Now back in December I got in a car wreck and was hospitalized . ( I know cars and my family the past couple years havent been a good thing ) So my bill has been sent to collections. I offered to pay it in cash yesterday and get it up to date . They said that is fine as long as I give a credit card for automatic with drawl for now on. They are the biggest scammers. Absolutely the worst company ( besides BC's ICBC ) in this country. I have several other complaints about the installation and mess they made , how they also told me when I move I get a free installation for a onetime moving . They billed me . and they charged me interest. Oh and the satelite dish fell down that time to . Atleast he didnt leave his McDonalds have ate on my floor and garbage everywhere.
Bell is a joke. We have friends with 99.3 the Fox fm and they are going to have us on the radio to talk about our opinions on everyday topics . You can believe I will be bringing it up about the scammers !!
ANYTHING A BELL EMPLOYEE SAYS DO NOT LISTEN .. ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS THEMSELVES AND GETTING YOUR MONEY
I have talked to shaw , Shaw Direct Tv, and also Direct TV and they will give us the same packages we have already for 35$- 50 $ LESS A MONTH !!!!! - stranger| 2 repliesIts the collections department within bell canada, its not a scam.
- brz replies to Brian R| 4 repliesum... sorry to burst everyone's bubble here but I've received a couple of calls today from that number but whenever I answer the call, it clicks and hangs up. I decided to call the number back and it is indeed a Bell Canada number for their accounts receivable department. If you have an overdue account, you can call them and make arrangements. There's no scam involved.
- Updater replies to stranger| 1 replyThere are a number of different reasons credit services are triggered to call customers regarding their accounts, but if you pay your bills faithfully, then you have some options to stop the calls:
(1) Having the business office assign a DO NOT CALL flag onto your account(s). You must have a good account history and I would also suggest you have all your account services flagged (Home phone, Mobility, ExpressVu, Sympatico, etc ..) or the trigger will still occur.
(2) If the business office rep will not accommodate your request, you should call:
Bell Canada Executive Office of Customer Relations
Québec: 1 866-317-3382
Ontario: 1 866-317-3382
p.s. make sure you always ask for the employee ID of the person you are talking to and record the date & time of each call. Helps big time the higher up the ladder to go in Bell to resolve issues. - updater replies to UpdaterAlso (forgot)

Email works very well and you are able to retain a paper trail - FED UP AND PISSED OFFYep happening to me this number calls every day from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. I already made a partial payment for my Bell bill and now they want to know why I am not paying the balance. Told the person on the other end of the line to check their files to see that I am not working and pay what I can once a month.
