Collection agencies are out for profit and personal gain. They don't care about these companies. The companies owed never see a dime of the collection. Companies charge off accounts for taxes as a loss and sell the account to a collection agency. Therefore if you owe 100 dollars the collection agency buys your debt for 10 dollars and if they collect they make a 90 dollar profit. The company you actually owe the debt to doesn't see a dime of that. They lie to and manipulate you and try to scare and harrass you into paying. They need you to admit who you are and verify your identity in order to hold you legally accountable for the debt because you never agreed or contracted to pay this 3rd party agency anything and have no obligation to them. It is actually worse on you and your credit report to pay these people than not to and every payment restarts your 7 years and destroys your credit. BLOCK THE CALLS...DO NOT ANSWER

Have answered call from 800-521-4956 which sounds like a recording; female voice assertively says that the IRS will be filing in court against you if you don't respond immediately.  They've called several times; I've saved the call history to my phone.

I'm still getting calls for a medical debt that isn't. (tl;dr Medicare snafu- yeesh!)

Called, asked for info on message. When I called back, they asked again. When I asked them to tell me who they are, they said thay wouldn't tell me unless I told them first.  (!)   I found out on the web that this muber belowngs to "American agencies."  What can we do to shut hem down?

Instead of bitching just block their number it's as simple as that.

My mother received a call from this phone #. When she answered, the woman said they were trying to collect a medical debt of $95.00 for prescriptions from 2011. That was 7 years ago. My mother said she did not have any debts when it came to prescriptions; she has insurance, and would pay for the medication at the time of sale. When my mother told the woman to send her a bill, the lady hung up. Then a few days later, this bogus company called again, and my mother said she wanted to know the name of the medication, and what the date of service was. Of course, the woman could not answer these questions. My mom then said she wanted a bill sent for a second time, and the lady disconnected, again! So, then I call them back, and a recording came on, and it said to wait on the line for an agent. After a minute of silence, the recording said to leave a message. I didn't, of course. I would love to file a complaint, but I don't know where to file it at, or how to go about it. I'd love to know how they got my mother's phone #; she is elderly, and this is upsetting to her because she does not have much money. I am so sick of these a**holes! Instead of scamming honest people, why don't they go and actually get a f****** job like the rest of us. What a bunch of useless  scumbags. They are complete waste of space.

You could get your mom a call blocker if her phone or service provider doesn't already have block options.

This number calls 3 - 4 times a day everyday.  Never leaves a message

You must be one of these bottom feeders if you are defending them.

Calls about every other day, tried to "confirm" my information, I advised them that if they did not tell me what the call was in reference to in 10 seconds I would hang up, which I did. Today they called and my wife answered and all she got was the proverbial Heavy Breathing. When she stated that this was not very nice THEY hung up. This does not sound like the behavior of a legitimate company IMHO. PS: I am debt free and have a Credit Rating of over 825!!!
