Caller ID displayed a call from GE Money, but the caller was collecting for JC Penney. He said I owed two payments and had a balance .

I don't have JC Penney account. He would not give me his name, but offered a call back number. He wanted a quick payment or my social #.

People, this is fraud. Do not give any information account numbers etc to these persons .I will call FBI tomorrow>

It is from JC Penneys.  They have a legitimate debt to collect on me.  I don't think it's a scam... just figure out what the problem is and then they'll stop calling you.

Although I do have a Penny's card, my account is up to date.  So I'm not sure why this number would be calling me.  For all those who do have accounts and don't want this number to be calling you, go to your account page and change the phone number to 123-123-4567 that way you won't have to worry about people calling you.  Or, block the number which is what I'm going to do also.

This is in fact JC Penny's collections.  After a few calls from a different number other than my own, and a few pointed questions, I realized that this is exactly what it is.  I didn't think I was behind on any payments.  But what I had done was neglected to make my total minimum payment that was due because I was a day late three months ago and they assessed a late fee.  What I did to resolve this, after this phone number had called me 6 times in one day, was to call 800-322-1899. I called at 8:30 pm PST and made sure the gal I was speaking with was in fact in the US. (We always have that option to ask to be transferred to someone in the US to someone who speaks English as a first language.)  Because it was the first time I had been late, and the first time since I'd opened the card two years ago that they'd assessed the late fee, she was able to wave it and now the phone calls will stop.  No I don't work for the collections department and no, I am not affiliated with them in any way shape or form. I just made an honest mistake and wanted to help clear up any misconceptions.  Peace.

They just called me and I do not answer 800 numbers or long distance for that matter unless I know the person calling me. I do not owe JC Penny's one dime!! I have paid them off and I will keep it that way!!

    Upset
I have had a JCP card for many years and I have always kept it up, until recently, due to health issues that came first before anything else.  I fell behind on it and knew that I did.  When they called, I explained to them what happened and they understood and placed me on a three month plan to help me get it under control.  We had agreed on a price for that three months and I abode by it, but still JCP was not happy and kept hounding me for more than we had agreed.  I told them what was agreed and that was all I could afford at the time.  They are not holding up to their end of the bargain, but I am.  Every time I call to make my payment, they keep telling me it is not enough and do not want to take my payment we had agreed on.  I always tell them that was the agreement and they will have to accept what I am willing to pay.  After some negotiation and being stern with them, they accept it finally.  If I knew I was wrong, I would not be so headstrong in being adamant about it, but I am in the right and they are in the wrong by not wanting to hold up their end of the deal.

I have scheduled my payment with JCPenney (which will be paid TOMORROW!!) however they have been calling both my home phone and my cell phone non-stop for over a week!  My husband tried to speak to someone, however when he pushes the button they ask for the last 4 digits of the social security number, which he absolutely will NOT do!  The calls continue, most of the time showing up on caller id as a "BLOCKED" number.

Of COURSE they're on the level; that's why they are calling people who don't even have accounts with them.  What a crock.

shill alert.  Read the posts, "employee".  You are asking people to ignore the fact that your "employer" is harassing people.  I got an idea: how about YOU just take care of all of that BS about calling people who don't have accounts...oh yeah, that would mean you would actually have to work there.  Sorry, "Peggy"

I have gotten about 10 phone calls from this number in the past few days. They are calling my cell phone number (a number associated with my business, which is on the internet). They say that they are from JC Penny. I called the number this evening and a recording said that they recognized my phone number and requested that I put in the last four of my social. I will not do this, as I do not nor have I ever had an account with JC Penny. The calls I get are automated. I guess I need to make sure that I am not a victim of identity theft first. After that, should I call these people and talk to them? I am assuming they are scamming or calling to collect a debt and have the wrong number/person (or there was identity theft and someone opened an account with my information).

I missed my November payment for the first time and they froze my card. I called their number, made the payment for 2 weeks from now and as soon as it's paid off I'm dumping them. This # came on my cell earlier today.

This is JC Penny.  I was getting these calls on a new cell phone.  I went to the JC Penny website and called the contact number for their credit card division.  They had another name associated with my phone and that is why I was receiving the calls.  They fixed it and said that I should not receive any more calls

My daughter received several calls from this number today, at half hour intervals.  She hung up on all of them and did not give out any personal information.  She does not own any credit cards.  I am using this as an opportunity to show her how to block numbers on her cell phone.

They call a couple times a day.  Also, I have my number on the do not call list.  This should include 800 numbers!  If it is Penney's they can keep their charge card, and I am a good customer of theirs.

Yes this number calls me every day and it doesn't matter if I answer or not.  There is no person there.  It's just a computer.
